There is none of that here. There is no relatable measuring at all. Only size.
Indeed. If this is anything to go by, bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. Heck, if you were to enter a proper fighting robot into this, something like Brutality or Last Rites, they could probably beat all the glorified wind-up toys at once.

Well to be fair there would be clear range issues allowing that.
Put this onto your signature if you were part of this crappy fad in '03.

NBC took down most of the RFL videos (all the fight-only videos and all full episodes except the 1st 2 episodes.) Now they want you to pay $2 Dollars to watch an episode on youtube. WTF?!
Man this needed an update. Anyways, Your local autistic idiot signing out.

Geez guys, I can understand you guys not liking it for not being traditional robot combat, but I think you guys are letting nostalgia get the best of you. I know many of us had robot combat as something we enjoyed, and some of us grew up with it and had it as part of our childhoods, but you guys want to judge it against something its trying not to be. Battlebots had an enormous amount of filler, much worse than than RCL, Robot Wars had some serious problems with some battles getting rigged, such as Mortis in season two and the whole Storm2 fiasco, not to mention being somewhat gimicky in the form of the house bots, and Robotica is a whole other can of worms.
Robot combat in general has stagnated a bit. All the major bots in the UK are mechanically the same, and most major US bots are either huge monster spinners, heavily armored wedges, or a lifter of some kind(If you think I'm exaggerating, just take a look at botrank, and tell me the first three historically ranked heavyweight bots)
Just let it be its own thing, if you disregard then staged pyrotechnics, the matches are pretty decent(although, one of the teams does come from my state, so take that as you will.) Give the show time, compare bots from the first Robot Wars to the seventh. If the show lives to see season two, the bots will improve, get quicker, the pace will find its stride, and the bots will get interesting.

Even if I'd never seen RW/BB before I'd still think it was junk.

It's the stupid drama.

That's where most of us differ from you. Do you know for a fact that they'll figure out that people want more gameplay and less drama?  Or will they observe that reality TV shows are getting the best Nielsen ratings?

The thing is, it's not a robot combat show. It's a reality show with robot combat elements.
They aren't going to drop the reality show part because that's the whole point to them.

Down to the final four robots.  The fourth robot came from the Wildcard match between Steel Cyclone and Thunder Skull

The matches are:

Crash vs Scorpio and Steampunk vs Steel Cyclone.
Battlebots 7: LW Quarterfinals - Voltergeist
Battlebots 7: MW Quarterfinals - Dr. Demolition
Battlebots 8: MW Quarterfinals - Dr. Demolition
Battlebots 9: HW Quarterfinals - Texas Tornado
Battlebots 9: Middleweight Champion - Dr. Demolition
Minor Inconveniences: Runners-up - Hot Rod/Voltergeist
TGRR2 IRL: Texas Tornado 11 wins - 10 losses

It's a shame that you're all wasting time shouting about meaningless things when I think everybody there can agree on the the real problem; it's a reality show at its core with too much focus on the people and their reactions, personal struggles, etc. that no one really cares about (except the reality show junkies, but if we want to make progress we have to stop being content with appealing to the lowest common denominator).  Even if the robots look like crap and move like drunk irishmen, no one could complain about more fights in each episode.

If that was directed at me I did make a few points about the bullsh**ty reality TV aspect (or at least I thought I did.)
