A few days ago GTM randomly logged me out,
Now I get logged out an hour after I log in every day, even though I click "always stay logged in"
Is this happening to anyone else?
-
Yep, same.

Yes, it's also happening to me. Funny thing is though, that my "Online" light stays on even though I'm apparently logged out.
-
Happens to me aswell
-
And moi.
-
Personally, I blame all the genderbending that's going on lately.
-
*randomly exerts violence on GF93 for saying something silly*
Yeah it happens to me too. But I guess it is happening to us all.
-
This is happening to me as well. The thing is, all the people being affected seem to be in the same sort of time zones. Was there not something like this that happened a while back with different people?
-
Well we'le have to see if any of the yanks are having the same problem before we can assert that.

Happening here too.
-
Not happening to me.
-
Its happening to me to. Kind of annoying at times when it says I can post then when I post it tells me I'm logged out.
-
didn't notice anything like it.
-
Its happened several time to me though. Not all the time thankfully but still. It says I'm still logged in then I go to post and it then gives me the window that only members can do that and its showing as logged out suddenly there.
-
My guess is GTM is "updating" something.
So just be patient, guise.

I've not got this trouble...
-hides from angry english people-
-
I'm english too and I dont have the problem.
-
Back to the main point.
Does anyone know who had this problem the last time this happened?
-
Last happened today, about 2 hours ago
-
This happens to me. It keeps me logged in for a day and the next i have to log back in, even though i click 'always stay logged in'
-
It has happened to me too, and I am working on it.
-
go to the login page and in the time out box you can type your own number (instead of the default 60).. for now just type 9999 and you wont get it so frequently...
-
I did that first, actually i did that until this happened, still logged me out.
-
Actually it doesn't really make a difference to me about the number you put in and it just happened like 3 mins ago
-
Appears to be working for me.
Is your comp auto-clearing its cache?
-
I tried the 9999 trick last night, and it didn't help at all. Still got logged out overnight. It's really only a slight inconvenience, but it's annoying when you do have to repeat the process several times a day.
-
I used 9999 last night, only logged out after I turned off my computer
funny enough whatever the issue it hasnt effected Android Browser.. not been logged out once..
-
Donest happen to me?
-
What browser do you guys use that are getting logged out?
-
I'm using IE8.
-
I'm using IE8.
IE ? WHAT ?
Chrome as always.
-
Yeah, sometimes. Not since i have put over 9000 hours in the "time to stay logged" part though.
-
I use chrome
Although it hasn't been happening for a while for me
EDIT: Sorry it just logged me out a few seconds ago :(
-
@ACAMS: Firefox
-
@ACAMS: Firefox
I use Internet Explorer
-
Chrome
-
Well then, that rules out it being one browsers fault then surely?
-
Internet Explorer 8.
-
It's happening to me too :(
And Chrome
-
OK, It is not the browser.......still looking into the problem.
-
9999 minutes trick isn't working with me for some reason.
-
Me neither
either GTM is going through time machines all the time or it has a problem with the log in/accounts (hmm...)
-
This is a standard smf issue bundled with "bots" attempting to login to your account.
Any account guest or otherwise that trys to login to your account via another IP, smf breaks the session regardless.
the latest volley of bots around are just doing that, you can curb them by doing certain things.
ban them one by one by one (theres a lot)
Add .htaccess to your root with ip deny so the bots don't even get that far
Use the login mod for smf to force logins via e-mail not username (hence e-mails can be hidden even from bots)

Thanks Dermot....
We may have to start logging in using our email address if that is what is causing the problem.
-
Well, it has done it to me now. I am using chrome.
-
Well I changed the cookie name, you ALL may get logged out and have to log in with the new cookie.
-
I have curbed most of them, and have a list of a lot of ips they use
but check your error log and check for single incorrect password error for single random accounts
notable the last person effected, you should notice a good few, from all different IPs
-
OK, I have installed a botblocker.......let's hope it works.
-
if it doesn't work..
add a .htaccess to you forum root
and use something along these lines inside it.
ErrorDocument 403 /403.html
ErrorDocument 404 /404.html
ErrorDocument 500 /500.html

you can take out the custom error documents or just add your own.
And more more spam bots to it as you see fit.
This will deny access to the bots before they even get to the forum.
-
Now i'm getting the problem :(
-
i was logged out too, but that will have something to do with this:
Well I changed the cookie name, you ALL may get logged out and have to log in with the new cookie.
-
This has happened to me ever since I joined. I thought that it was normal. :/
Anyway, now I can't log out.
-
Updated .htaccess if you still wanna tru it

-
The problem seems to start out again for me. I randomly disconnect often these times.
-
Well it looks like we are gonna have to switch to email log in.
-
Mines has stopped doing it now, it hasn't logged me out since I returned to uni about three weeks ago.
-
Likewise.
-
Well it happened to me before, but I just used the 9999 trick again, and it hasn't done it since.
-
why do i never have these kind of problems?
