Title: New Forum Feedback
Post by: ACAMS on November 29, 2009, 06:36:01 PM
Post here if you found a problem with the new forum.

I know the old polls are messed up! (and moderators please delete the polls that are messed up that you see)

If you see a post icon that needs a RA2 look.....and/or want to change my SFTW and Firestorm incons and such.... feel free to make them and record their location ......hint, hint JoeBlo and other PS guru's

Avatars can now be 150 x 150

I need to go get some sleep now.....be back in 6 hours.

The Avatars aren't 150x150, they're tiny!

I personally like vBulletin better than this, probally because i haven't had much use with Simple Machines. Probally get used to it over time.

Everything seems fine on my end though.

When you click the orange forum button on the top left it logs you out.

What happened to Veterans, Advanced Users, and other titles? I miss them.

Well, you can always make your own title (like mine). And I don't quite get the battle axe/redneck battle axe/fireman's axe/iron spike thingimajig. o_o
Title: Re: New Forum Feedback
Post by: JoeBlo on November 29, 2009, 10:24:41 PM
my guess is (with everything) takes time

ACAMS is probably sorting out all the major stuff first because I know custom titles are possible as people got them on RCG when we tested this forum

Edit: Pwn they are the thread icons like the old one had the N's envelopes, etc, dont worry Im making some possible new ones  ;D

ACAMS, could you install another, more simple and elegant theme? This one is kinda hard on my eyes. The default SMF theme wiould do just fine, but I see you overwrote it.

I am working on that, I will restore all soon.

Title: Re: New Forum Feedback
Post by: RedSawn on November 30, 2009, 02:00:28 PM
There's a "Unread Posts" button on the header for each main section of the forum, when on the main page (If you can understand). There might be something more precise, or maybe not.
Title: Re: New Forum Feedback
Post by: Reier on November 30, 2009, 03:21:23 PM
Was gonna say pretty much what FC said up there. The Unread posts button is ok... but I like the New posts button's function a lot better on the old forum.
Title: Re: New Forum Feedback
Post by: Serge on November 30, 2009, 04:02:31 PM
The forum software says I have three unread PM's, although all of them are actualyl old & read. It may be something with single quote escaping in the message title. Please fix this in the DB.

HELL YEAH the search function is working properly !

Hello guys (may sound childish but I\'m new here)

I just wondered about a glitch: Do the very useful double strength aluminium glitch works too in DSL? And is it a good idea to use it?

Btw, speaking of glitches, yesterday I fought Ripblade two times with a VS, completely ripping off all his external compoments... No havoc explosion at all. )

Thanks. (sorry for my English)

My first post <3

actually Nar...

Most verbs ending in ‘p’, after an unstressed vowel, have no doubling of that final consonant in standard received British English or American English. Words like developing or gossiping follow such rules.

Worshipping and Worshiping are both acceptable spellings, it just goes on preference.

I keep forgetting to post this idea, but finally I have remembered it WHILE sitting here reading the forum posts.

I wish there was a way to click on a button to "ignore" a topic.  My favorite way to navigate this forum is to click on the "Show unread posts since last visit" and start reading through the new stuff and active topics.

Well, some topics I am not interested in and I wish I could just make them go away altogether instead of having to click on "mark all messages as read".  I imagine that it would take a lot of coding or something to make that work.  So, I was just throwing my thought out there anyways.

I don't like the fact we have a custom "weight" next to our actual one.

There is nothing I can do about that, except put you in a special group......usually done on request.
So I could ask to become SMweight?

I have no idea... might be a glitch... or possibly a cloaking device.  They go invisible after the first hit but if you follow their path for a moment with some follow up shots the saucer explodes after a few more hits.  Pain in the ass though.

Well it didn't upload, and there are ALREADY three uploaded named "movie", but they are very old. Try to rename it to something revelent and reupload. If you get an error, paste the error here.
ALSO, there is a size limit......DO NOT upload a HUGE .avi!

On the file uploader, can you make the little window with the text to copy out larger. There isn't enough space and it doesn't let me copy out the entire line. I have to do it in parts using Cut/Paste.

Its been a long time coming buddy. (Hell you were the first mainstay to join after me, you are better at building IMO, and I got my title a while ago)

Actually, he was the first one to get a custom title....or one of the first.

I'm changing the subject to avoid an inevitable argument. =D

So, how about that New Members Entry board? I think it's an excellent idea, what about you?

Its a good idea to get rid of the 347523984589234763 Inactive Members

It's just to get rid of spambots, members with zero posts. Or members who post twice and then sod off.

Post by: J24 on September 20, 2010, 03:27:14 PM
yup good idea
also, how many members do we have that dont post twice and sod off?

There's quite a few regular members around here, it's probably a couple of hundred or so in the various different boards. And we've got the admins and mods who go about stuff behind the scenes, so there's a fair few people here. =] But you get that with every forum.

ok so say about 200 out of 347523984589234763
quite a small percentage, if you ask me
its probably a good idea to have that newbie welcome desk thingy, so we can get it down to about 200 out of 201

In the forum, can we omit the Junk Yard posts from the "Recent Posts" thingy on the front page?

What does:

'Bad Behavior has blocked 269 access attempts in the last 7 days.'

Mean?

I have only one idea, it's about the spambot blocker. Saw it this morning, have no other explanation from this.

Image removed from quote?????

Maybe a good idea in like playground but honestly I quote my bots in my showcase all the time for ease of viewing and then if someone quotes just a picture to comment on it, you have no idea what they're talking about.

All they have to do is click to see.....there is really no sence in quoting images!

How about this?
