What are your TOP 5 most hated robots of all time? You don't need reasons, just post away.
5. Aggrobot (For unfairly beating Razer in Series 3 and not doing anything otherwise.)
4. 101 (Horribly slow, Weapon of a Lightweight, and easy to kill.)
3. Chassius Chrome (Looked like crap, acted like crap, was crap. Nuff said.)
2. Tornado (The SCAFFOLDING INCIDENT)
1. Vercingetorix/Hydra (How much more of a Mortis clone can you possibly BE!?)
-
2. Tornado (The SCAFFOLDING INCIDENT)
Why does that make you hate it? Do you think it cheated?
5. Aggrobot (For unfairly beating Razer in Series 3)
How the heck is how Aggrobot won unfairly beating Razer?
You seem to be a Razer fanboy. I hope that is not the case.
My thoughts on a general list of robots that people will say (I only personally hate one of these):
*Razer
*Tornado
*Typhoon
*Storm II
*Tough As Nails
My Hated Robots:
*Razer
-
101 was no way slow FOTEPX, it was pretty fast.
-
Yes, but did it do any damage? NO.
Could it easily be beaten? YES.
Would it get trashed in RR? YES.
-
Most of these aren't even valid reasons for hating the bots (but I do have to agree on Hydra).
-
Yes, but did it do any damage? NO.
Could it easily be beaten? YES. no, how did it get to the semi finals then :P
Would it get trashed in RR? YES. no
-
It wouldn't get trashed (Unless it faced Thor, Terrorhurtz or Scorpion). It would get BEATEN though. There's a difference FOTEPX.
-
5. Panic Attack (Rammer with Lifter = BORING!)
4. Pussycat (Very Very annoyng...)
3. Typhoon (Destructive, but Unfair)
2. Storm II (Too Fast, Too Annoying)
1. Razer (Most Boring Robot IMO.)
-
as much as I love Razer it lost fair and square to Aggrobot
I dislike Tornado number 1 as there was so many times things were tipped intentionally in there favor and they didn't bother with it.. I would feel really ill if I beat another robot when the pit was raised up for me, etc
on an interesting note, the frame tactic, going back and reviewing the footage of the S6 finals I think it was another Tornado screw job like when it faced Storm 2
reasoning... Craig spoke about that frame and said something along the lines of "being small enough to fit in the pit still" and he got the reply "we built it to the max size they would let us which is much bigger then the pit" so apparently the rules Craig knows and the ones Tornado were told were to different things
-----------
but that aside I can only see problems coming out of this thread.. so keep it clean and just accept what others say and dont let me catch you fighting about it.
-
Typhoon 2 (Cos i think they intentionally destroyed the wall and they lied in the interview after beating Storm 2 cos Mentorn let them FIX the robot and didnt let Storm 2 have the same treatment)
Sir Chromalot (Their robots were a complete joke. But they were great entertainment though)
Tornado (Scaffolding incedent and how the team were rather unsporting when losing to razer in the european championship)
Razer (Every fight that involved Razer and Behemoth i think was rigged. world champs final. Razer was over for 54 seconds. Yet won Southern annihalator Razer on its side for more than a minute. All Stars around 40 seconds)
More to come. Just cant think of anymore at the moment
-

Tornado are correct in this instance. The frame was perfectly legal size wize and in every other way.
-
Oh BTW, I hate Season 6 Tornado! It was so poor bot, Razer should have won the battle.
-
Could you elaborate?
-
Well, it was too big and didn't drop to pit...
-
It was not too big. What give you that idea?
-
They did claim it to be an anti-pit device. basically it was impossible to immobilize it or pit it or anything. Thats being called cowards. But believe it or not i dont really care cos its your opinion this is mine and its here to stay.
-
It was not too big. What give you that idea?
Dunno... Remember, That Razer's Crusher didn't Reach Tornado's Chassis.
-
It did. But your argument doesn't make it illegal in any way.
-
It did. But your argument doesn't make it illegal in any way.
Razer still beat Tornado IMO.
-
That's perfectly fine and I respect your opinion, but it's not what your original claim was.
-
I hate Tornado for that tactic, however, by using it, they DID win - fairly.
-
GK were you talking to me or Jonzu.
Anyways. Shall we move on from tornado before we rip each others heads off
-
Yup. I hated Panic Attack, because it was boring. It had Lifter, which didn't do any effect or flip opponents.
-
Jonzu.
-
wat
-
I did not like Gravedigger. It was pretty much a Cassius rip-off. Though they did make it to the semi's. I also dont like them cos they beat Mortis, my fave robot. The armour. What the heck was it made of? it got damaged easily.
-
Panic Attack was a legend! XD Kim's driving was amazing. If PA is boring, then I hate to see people's opinions on Storm II etc.
Anyway. I don't like Tornado. As I think I've probably made clear. :P
-
I liked almost every Robot.
Why do so many people hat clones? Why not taking a weaponery of a bot the was succesfull and try to improve it?So Axe Awe,Iron Awe, Comengetorix and Hydra are clones of Mortis. Firestorm, Gravedigger, UFO and Mute are clones of Cassius. M2, Atomic, Gravity, Wheely Big Cheese, Dantomkia, Iron Awe, Kronic the Wedgehog, Prizephita, Thermidor and all the others are clones of Chaos 2.
The one bot I hate is Thyphoon 2 since it was overpowerd for the Robot Wars TV SHOW
-
I liked Earlier version of Tornado. It was Fast, Invertible & Powerful.
-
for the tornado topic.. one thing I am sure of.. it would have been a different story if RW allowed Warhead to enter :P I would have loved to see it compete in the UK.
Anyways. Shall we move on from tornado before we rip each others heads off
yes there is no point debating since its 7 years in the past :P
-
I don't understand the problem with Tornado's extra armor used against Razer. As long as it is under the weight limit in its heaviest configuration and safe enough for the arena to contain it there is no reason a robot should be barred from compitition. It may seem "cheap" to some people that Tornado was allowed to change mid compitition but that is perfectly legal. There is no rule that says you aren't allowed to change your bot. Just watch Wedge of Doom VS Code Black and then another fight with wedge of doom. I don't see anyone complaining about that when WoD changed his wedge.
If it means anything to you guys I will be running interchangable armor next event I fight at.
-
I feel it ruined the spirit of competition myself.... but obviously its related to RW's having stupid flaws in there rules which also brings my point of very obvious rigging in RW.. no doubt,
but its a production television show not actual competition so just enjoy the drama for what it is because thats why its there, if you want straight up fighting watch battlebots imo.
-
My least favourite is either the gold panic attack for sheer dissapointment value, or sir chromalot.
I mean i remember at the time it being in a lot of battles and it was useless in every one.
-
Welcome to the forums Scorpion! :welcome
-
Hey welcome!
-
What they should have done for Robot Wars is that if a bot couldn't actually fall into the pit then it was disqualified. I mean REALLY.
-
I hate rogue drones. So friggen annoying. It's almost a chore to kill them.
AND THEY SPROUT UP LIKE WEEDS
-
What they should have done for Robot Wars is that if a bot couldn't actually fall into the pit then it was disqualified. I mean REALLY.
well this comes to my point I made earlier.. Craig was under the impression they had to fit in the pit while Tornado said "they allowed that size"
if you ask me.. with RW's known rigging I say they stretched the rules for it.. most likly to create more drama (its a TV show after all) otherwise the final would have been a win for razer straight away which would have been as exciting as Bigger Brother v Razer in series 5 with Bigger Brother having mass damage.
-
There WAS a size limit, and Tornado WAS within it.
-
There WAS a size limit, and Tornado WAS within it.
^See?^
-
There WAS a size limit, and Tornado WAS within it.
no need to caps at me I can read fine :P
I understand you feel strongly about that ? (I also understand you hate razer) but it seems odd to me when a host for 5 years doesn't know the rules to the show ? I do feel that there is a plausibility to what I said due to obvious tainting the show has had before..
im not saying I am positive because it could be an easy flaw in the ruleset just giving food for thought, I love robot wars having grown up with them but there is a lot of changing and stretching due to it intentionally being TV over a sport
-

Agreed

touché
I understand you feel strongly about that
Not really, just making sure the facts are out there.
I also understand you hate razer
Whatever gave you that idea? :P
-
Yup. I hated Panic Attack, because it was boring. It had Lifter, which didn't do any effect or flip opponents.
You did not just insult Panic Attack :rage

I didn't see that first time i posted here!
Anyway, P.A=Chaos 2=Razer=Hypno-disk=Tornado best not bring that up again
-
Good point there Scorpion :P
Anyway...anyone who's read some previous comments will probably know who my least favourite robot is...
-
5. Panic Attack (Rammer with Lifter = BORING!)
4. Pussycat (Very Very annoyng...)
3. Typhoon (Destructive, but Unfair)
2. Storm II (Too Fast, Too Annoying)
1. Razer (Most Boring Robot IMO.)
Wow THOSE are your most hated bots!
P.A = My Favourite robot of them all
Pussycat = really cool design and really fun to watch
Typhoon = shouldn't have won season 7 but was still very cool
Storm II = brilliant, even if it didn't have a weapon it still caused havok
Razer = Erm i really liked razer, but i thought that nobody in the world didn't like razer untill this thread.
-
Those...are...Jonzu's...most hated bots. Apart from Typhoon 2....right.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go to uh...the travel agent. To book a holiday in Finland.
*Sharpens axe and books flight to Finland*
-
Razer = Erm i really liked razer, but i thought that nobody in the world didn't like razer untill this thread.
it actually is very controversial... I personally love Razer, the first ever Robot Wars match I ever saw was Razer vs Techno-Lease
-
I hate the judges for series 7 finals.
-
its not entirely on topic.. but yes :P
-

Well after the hour long conversation with about 20 people i had a few weeks back at school no-one said they didn't like razer.
They all seemed to love razer and hypno-disk for destruction and P.A for being the coolest and were kind of indiferent to chaos 2 and tornado.
-
Oh no... My best friend will kill me... :'(
-
Oh no... My best friend will kill me... :'(
No, I just want to play Hospitals with you...

Well, there's always the hold and stuff to declare.
Then Jonzu, I hope you can run
-
1. Vercingetorix/Hydra (How much more of a Mortis clone can you possibly BE!?)
Vercingetorix Was Just Born Awful, Hydra Is Actually Alot More Independant Than Mortis Than When It First Came Out...
(also, you're talking to hydra's owner. be careful next time :))
-
I don't hate many british 'bots, but the one I hate the most is Razer. Always destroyed my favourite 'bots. But his Battlebots version, Warhead, was actually pretty awesome.
-
Rhino Halon, thread over.
I'll elaborate. Its weapon was halon gas, a gas that causes internal combustion engines to stall. This was back in 1997, when most robots did infact use internal combustion engines. I'll concede that it only beat one robot (The Scorpion), but still, I can think of no cheaper tactic than beating a robot without even touching it.
-
it probally wouldnt be the only reason people didnt like it...Halon Gas can be rather dangerous to be pumping into an enclosed room.
-
I don't hate many british 'bots, but the one I hate the most is Razer. Always destroyed my favourite 'bots. But his Battlebots version, Warhead, was actually pretty awesome.
I have to agree with you completely.

Ah, just saw this again. It's reminded me...
*Arrives in Tampere, and unsheathes axe again*
-
GF, You have to travel 100km's to North-East. Then you find Jämsä. And me. :P
-
Panic Attack was awesome!
-
Boring.
-
It's a lifter. Very few lifters are not boring.
-
So you guys just like spinners? Yeah true: Spinners arn`t boring. They got the one and only tactic: "I got a spinning disc/bar and just drive into the opponent". That`s totaly not boring. Fu*k driving skills of a lifterbotdriver!
-
I liek Flippers.
-
Kim Daives was a great driver, you've gotta admit.
-
Personally, I preferred Scallywag over Panic Attack, but as far as I remember, I still couldn't recall any instance of PA being 'boring'. You can't expect IRL combat to be like RA2, where AC vs. AC leads to nearly 72 maces scattered around the arena.
-
but you guys know that sarcasm filled my post?
-
Very few lifters are not boring.
Storm 2 was a lifter...... and very fast/ powerful rammer but thats beside the point :P
-

Storm 2 mostly used his drive rather than weapon for fighting his opponents... that's a rammer for you.
And hence "very few" I count Biohazard notably in the very few.
-
but you guys know that sarcasm filled my post?
Yeah. :P
-
but you guys know that sarcasm filled my post?
NO WAI ! Thyrus is using sarcasm ??? That totally IS UNHEARD OF :O
-
just saying cause NateF doesn`t seems to know
-
boring if different with viewing standpoint and a controlling standpoint
Spinners...
fast weapons, lots of destruction, flying parts, sometimes sparks, etc makes it great from a viewers standpoint
basic predictable strategy or avoid, hit, avoid, hit makes it boring from a controlling standpoint
personally I <3 Watching and Controlling them :P
-
Boring.
Heck, it was better than Steel Avenger at least!
Well, Panic Attack didn't need feather dusters to win fights against flippers :yaya)

I like almost all kinds...except for grabbers that don't do damage.
Cheap as Chips, I'm looking at you.

Panic Attack did do damage...
...in dsl atleast ;)

But in real life, lifters can do damage under certain circumstances...did you see The Big Cheese vs Shrapnel?

Well i have now.
Also, I can distinctly remember a match where P.A ripped off either one of shunt's or sgt bash's tires.

Also, I can distinctly remember a match where P.A ripped off either one of shunt's or sgt bash's tires.
It also knocked off Matilda's shell in its fight against Axios (Flipping her over as well), and knocked out Sgt Bash's saw motor in its qualifying battle against Whirling Dervish in Series 2.

I was directing my comment towards Jonzu.

Yes! You agree, there is a God! :approve:
-
Why do you guys have to be so narrow minded about that?
-
I hated Napalm, too.
-
I hated Napalm, too.
Napalm was useless, it basically just tickled the robots.
-
Others:
Mousetrap & Sir Chromealot: Made it by luck.
-
Others:
Mousetrap & Sir Chromealot: Made it by luck.
I liked mousetrap (I was gonna enter it for RW2) it was unique, atleast a character.
Sir chromalot was crap though.
-
Others:
Mousetrap & Sir Chromealot: Made it by luck.
Admittedly, I liked Mousetrap. Could have done with a srimech, though.
But one that was very bad, as Sonny pointed out earlier, was Warhog.
-
My thoughts on Tough as Nails
His tactic on just dumping a bot down the pit was boring, but that got it far in the competition, everyone wants to win (unless you build a bot like Napalm, that bot screamed "destroy me"). I think TAN's design was smart and well made if you ignore the exposed back.
-
I also like Mousetrap. Looked cool. I do NOT like Biohazard though. I hate how they won every season by tipping everything onto a wall and into the hazards >=(
-
Biohazard was another well-made bot with a boring tactic.
You want horrible bots
Battlebots - Abattoir (I think I mentioned this bot before)
Robot Wars - The Creature, 3 Stegs to Heaven
I'll mention more when I remember
-

Well, Napalm was decent enough in Series 2, but it quickly became redundant later on.
Now TAN? Its tactics were what got me most. What excitement its battles had before were quickly turned into boring, predictable scaled-up games of UFO Grabber. Just ask Gravity and Disc-O-Inferno. Never did any damage either, come to mention it.
And we could've had Gravity in the Third World Championship, but noooo.
-
Immortalis.
What were they thinking?
-

What were they thinking?
"It was Piece de Resistance, and now it's a piece of scrap"

Well yeah, Napalm was good in the first few seasons but as bots were getting better and destructive, they just stayed in the same place.
Another bot I disliked was S.L.A.M. (BattleBots Las Vegas 1999 version). Its weakness was a HUUGE downfall and whoever saw this event knows what I'm talking about.

A little bit like Chaos 2, almost. The key difference being that Chaos 2 was amazing :approve:

Chaos 2 were good, but should've done some modifications cause as soon as everyone started using Co2 flippers, Chaos 2 were starting to be no better than the rest of the flippers. Chaos 2 will always be epic though.

Yeah...sadly it did get a bit outclassed later in life. But it will always have that unmatched RW 20-match winning streak, and being the first robot to put another out of the arena
And in contrast, other than the Best Newcomer award in Series 6, what did Dantomkia win in comparison? (Just an example ;) )
-

True, I lol'd when I saw Chaos 2 go OOTA.
-
How do you guys feel about Fat Boy Tin? For I while, I wanted to find the match it was in after seeing a picture in a book.
-
Fat Boy Tin looked cool, but wasn't effective.
-
Granny's Revenge... :laughing
-

What is the difference between this and razer ?
-
Why you guys hatin' on TaN? It's basically the most intelligently designed robot ever, and absolutely beautiful to watch in battle. #1 on my list of all-time favourites.
-
though I don't like it you cant blame pit dumping on TaN.. its RW fault for adding a pit button.. should have kept the series 4 system when it opens after a robot is defeated IMO
TaN were just exploiting the arena to great success :gawe:
-

QFT^Over 9000
Thanks R0B0.
-
Chaos 2 sucked. I started hating it as soon as it beat Stinger, which was my favorite bot at the time. It was a good bot at the time but as soon as they got a Full Pressure flipper they started failing.
I also hated Gemini. They were interesting but were dull after a while (thank you Reactor 2)
Then after a while I hated Wild Thing for beating Prizephita.
-

I just switched off the TV and had a bit of a Heroic BSOD moment :(
-
I lol'd too.. but I loved DanTomKia :gawe:

Dantomkia was a cool design, that's why everyone forgave it for OOTAing everyones childhood favourites.
-
Like Hypno-Disc and Behemoth...
-
Chaos 2, Panic Attack...
-
King B Powerworks...
-
King B Powerworks...
Well, that's a bit of a stretch.
-
It was still a good bot IMO.
-
It was still a good bot IMO.
Yeah it was.
Just not a crow favourite like any of the aforementioned robots.

Well, it was the only one named after a character from The Magic Roundabout.
Apart from Ruf Ruf Dougal, maybe. But that sucked.
-
Oh. I hate Dantomkia. It had a design full of gimmicks and got outwedged (shame on them for not having a snapper wedge :P)
I also hate:
Hammer and Tong
Wild Thing (already mentioned but is my no. 1 least favourite bot)
Mace 2
Behemoth
Pussycat
Razer (kind of. I used to like razor but it's got boring)
My favourite bots are:
Robochicken
Bulldog Breed
Barberous 2
and Tetanus Booster.

Robochicken
Bulldog Breed
Barberous 2
and Tetanus Booster.
Do you just hate all the popular robots?
Seems to be a general rule, really. Other than Cassius II, most of the ones I like seem to be very well-known.

LOL Hammer and Tong suuuuuuuckeeeeeeeeed...

Why Behemoth?

Just had a moment of RW Extreme Fridge Logic.
During that battle between Chaos 2, 13 Black and Razer (Arguably a dethroning moment of suck for both Chaos 2 and Razer), I noticed that after Chaos 2 broke down, Razer kept attacking it after it was immobilised to try and destroy it...
...the very same thing they were bitching about in Series 4! Hypocrites.

It pretty much worked thoguh didn't it.
They apparently had to work on chaos 2 a lot to get it working again
why they didn't buid a chaos 3 at this time i will never know.

What worked? Surely they could've been able to tell Chaos 2 was immobilised instead of teaming up with everyone to try and utterly destroy it after immobilisation.
And yes, after that bout, it underwent a massive internal overhaul to get it working for displays again, but not for actual battles.
Likewise, in Series 7, the main teams and captains of the Robot Wars "Superbots" (EG. Chaos 2, HypnoDisc, Razer) were taking a break that year to allow some new teams a chance, and also to dedicate time to improving their robots.
I heard there was a HypnoDisc v2 in the works until RW was cancelled.

there was no agreement in that match to leave the opponent if the other had won... there was for the series 4 match but Pussycat continued the attack after they were beaten.. that was the problem. ;)
also the career ending damage to Chaos 2 was done by Psycho, not Razer from what I heard
also its Hypnodisc 4 that was in the works for Series 8 :P
1 = S3
2 = S4/S5
3 = S6/ E2 (the unreliable one)
-
I thought it was just a slightly tweaked version of Hypnodisc that went through the series. It was Pussycat 2 in the first Extreme, but everyone still called it Pussycat.

What happened to hypno-disk anyway, I've not heard much about it being in demonstrations TBH.

They all chipped in, really. 13 Black immobilised it, Razer then attacked it from behind repeatedly, 13 Black came in and tried to hit it again, and then it was flipped on the floor flipper, Mr Psycho hammered it repeatedly, crushed its chassis, carried it around the arena, and then pitted it.
Disproportionate retribution :FFFUUU

nope 1 and 2 were completely different machines (there is a picture of them together in there archived site)
2 was upgraded due to the larger weight limit in S5
3 was 2's chassis IIRC but all the electronics were new and so was the disc.
in case you haven't figured out Hypnodisc is in fact my favorite all time robot.. I know it quite well :gawe: (it was also a heavy contributor to the inspiration for Backlash)

I don't like hypnodisc
If hypnodisc was never built, then 360 would never have been built either
Saying that, I have beat 360 but never lost to it, but 360 did cause damage that took about a month to repair.

That was pretty harsh. Impressive how it went out though.

Nice work on beating that beast, though :approve:
-
360 = epic win with awesomesauce on top :gawe:
it was epically unlucky to go out like that
-
No, it was my good driving :P
Come to think of it, I took out Savage AND 360 in that fight, & beauty did nothing but get torn apart

Quite ironic considering it's the European Featherweight Champion.

looked like you were on the ass end of that ass kicking :P
360 seems to have similar troubles to Warhead.. I wonder if the disc has the same technology as Hypnodisc (it was quite cleaver what they did)

Not really, that was the 2009 Tag Team UK Championships, we WON the 2009 Tag Team UK Championships
-
Although might I ask, what was damaged in that fight with 360?
-
It was all superficial. The hardox flipper was twisted, the hardox frame was ripped in certain areas & so was the HDPE armour

Well, from what I could see, I bet you were glad you had the Hardox Armour, eh? ;)
Beauty 2 wasn't so lucky :ouch:

Personally I hated Pussycat because it got lucky in its matches against Hypno-Disc and Razer.
