Title: Robot Combat Kickstarters
Post by: Trovaner on November 04, 2014, 01:23:02 AM
Just thought I should point these two kickstarters out:
1. Bring Robot Combat Back to Your Screen (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1555995549/bring-robot-combat-back-to-your-screen) - a new robot combat series using footage from next year's RoboGames competition.

2. MegaBots: Giant Fighting Robots (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/megabots/megabots-live-action-giant-robot-combat) - an attempt at creating a new sport where competitors fight using giant humanoid mechas.

I dunno about the mecha. I doubt they're allowed to use real guns.

the second one looks sweet. Because mechas.

But yeah. I think it's too good to be true.

look at what happened to robot combat league

we thought it was going to be like real steel

it ended up looking like a couple of glorified randomly exploding tin cans cuddling, i mean, quite as bit of cash mustve went into those things, but alas they still were far from what anybody expected.

Wasn't RCL staged? From what I saw, it already looked fake and souless

Also, that second fundraiser isn't going to get fully funded. Too ambitious

First one only needs $1500 more with 3 days left.

First one needs just under $500, I'm pretty sure they can make that happen - which means I'll be $25 deeper into my overdraft lol

Holy !£^%, 1.8 million to do basicaly the same thing as that cancerous trainwreck Robot Combat League??? Is it getting a little hot in here, Icarus?

Seriously though, I hope people support robogames, it's not just a fighting event, it's a community outreach program.

Was that $500 in about 5 hours? Very nice. Can't wait to see what happens with RoboGames.

We should get ACAMS to pledge $150,000 and have GTM be the premier sponsor.

Grant Imahara tweeted about it - I'd wager most people found it through him.

Wouldn't it be cool if he brought back Deadblow for one last show? Even a demo would be cool.

Great news with RoboGames.

MegaBots... they're probably promising too much with the explosions and stuff, but what they have looks badass with just the spud cannons. I'd put money down if I had some to throw around and they weren't comically underfunded.

I'm hyped for Robogames to come to life again. Megabots however, not so much. They're asking for a whole lot to have that reach it's goal.
