here we talk about our favorite robots /battles and presenters
-
A random fact Sir Killerlot had only 10 weeks to be built and prepared for series 2 this is why the claw in series 2-3 weren't as big as they were in the other series's the people didn't have time to make the bigger claw the wanted for series 4-7.

Typhoon 2 was the most deserving champion, but I really wish that Tough As Nails won the competition.

On that note, Tornado was the least deserving

Still, Tornado cheated and was the least deserving

Still, Tornado cheated and
Tornado cheated

They didn't cheat. It complied with the rules, it was just a smart way to get around them... the gits.
Anyway, Isn't there already another thread for this?
-
There is, and this is the wrong place for this thread as it is.
-
Gonna change the subject since tornado annoys me(opinionated)
I remember hearing on a video (by votesaxon07 I believe) that mentioned the only reason typhoon won S7, was because the judges outlawed rammers or anything with static weapons and they didn't like storm 2 because it rarely used it's lifter and the final judge was biassed, anyone else heard this story?
-
Robot wars. Favourite thing since I was 2. Favourite robot... Dantomkia. Why don't they do smaller replicas of house robots (real obviously and/or even use R/C ones for Featherweight's), put panels up like they used to back in 05- whenever they took them down, let heavyweights have spinning weapons, keep the pods like they are now, remove the wire because robots still get thrown through, have a main UK tournament that gets televised and keep the other events untelevised? WHY????

Yes, it's true. It's on storms' website. On his video it also said in Tornado v Storm 2 Tornado was pitted but they raised the pit. Shocking as Storm II was a great robot that was brutal and equally entertaining.
-

The featherweights are massively more powerful than the RC House Robots, and larger.
let heavyweights have spinning weapons
That's a matter of health, safety and very high insurance bills.

Good luck finding a station willing to take RW on.
It's unreasonable. And please, a mod, somewhere, move this topic XD it's driving my OCD insane.
-
How about the GOOD moments of the show because we don't need another rant on how the competition stands now, the storm2 contreversy and the most boring of all whenever tornado actually cheated or not.
-
The lower weight categories were always my highlight.
-
I think my favourite bits were just mainly whenever Hypno-Disc or Panic Attack were performing well, although I did enjoy PA24K's last match, being ripped open by Matilda etc. The lower weightclasses were always fun too.
-
I try to enjoy Robot Wars but I keep finding myself getting pissed off at how manufactured and/or rigged it always appears to be. The obstacle courses from the original couple series were enjoyable but the combat has always felt lacking. I guess it's also because the house robots are pretty much a full weight class above the competitors so the damage done there's less of an instance of impressive engineering and more of a demonstration of what ~40kg of extra weight can do for a weapon system.
Also, there are so many robots that just don't move when the battles start. :(
-

the antweight fights were awesome

1. This is why I suggested the arena panels like in 2005 and roboteer pods. Insurance... Touché
2. BBC, Even Dave or Challenge who currently aire series 2 now?
-
ohh series 7
has my favorite robots in it but has those dumb static weapon rules
i really wanted to see atomic win
also X-terminator
typhoon 2 was the first eliminated in the annihilator
kan opener won so that had nothing to do with the results of the main competiton
the middleweight division had some great foreshadowing of the outcome
oh and TERRORHURTZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why did you not go farther in series 7
i mean he won the competition the year afterwards and couldnt even compete
/ rant

There is, and this is the wrong place for this thread as it is.
sorry i just clicked the wrong link and didnt relise till it was to late

It's cool, it's been moved to the right place now. :)

The production of a series is a huge huge risk, the producer had to take on about 100 thousand pounds of debt just to get Series 1 off the ground. So that's a bit different than airing reruns. Perhaps they could get some kind of educatipn grant by replacing philippa forrester and jonothan pearce with engineers. Or they could get an embarassing photo of Sir Alan Sugar, and blackmail him into funding it.
-

yeah! that seems like a good idea
-
You can't replace Jonathan Pearce, how many engineers do you know that can find 14 different things that rhyme with "arena floor flipper"?

What really annoyed me is how they knew Terrorhurtz wasn't going to compete well in advance and they didn't replace him with another machine because that's would be too sensible. :vista:

well killerhurtz was either under the copyright battlebots law or was still buried in the desert and if they brought a new machine and it did not do well they would have looked dumb. terrorhurtz always had been unreliable so it made sense

Wait killerhurtz was buried in a desert?
-
The axe head was buried in the Nevada Desert after every BattleBots competition so John didn't have to take it through customs, then he'd come dig it up again next year.

That's pretty much the most baller thing to do.

it did have its own RC toy, so that was most likely why
-
The flipside to that thought is that Blendo had an RC toy as well that looked nothing like the robot at all, and Vlad II bore no resemblance to the original Vlad that was turned into merchandising. :P
-

But how did he know where he put it?

(WITCHCRAFT)
obviously he would just hold the controller on terrorhurtz down for an hour and wherever it landed was where it was buried
(at least that would be a great image) probably a flag or something maybe ...
A TREASURE MAP! that has to be the next pirates of the caribean movie plot that would be great
-
Or, you know, beside one of the many mile marking signs that pepper US highways.

What RFS said, or just using a map and a compass, youknow.
-
dose any one no what happend to chaos 2 arter its last battle did thay fix it or sell it
-
As far as I'm aware personally, George still has it but he has retired from the robot combat community and is focusing on his current career.
-
i wonder if he'll ever sell it
-
Random robot wars fact. (that I'm not 100% sure of, so correct me if I'm wrong ) S3 is the only robot with a vertical disc to beat another robot with a horizontal disc/horizontal discs(it beat shredder in the Series 6 heat d final)
-
Pussycat vs Hypnodisc pretty sure there are some more
-
Revolution 3 vs Scrapper in S7 - St agro may have finished him off but not before revo broke his disc.
X-Terminator vs Diabolus was the same story, only more violent.
-
Interesting fact: Steve Harper who helped judge Series 3 was my primary school teacher's husband.

The Mute Team are awesome because they're from Stoke . I think they're the only competitors from my home town and they did quite well in New Blood.

:gunz: lets go find the person who stoped robot wars its clear we all miss it, i dont see why thay stopped it? :ouch:
-
I don't think you can find just that one single person. It's probably a grpup of people.
-
:gunz: lets go find the person who stoped robot wars its clear we all miss it, i dont see why thay stopped it? :ouch:
There's a lot more to it then that they where tons of stuff such as inconsistent scheduling, producer interference and a general lack of care by five witch lead to a disappointing view count witch lead to cancelling the show and well you know the rest.
-

That's completely irrelevant to this topic, put it in a thread in the Games section rather than in Real Robotics.
Also consider editing your first post instead of posting twice in quick succession in future.
-
:yaya) i jjust wanted freinds lol but any way what happend to the arena someone told me it got sold for £250 to the air force wtf?
-
No, Ed Hoppit from Team Storm bought it, but didn't pick it up in time before the lot was scrapped. That's the simplified version anyway.
-
Shame but in a way it was for the best.
-
wow its a shame tho none of the less maby one day some one will make a show with the same hopes and dreams and maby it will work. i know theres mini tournaments around the word but its not as good as robot wars was. PS i know this is off topic but couldsomeone find any leads to a android game or something cuz we need one...like now
-
ITT: One very annoying noob jerks off to Robot Wars.
