Lolbump.

By the way, Tornado's frame wasn't intended to stop it going down the pit, it was built so that Razer's beak wouldn't reach the actual machine itself. More of an anti-crusher assembly than an anti-pit.

I'm really not that sure about the top ten, but one of the matches in mine would definitely be Hypno-Disc vs. Firestorm III, UK Series 5 Play-Off for third place. Firestorm had gone through more matches than anyone in the series, having to fight its way back from the loser's melee, both machines were pretty beat up, the fight barely lasted a minute, but it was fast and completely mental in that match. Firestorm even had a crack at Sir Killalot at one point.

also the fact the house robots weren't made to take damage really

they had strong weapons but Matilda, Sgt Bash and Shunt all have fiberglass bodywork which isnt going to do much in the defense department

I loved the house robots myself but having them involved in matches was ok in one way but it wasn't a fair playing field...

the pit would always react the same, the flame pits would, the saws would but the house robots did what they liked

great entertainment value at the conclusion for matches but a little unfair as a arena hazard...

That's why i hate them.

RW was more about show and entertainment than real fighting with over 9000 flames and lights and etc.

it was an entertainment program... Battlebots was more of a sporting event (boxing like intros, drag racing countdown lights, sports style commentary, etc)

From a competitor stand point house robot were not good. They had the potental to tear apart the competitors. I know it's a given that your bot could get destroyed but to know if you lose your bot gets completly destroyed and or fried. (kiss your speed controllers good bye) Or to know that your fight could be meddled with and the outcome affected.
Just some things to look at:

How many times were matches outcomes affected by House Robots?
How many times did RefBot get in the way?

Also take a look at battlebots.

How many times did the sledge hammers kill a bot
Killsaws disable a bot
Hell raisers affect a fight(Nightmare vs SOW comes to mind)

In my mind the best fights occur in empty boxs. Hazards and house robots were there to make it interesting for TV to keep viewers because Wedge vs Wedge gets boring after about the first minute.
