team Danby
« on: March 15, 2015, 02:35:57 PM »
Hi guys
I'm Craig and I build heavyweight robots, most well known robot of mine is Tanto or perhaps TX-108.

I've been busy building my new robot Foxic for RoboGames 15 and my brother has been busy upgrading TX-109 for the new year of tour events.

We have a (poor) website www.teamdanby.com but we update our facebook page much much more regularly. you should just be able to search for team Danby and find us and all the pictures of the new bots.

Really hope I can actually contribute here rather than just commenting and observing but time will tell.

How do the bars work? Is it a front hinge mechanism?

Looking great, by the way.

4 bar lifter, electrically driven. It lifts me comfortably (I'm 103kg) and self rights a bit like biohazard did in the 90s. It lifted and pushed a 350kg industrial compressor at work on tuesday night before the clutch slipped. First job at RG is to put a couple of grub screws in the clutch to lock it up. I had planned to remove it but time has been against me.

I highly approve, but it needs a fluffy tail for perfection.

this is true, the ears are made of foam and the tail is Lexan/Polycarbonate. I've got some plastic tube and a bit more foam to make a show tail for the pits at robot wars live events which, when you lift it up, a chocolate ball pops out. Fox poo for the VIPs.

I'm unlikely to run the tail at RoboGames, but it attaches to a servo which is linked to the drive, when I drive forward the tail goes down and when I go back it comes up, but it wont self right with it on, so its kinda gonna be for play fights only.

I like to make 1/10th scale versions of the robots too, this little critter is about 70mm long 55mm wide and 16mm tall, Foxic Jnr, about 140g Chassis is cast stainless steel, wedge is 1.2mm stainless steel sheet, runs 2x30:1 HP motors for drive, 1x210:1HP motor for the weapon, can run 2 or 3 cell LiPo

Very nice baby Foxic mate, Foxic itself resembles the robot I 'was' entering into the FW champs, I'll have to show you later on Facebook.

Anyway, job done! Foxic is now ready to be plonked into the game mate.
