Well I figured I'd make a little thread for my legit real life robotics. I've gotten an RC car and a few other messy piles of electronics and mechanics so I'm going to try to get a working model/mockup of a sportsman class bot up and running sometime this summer. Wish me luck.
-
hmm, i can see where your going wrong:
"rc car"
stop there, get some drills for like $20 each or some cheapy $5 servos and know something up with those-much better
-
Yeah, RC cars are bad, look at Haz's direction as for how you can make a very cheap robot without the use of an RC car :laughing
-
yeah, slightly better than a rc car but you will get shedloads more respect with little servo bot than some kid with an rc car with a pencil on top
-
I do have drills lying around my house now that I think of it.............
................mom someone broke into the garage and stole the drills who could have done this
-
cordless drills mind :laughing

Oh yeah..........
.........mom someone stol 120 dollars from your wallet who could have done this

-

I'm not sure how asking my parents if I could bye stuff off of some random guy on GTM would go.
-
That's why you never ask before doing something.
-
drills- around $20 each
esc around $100 +
batterys, you could use the rubishy drill baterys to start
tx and rx $50
some form of baseplate and some armour $whatever you can scrounge
-
esc around $100 +
Scorpion XL, £40, runs like a dream in Explosion
-
oops, forgot about them, yeah i use one in Murphy's law and my new one
-
Harbor Freight 18v drill motors are great, they put out a little over 1hp and are under a pound. I use em in all 3 of my bots. At $20 they aren't too expensive either. Also I prefer the Sabertooth or Vantec escs over the scorpion ones but that's just me.
There's no way you could make a competitive 30 sport out of an rc car. You'd be worse off than they guys from team Warpz with this trainwreck of a bot.
-
lol pics?
-
never blown a scorpion- blown 3 sabertooths :laughing
pics of what
-
tea m warpz bot
-
what is sportsman class, what weight?? what kind of thing you use for armour?
-
Sportsman Class is 30lbs (13.6kg), no wedges, and must have an active weapon.
I'll see if I have a picture of Warpz on my camera later tonight.
-
so featherweights then ;)
-
Yay grainy shots through lexan...
Here's the picture of Warpz (https://gametechmods.com/uploads/images/8450warpz.jpg) I said I would find
