for real tho just use custom title, personal text or signature to denote your preferred pronouns/gender identity if this matters to you
edit: whoops this is a four day bump

this is a supremely bad idea
flamethrowers cannot break other robot's parts off and can't KO chassis, meaning this tournament is going to basically be weaponless boxes smacking into eachother repeatedly with the loser being worn out due to flamethrower damage to the motors slowing the robot to a crawl.
the only way this will work is if you make it a Flamethrower Hybrid tournament where robots must use flamethrowers alongside a second weapon type, with a strict weight limit on how much weaponry the second system can have (75-100kg maybe?)

(Image removed from quote.) AW ring spinner. weapon is a flat motor
chassis is made up of .1kg disc covers, which tbh probably shouldn't be allowed in irl, but hey, it's what the zoomers allow
i'm getting flashbacks to when AS made that horrible rammer with spinning potterwheels as a chassis

Honestly Discord has eventually made this place redundant for everything outside of tournament records/vids and filehosting, but this place acts as a repository for pretty much the whole of RA2 history and shouldn't be dispensed with if it can be avoided.

I feel like I'm missing vast amounts of context here. I also feel like that's a wonderful thing.

I’m not sure this is a good idea lads. We need to be driving as much engagement and activity towards the forums as possible, not away.

hey gamers is this still a thing
could really be a nice shot in the arm for RA2

it ain’t irl because you’ve got no support for the disc beyond that steel plate to the axle: you can’t have spinners mounted from one point like that. Also those side arm things are incredibly thin.

Am I still banned from entering? Won't be offended if the answer is yes.

hey bild is this still happening, are you busy but still able to continue when you've got free time or do you need to pass this on to someone
or is it being worked on and i'm just being impatient
i've got a while before i'm in full time employment, after this week I could probably get some videos going if you need me to, see if I can get a bit of the workload off your back
edit: i've been informed on discord that Bild had to drop RG2. if anyone has the files for RG2 I will gladly attempt to complete at least one of the weight class brackets

Ok, few tips:
All axles must be supported in some way if they aren't directly attached to the motor (this means belted motors like the Perm 132, Perm 80 and Nightmare E-Tek.)
The stock baseplate anchors are a bit outdated. You can either use RA2CF and 10cm Aluminium Extenders, attaching them to the chassis directly to save weight, or use DSL 2.2 anchors (the steel-coloured 10cm cubes).
Multiextenders, while great back in the days of DSL 2.1 Standard, aren't used in IRL because they're ugly and usally major weakpoints.
For IRL, you need to attach supports for external motors at several points to the chassis so they look stable. A single multiextender won't quite do i'm afraid.
Also avoid using steel extenders where you can place armor plates that are generally tougher than extenders, and hold those plates with aluminium or titanium extenders.
Don't worry too much about the quality of your robots right now, you'll get better with time.

See If this did happen, i wouldnt enter because everyone kinda hates me and no one would be my teammate
one: acting like everyone hates you just gets you hated more for being overly dramatic, possibly more hated than you were in the first place so just you do you and don’t worry about it, it’ll be fine in the long run two: i’ll team with you because this post spoke to me on a personal level

basically if your modified events.txt is breaking the game, you probably made a mistake with the formatting. I don't remember how the events.txt thing works but if you tell me what arenas you don't want and what you do want and send over your file, I might be able to get it working for you
i'd advise going in-game and selecting 2 player events, this should reduce the amount of crashing as a result of laggy matches.
unfortunately, if my memory serves me well enough, DSL 2.2 is just a crashy git anyways and sometimes straight up dies and doesn't load properly. welcome to trying to run 2001 shovelware on OS's built after the late noughties. may god have mercy on your soul.
(also, are you that M4 gaming bloke that was trying to build replicas on youtube?)
edit: i just checked, you are. your youtube link under your profile is knackered btw.

Not really our thing, closer to a Robot Combat equivalent of fighting games like Tekken, Street Fighter etc rather than a robot-builder, but hell if it isn't good to have actually decent robot combat games being made.

You Restored robot combat 3%. -Not trying to sound rude, I posted all of Battlebots Season 2.0 and got a big reaction too, I know how cool this feels- And Congrats. I never got to see the Intreverter Deb Bot Whyatica Jav Man heat, so that was cool.
And my old website was the first ever on the Internet to post videos of BattleBots in the first place, but you tend to be a bit more modest about things when you do it for the betterment of the robot combat community.
Excellent post, OP. Do you happen to have Robotica seasons 1 or 3? I think I have all of #2 taped and I only have the latter half of #3 because if I remember right, TLC dumped the entire series into a one-day marathon at short notice and I missed it. I intend to write about Robotica someday so having a complete collection would be neat.
Do you still happen to have the season 2 episodes? I cannot find episode 2 anywhere.
Sorry mate but both of these guys haven't been on the forums in years. Try asking r/Battlebots.
