Hey everyone!
« on: September 08, 2010, 05:36:52 PM »
Hey everyone here on gametechmods,

I couldnt find a general 'welcome to the forums' kind of page so I thought I would announce myself in the news section, if you count gaining a new member useful news then awesome, but if not, whatever, burn me if you must.

Basically I used to play robot arena a while back when I was 12ish and have been playing on and off and assumed it was a fairly inactive game and it was just a laugh for me and my brother to go head to head with our various creations; but I stumbled across this forum, got the latest patch and downloaded the starcore and DSL packages yesterday although they randomly stopped working today, un-sure why...

Anyhow I think this is gna be a nice place for me an my brother to pick up some tips from the pros, also im a complete terminology virgin here so if somebody could lay down some of the commonly used phrases thats used that'd be awesome :)

Cya around.

Well Somebody is here XD

Welcome to the forums. The best way to learn most of the jargon is to start a showcase. Building new bots will help you learn the jargon real fast.

Tip: Pressing F11 in game will take a screenshot. Just crop out the bot lab and save as a jpg or a png (you can use paint for this, just copy in, crop, and save). Then you can upload them here on the site.

And for your brother, it would probably be most beneficial for him to get his own account (if he wants too), and it would be easier for you two to talk to each other, compete seperately in tournaments, etc.

P.S. Don't be n00by, don't flame people, listen to advice (we know best, trust me), don't spam, and you will be fine here.
I built that big robot on that TV show that time

Actually, this link has ALL the jargon we use. Kinda long, but we do use it all.

Good luck with bot building! If you ever need tips or help, head over to the the tutorials section or go to the beetlebros website.
You got my vote for RA2 Wizard. Always and forever.

Right thanks for the welcome all.

I've checked that clickbeetle website out and was having a lot of fun with stacking and creating some pretty beast spinners and I think il start working on something a little bit more competitive.

And thanks for the jargon link sage, good ol havok explosions... wondered what the name for them was lol

Anyway il start up a showcase and hope to hear from some of you soon enough.

Welcome to Gametechmods!  :welcome

If you want to live here, there's only 3 other things besides what the other members have told you:

1. Stay away from Sparkey98.

2. Listen to the members with coloured names.

3. Stay away from me. I don't agree with it, but trust me. The other members don't like me, and it'd be best if you hung around someone better at the game RA2.

Am I the only one who thinks "5" looks like "TL"?  Maybe it's just my imagination.

I'm just joshing.  Welcome to the forums.   I'm your guy if you like replicas.

Welcome to the Forums! Also don't be surprised if you get a nickname some time down the road. It's just our way of welcoming you into the pack (or if your name's too laborous to type) :P.

^Good point^

Gigafrost=Gig
Naryar=Nary
Urjak=Urjee
FOTEPX-FOTEP
Somebody=SB
Clickbeetle=Click

etc.

You would probably be Hi5 or H5 or something like that. Enter a tournament and we will have to talk about your bot, so you will get nicknamed one way or another that way. ^_^

Welcome!

If you've been around the internet and visited any other communities, you probably will find that they're not all as friendly (in general) as GameTechMods.

Hey, Hi5er.  Welcome to GTM.
Rather than enumerating a bunch of rules, my advice is to just 'use your head' consistently.
Nice to have you around.

BTW: Is your Dad a High Tenor?

Input is appreciated. :)
-Arrogance is a quantity devoid of quality...
-As a client once told me "This is my story, and it's sticking to me!"
-Relationships these days are like the 'Arrival' section of the airport: a lot of baggage is being revealed in one place, and not a lot of it is being correlated to its real owners...
