Bio - The beginning and post Robot Wars
About time a thread was made on our antics, the team was first founded when we entered Tanto in the Robot Wars Pilot between Matt Pearman, Craig Croucher, Jack Tweedy and myself. Each of us having a few years experience under our belts as individual roboteers. (me with the least hah) Since RW Craig and Tweedy have went on to be Team Nebula leaving Pearman and myself.
FRA 2016 Featherweight World Championships
Last week we both competed at the FRA 2016 Featherweight World Championships as a team with two new robots, Matt driving 'Surveyor' and myself with 'Amnesia.' It was a brilliant event all in all and we had plenty of help from roboteers all round and helping others in return. You kind of forget that you're all enemies in the arena!
'Surveyor' managed to get through the qualifiers with 7 points ripping off No Toy's axe in the process, but lost in the melee to decide who went through to rounds. 'Amnesia' managed to get through the qualifiers on 8 points, and went on to pit 'Minimoth', 'Loki 2' and 'Omega' in the rounds (somehow) and finally lost to 'Django' in the semi final and breaking down in the playoff against 'Beauty 2'... But avoided getting flipped at all! It was a very jammy performance and it wouldn't have gotten so far if it wasn't for Matt Pearman, Sam Price and Jarvis Callister, the latter of which has also now joined us on our Immersive team antics!
The videos of our fights are in this playlist:

Next event on the list for us is Burgess hill with the Beetleweights, hope to see some of you there!

I've seen the video of no toys axe beeing riped off. Nice move there. So you and craig officially hate each other now?
-
Only in the arena haha. Nah Tweedy wanted a new team name after buying Tanto, so no fall outs have happened, just Matt and me wanted the Immersion name to live on, we have got team shirts after all!... At Craig's.

I was annoyed when that commentator kept saying 'Survivor' in the Night Fury-Fissure match. Did Serveyor have drive issues that you couldn't sort out? It never really seemed to get going properly. Btw, I love Amnesia almost as much as Satanix

What would your words of wisdom be for budding roboteers who want to build featherweights?
-
Oh aye the announcer thinks Amnesia is called Insomnia half the time, it does me head in.
Advice on building feathers err.... Basically it's easier to get something going than you'd think. Always start simple, like build a 2wd rambot. There's less to go wrong and if my pile of rubbish can do well then it proves such a simple works!
A month ago I made a slight modification to Amnesia, it now has a multi use lifter/flipper. It works like Firestorm and Polar Vortex because of how the weapon pivots, so! It should be able to get an oota... In theory!
I gave the weapon a thorough test at Reading and it caused a bit of hell, mainly by driving under the floor lel. But in the last feather fight of the weekend the belt snapped. So! The new Amnesia will probably have a chain driven weapon and a lower pivot.

A small demonstration of how the weapon works...

I really enjoy the shape of the wedge
-
it is definitely rather nifty looking.
-
Looks nice, but I worry about it getting stuck in the opening position/ground clearance causing some problems.
