The disc scares me. not cause of its speed.. it`s unstable.. ab bit :P
But I was thinking to modify my old tyco car as well (It was once the Cakebox of Doom with 2 ramming screws ;D )
looks nice for a very first try and at least the box was scewed.

There`s a mistake in the headline.

oops. I know about the disc. I'm working on a new mount and looking for a better engine on kinetic bot parts. (Thanks, fellow GTM members!)

EDIT: There's a mistake in your post. XD

I must say the disc really does suck, it wouldnt really do anything to my practically no armoured ant, no offense.

It's his  first time. Joe, put some box cutter blades on it.

The topic says first ant so I think it`s ok to try different things.

Yeah, I know. But it's all I had besides a plastic ruler! XD (I DID Tape the ruler on five or ten minutes ago, however.) I will have a video of it soon.

What's new?

1. a plastic ruler XD
2. Braced motor-mount
3. Moved antena

We have an Ace Hardware about fourty miles away in Raton, NM. I'll save some allowance to get a cheap saw blade. For now, it'll be a ruler.

EDIT: the blade wasn't too bad, it was just off-centered.

BTW if you're into building bots it's good to have a part box somewere, I have two!

I have plenty of wiring and remotes, if that's what you mean. I have some old ten-gauge (I think) speaker wire from my old soundsystem, and some old ciurcut board I got off of ebay. I have owened probably thirty wal-mart specials, and have the remotes to them. I just need motors.

Speaking of motors, would this be any good? http://kineticbotparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=30 (http://kineticbotparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=30)

Also, here's my update:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKVYp7s4xCQ# (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKVYp7s4xCQ#)

EDIT: I just relized how disgusting that floor was... and I ATE that honey-bun?! (The price of being fat, I suppose... You eat EVERYTHING!!)

The motor sounds like someone fapping XD

I was halfway building an ant like yours, the weapon kept getting loose so I scrapped it.

I know what you mean... I found some ?recipritating? saw blades and hot glued them together, then glued them to the blade. One of the saw blades cam flying off and hit the wall, It left a pretty good ding. It did, however, cut a good sized hole in the original RC's body. (On the 1st hit, afterwards it came loose and flew off!)

For a motor like that you need a brushless ESC (electronic speed controller) like this one http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-EFLA325H.html (http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-EFLA325H.html)

They don't connect into store bought RC car RC interfaces so then you need to buy a new RC interface. http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-SPM5500.html (http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-SPM5500.html) and http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-SPM6000BR.html (http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/0-SPM6000BR.html)

After that you need a new ESC for the drive motor http://banebots.com/pc/ELECTRONICS/BB-0309 (http://banebots.com/pc/ELECTRONICS/BB-0309) because you RC car one isn't compatible with a hobby grade RC interface.

So I recommend not getting that motor if this is a just for fun project because you will end up spending about $200. Also don't place your blade directly on the motor. It causes extra stress on the motors shaft and electronics of the RC car. If you were to get the Outrunner motor you would need a lot more than Electrical Tape to hold it down.

Yikes! good to know! I go to the robot market place, also!

Outrunners are a builder's best friend, they come cheap(er) and get the job done. If you are committed to build a good bot, I would look at twisted sick robotics showcase in the member's robot section, alot of good VS designs. Remember, an adequate robot might costs 2 to 3 times more than you originally plan on spending.
