Right..... Looks like you could do with a tiny bit of advice:

Most evidently in your fight against ROTO, you lost because of driving (and I'm trying to say this in the nicest way possible :P), because obviously deodorant was the better robot
I would suggest putting a SPEED CONTROLLER in it, yes that's right Haz, a SPEED CONTROLLER, the thing that controls speed unlike your servo boards do :P

Reasoning is that it is very hard to drive without one. Newbie drivers put their robot in the arena and full forward constantly. As you get more experienced, you go against that, (incase you've never noticed, I only briefly drive Spark, Explosion or Eruption at full speed in a fight). Driving is all about manoeuvring, lowering speed when you drive around objects like the pit and floor flipper, not full forward into walls.

As much of a daunting concept as this might sound to you :P,  I think that this may be your way forward, because bar the servo boards, your robots aren't that bad at all.

I seriously laughed at that last vid.  XD     Watching the flipper flail around in desperation.

Haz you have come a long way.  Don't let the losses get you down, because your bots have gotten progressively better since you first posted.  I think it is awesome you are competing. Better luck next time!

good luck with the spinners, but will you still continue to build flippers or will you just use deodorant as your main flipper ?

Ohhh...

Just keep practising then :P

And Deodorant isn't a bad robot at all, on the other hand, your spinner is appalling, (I wouldn't build another) :P
I would seriously recommend re-joining the anti-spinner brigade

its kind of disapointing that the god awful spinner knocked up in a day wins more fights than deodorant

TBH that's because a flipper is much harder to drive

Learn to drive and they will be better :P

gaming helps alot with driving because it improves hand eye coordination

I don't think pushing a stick forwards on a Spektrum requires a great amount of skill, hand eye co-ordination really isn't necessary, and I'll prove this:

My hand-eye co-ordination is terrible. I can't catch. However, trying to be as humble as possible, I'd say my driving is good (and feel free to upgrade that to fantastic :P)

I reckon it's more just about practice and experience

It's not just practicing, but practicing with the specific robot, preferably on a surface that's close to the combat one, in my opinion. The more you practice, the closer you get to not even thinking about the controls and just focusing on where you want the robot to go, relying on muscle memory and reflex to take care of the rest.
