Looks like a viper kit! Good to see you starting somewhere!
-
You didn't build Gate Stop, you're better than me :dumb)
Also, you totally need to put a three cell in there.
-
nice viper. where you planning to compete with it?
also, will it have a weapon?

I guess so?
I was thinking about just slapping a big spike or something on it.
-
So you didn't get one of the weapon kits that goes with it?
I wouldn't just put a big spike on the front. You lose all pushing efficiency, plus any wedge effectiveness you had. Armor's too tough for a spike to do anything more than small dents anyways. You'd be better off with just a wedge if you aren't getting one of the weapon addons.
-
Oh right, I forgot they sold the weapon kits.

the instructions say i'm supposed to be able to take out the orange wire, but i can't figure out how
help me
-
Why are you trying to take out the orange wire, you're supposed to take out the red(middle) wire.
-
Get a thin knife (like a Swiss Army Knife) and use it to pry back the black tab holding the gold pin inside the connector. Use the smallest hex key you have (if not you should get a set, they're really handy), and insert it into the connector and push it through.

I figured it was close enough to red, and it was the only middle wire I could find. What am I missing?

Thanks! Will attempt once I confirm I'm dismantling the right thing.

Mostly poor image quality, but the middle wire is the one you want to pull, as that is the wire for voltage in.

Or the not so neat, slightly more-of-a-pain-to-reverse solution, cut the thing and wrap both ends in electrical tape ;)

here's a video of my robot i guess
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJXCRqp6QBI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJXCRqp6QBI)\
next thing to do is put in whatever cool kind of batteries all the cool kids use these days
-
Wow that looks really good
-
Planning on taking it to any competitions? ;)

To the title, your stock and DSL showcase titles
Dude thrackerzod!, you aren't bad at Stock, DSL, Ironforge (If you have it), or Real Life! Don't insult yourself! You are good, no matter what your skill is!
-
So, uh... big news on this front.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AjRCiAOKSQ
That's right! I took a video of someone else's robot!
What's actually going on is: I joined my university's Combat Competitive Robotics Club. This was the first year of the club, so there were a whole buncha promblems organizing things - we meant to make 3 3-lb robots but due to some parts orders getting lost in transmission, we only managed two. One of which, of course, is Angore, in the video above. We also have a drum that I've been calling Bongo but I'm not sure if it has an official name.
Point is, I'm going to be driving Angore at Motorama (very badly, most likely)! If you're gonna be there, say howdy! Course, I don't go by Thrackerzod IRL, so if you're looking for me, try asking for Ira.

Update: Motorama is really cool!
In the first round, Angore beat Bagel Beast because their spinner wasn't working. Then, it lost to Rambo, which was a faster and wedgier wedge than Angore. Then, it beat Badnik's Spinjitsu. Finally, it lost to Wedge of Allegiance, which was also faster and wedgier than Angore.
Overall, I'm pretty thrilled I managed to win anything. Would do again!

Oh hey, I didn't know you were a GTM member. Glad you had a great time!

Sorry, I would have said hi, but I don't know who anyone is.
Anyway, videos:
First match was against Bagel Beast:

Now, I was under the impression that they had started the match with their spinner not working. Watching the video, however, they did actually spin up at the start of the match, so I guess Angore must have broken it during the fight. Cool! This was my first time ever driving Angore in the arena, so you can tell I'm a bit shaky. I get a bit better when I realize I'm winning.
Second match was against Rambo:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jsNGmtGv5q8
I remembered that Rambo totally dominated in this fight, but watching it back, it looks like Angore was actually pretty competitive. Judges gave the win to Rambo, which was deserved - he was a bit slammier than Angore. Plus, Rambo had to fight some really scary bot next, so it wasn't the worst thing that I lost here.
Third match was against Spinjitsu:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BAW1BkFHXM
I managed to break one of the important wires and totally kill his robot. I also did a cheeky victory spin.
Fourth match was against Wedge of Allegiance:

My three matches of driving practice was nothing compared to this guy. He was on me the whole time and I couldn't do anything about it. Not a bad way to go out though, considering Angore is still in perfect working order, save for a couple scratches thanks to Badnik.

My dad takes pictures of every event we go to. Here's a picture he took of your bot:

That's a heck of a nice picture. Thanks!
Here's one I took after we got back, so you can see the "damage" Angore took:

The club's going to be running a 1lb plastic inner-club competition soon, so you might just see something for that if I can figure out what to do.
