Do viruses affect us?

Since I'm not entirely sure what you mean, here are all the responses that I came up with.
Virus can affect the server but that is Dreamhost's responsibility to clean up and prevent. They have a whole staff of people working to prevent things like that. In all the years that I have been coming here, I've never seen a virus slip by them. If a virus were to affect GTM than it would impact our SEO score and everyone else on our shared hosting server. We still might be recommended but it might be on page 1338 (not quite good enough for 1337).
Virus can affect specific users but unless they upload it, it doesn't spread to anyone else. I review all the files that get added to GTM to ensure both quality and safety. I don't, however, have uploads being checked before they are made available to the general public (its a setting that I have turned off because people like to see their uploads immediately).
Hackers can try to gain access to the server but I have been trying to close up holes in our security since taking over. Serge got by ACAMS once but he did so in a non-malicious way. We haven't had any other individuals break through. As a bit of a disclaimer, I am not challenging anyone to do so.
People can get a virus and stay home sick but it shouldn't spread over the internet. :bigsmile:

Would that affect our search engine results.

Yeah, that impacts our score. Where are you seeing these links?
Now that I think about it, I think RFSHQ would fall under this category now. I'll replace all the links to it now before I forget.

Are you seeing the ad link as a highlighted word that is blue or green and pops something up when you hover over it? If so, it's probably worth checking out this thread https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=10563.0 (https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php?topic=10563.0) because it is probably your side and not GTM's side (especially since you mentioned having a lot of PUPs which I remember having when I was seeing ad links).

Actually, he was right. Dino Venger used an image that was previously being hosted at RFSHQ. The cleanup that I performed yesterday missed it because he used it in his signature and I only cleaned up the posts. That said, it should be fixed now and I'll take this opportunity to fix all the other RFSHQ links in people's signatures.

I got a malware warning from Google earlier.
Dunno if that means anything.

Can you be a little more specific? I can't really go blindly looking for something unless I have an idea of what I am looking for.
When you say Google warned you, do you mean that screen that pops up when you are using Google Chrome and you are trying to access malicious content? Google has a list of a sites that are known to contain malware and Chrome will warn you if you are attempting to access one of them. All the pages that Dino Venger posted in would have caused this warning to popup until around the time of my last post (its fixed now).
What were you doing and where were you going?
GTM doesn't have any malware and Google doesn't have us on the list of known malware sites. Otherwise, Google Chrome would warn you every time you accessed the site (I'm pretty sure IE, Opera, Safari, and Firefox have something similar but I haven't seen them before).

Basically I was browsing an old DSL preview thread when Google popped up with 'warning, this site has failed our malware test' or something.
It's possibly that it was just having a bit of a moment. Or an old beta link has expired and been infected? I dunno.

I'll go digging for it but I'm pretty sure it was just Dino Venger again so it is no longer an issue.

The thread that S_M mentioned is now fixed. The cleanup also detected 19 other links to that site so thank you for letting me know.
