Redesign happened to accommodate true 4wd, I'm hoping this will make it a contender in fights. Can't thank Haz enough for help designing and machining it.

Motors arrived to Haz today so a crude pretendo-bot happened.

Now christmas is over and I have money that I can spend, the rebuild of MT is next on my list of things to do. Got this design done in sketchup:

Now I just need to remake the panels in inventor and get them sent off for laser cutting.

All the parts have been sent off for a quote on lasercutting now, should be ready for Portsmouth as I'll likely be focusing on beetles at burgess hill this year although I might put MT2 in a few fights to get some combat testing done.

Ash's parts are done now and on the way, really happy with how it turned out, the sides are the wrong way around in the pretendobot, just need to flip them around and they'll fit fine.

Pretendo-bot, now with components. Ash is with Haz now for some pocketing then I need to make a wedge for it and then it's off to burgess for some bw fun.

Decided to do a drum after ash and after a days work in inventor I ended up with this:

The pulley is turned into the drum and the teeth are bolt on via slots milled into the drum and holes drilled/tapped into those slots. Side armour will depends on how much weight is left over but it's looking alright for some hdpe outer armour with the frame equating to about 500g without the weapon and 900g with it.

Not entirely sure, it was an old attempt at an aw shell that ended up being bw sized, I weighed it down on the inside with some steel cable tied to the base. at a guess I'd say maybe 1kg max

Burgess Hill event report:
I had both Beetle spinners ready for burgess, only for things to go wrong at the last possible second, Terminus and Ash both refused to run on orange receivers because of the becs I was using, Terminus blew a lipo somehow, Ash's wheels turned out to be just too small to be effective. Although with a large amount of help from Dave we managed to get Ash running using a receiver pack and a borrowed receiver from Headbanger, hence the tape lid for all of it's fights. Every bot had issues at some point apart from Headbanger and Limpet, RPM smoked it's brushless motor somehow and lost one H-bridge on one of the controllers removing the ability to reverse it's left motor, Snappy lost a couple of wire connections just before doing a final demo fight after a day of fighting ash and ramming things, Naff was taken out by ash after I righted it using the weapon on Rory's request.
In terms of Ash's effectiveness I think with a bit of tweaking it could be a competitive beetle, currently it needs bigger wheels, a new baseplate/lid, a few holes drilled into the bulkheads to allow wires to pass through, and a new wedge to replace the 4mm steel on it currently has. For a bot that barely worked though it did pretty well in it's fights against Mr Snappy:

The downfall of Ash in one of the fights was the small wheels causing it to get stuck on the lips between the arena floor tiles, the other time was the receiver pack running flat during the fight, which was a shame as Ash really got some nice hits then.
Managed to take some gouges out of the ali backplate and hdpe:

Also got a few shots of the GTM Beetles together in and out of the arena and all of the beetles that were there at the time in the arena:
