you've only been here a couple of months

Weeks :)

Also, extremely offtopic and hijacking, but has anyone seen Serge lately? I've sent him a few PM's about the development of a new game but he doesn't seem to reply (or I'm doing something horribly wrong with sending the PM's because I don't see them in sent messages either).

I'm alive, we just seem to never be online at the same moment :(.
(also, my XMPP server is kind of wonky and doesn't always work)

I'm not so sure about that, I've just been very inactive lately because of my exams.

Guys let off him.
They're not on me, they're critical, which is good. If they would be like "AWSUM LETS DO IT1!!!111!" with everyone the community would no doubt collapse.
Not you, Nary. Anyway I think NC will be a good TA. However you are new here and it might be a year or so untill you become  TA. If even you do become TA. However we cannot decide if you will be TA. ACAMS and a few other mods will. Before you become TA, your gonna have to earn ACAMS respect.  One way to earn is respect is by not PMing him if you can be TA. Thats my advice.
Very nice and extremely general advice. Of course, NC would not know this.

@NC:
Really, all you need to do is get more into the modding aspect of RA2 specifically, as others have said.

I have a question..

Why is it, NC that you are so eager to become a Tech Adviser?

Oh I am not really eager for it. A lot of people suggested it and I was like "ah WTH why not". And I wasn't sure how to ask/apply/??? for it so I made this thread. Nothing more, nothing less.

/Implying that you need the title of Technical Adviser (or any special title for that matter) to be well respected, regarded as a person of virtue, or valued in this community.

Oh wait. Damn.

I reserve the right to hand out all titles.
Technical adviser is one of the highest ranks available and can't be earned by one program or in just a few weeks, but you are defiantly on the list and this topic really didn't need to be started because it has already been considered.

I voted yes because I see no harm in it.  While NC is new, he does seem mature enough to handle the title without disrupting the forum and I think he has the potential to contribute in support of the title as well.  If he abuses it (can you really abuse being a tech advisor?)  we can just all rest assured with the age old prophecy:

"The ACAMS giveth. The ACAMS taketh away."

Just curious.. This is the first case of this request (normally its just bulk requests for Advanced user)

As contrived as this is going to sound, "It's not about the title, it's what you do with it."  I'm not going to change my opinion of you just because your name is a different colour, you've well enough convinced me of your expertise already with the Movepixel tool.

Understand that I'm not knocking you down for asking for a promotion, just assuring you that I'll still respect you even if it doesn't happen - I can see that a lot of people were pushing you into going for this, perhaps making it seem like more of a big deal than it really is.

Besides, getting promoted is entirely up to the bureaucracy, it's irrelevant that the aye's have it in your poll.

You've got a unique name, unique avatar, you've made your mark with the movepixel tool, your tech knowledge makes me look like a caveman.  I'd wager that people will not soon forget you, and in my book that's something to be proud of.

Yes I did browse through all 8 pages of his history.  I just can't find anything involving serious RA2 mechanics testing, insights in modding/gmf, or RA2 programming (written software/tinker with exe/etc).  Like I see Autohotkey related stuff, but that's not really programming.

I expect GTM Tech Advisers to know more about programming and the workings of this game than I do.

I'm sorry, I thought Tech Adviser was more general then just about RA2. You do seem to be a bit cautious about my "programming skills", perhaps these references will convince you (don't get me wrong, I don't like to brag, but I don't like to be seen n00b either): http://stackoverflow.com/users/565635/nightcracker#qpage_1-anpage_1-qsort_votes-ansort_votes, https://github.com/nightcracker/ncUI (horribly outdated UI for WoW, yes I played that)
EDIT:  I take back everything I said.  Having another person to answer questions is always better than having another person that causes problems.  It's not like the title comes with anything other then workloads and annoyances.

It's your own thread, so I assume it's fine. =]

I'm guessing Serge has been busy with either some awesome piece of coding or some banal tax returns. Nothing in between. =P
