Existing Games / Robot Champions
« on: July 25, 2019, 01:45:51 AM »
Wondered what the forum thought of this game... And couldn't find a thread. Now in open alpha with 4 different driveable bots, online play coming tomorrow I think?

Got a super arcadey feel which I'm totally down with, probably more than a building-focussed game these days. Great fun and should be awesome online!

Bugglebots is an upcoming beetleweight web series, airing in December on YouTube

You can find more out on the Bugglebots website
www.bugglebots.com

Those of us that were there for filming can attest to how much of a fantastic time it was and honestly, it'll be worth watching. Awesome fights and great production too!

Also I finally got to meet Nate so das good.

Several GTM entrants so tune in to see how we all do ;)

So myself and a few other local people are running events in Bristol, UK now!

https://bristolbotbuilders.com

We've so far run 2 antweight events, both in bars in Bristol, 1 including our Bodgebots tournament, featuring robots made in a few hours that day.

Our next event is BBB3: Beetle Bash, up at UWE on Sunday. In the area and wanna see some robot? Come along! Feel free to message me for details.

Hey

Hey you

Are you stuck with logging in, getting some message like this?

Well my good friend today you are in luck.

Head over to the login page and you'll see a Minutes to Stay Logged In box with an inexplicably large number.

Why not try changing that to something smaller. I tried 90. It worked good. You can still tick Always Stay Logged In anyway!

Hope this helps you good people of GTMland xoxo

For all intents and purposes the thread had gone far enough. Anyone who wishes to discuss this can speak to myself or Kill.

Off-Topic Discussion / GTM Awards 2016 - Discussion
« on: November 28, 2016, 11:27:32 AM »
Hey everyone!

Just thought I'd start the ball rolling with this one, deciding the changes to the awards for this year, as we usually do.

Last year's categories and winners

As last year, I'd personally like to condense the awards a little and also make them more positive instead of rewarding negativity.

That said, here's my current work in progress. Red awards are those we had last year but I propose we remove, and green are brand new awards. Very open to changing any of this. Voting will probably open mid December, DO NOT VOTE NOW.

Tournament Archives / GTM Robot Wars - SBV
« on: October 17, 2016, 06:15:48 PM »

This is Robot Wars!
And this tournament features robots maiming and dismantling each other, all to become the GTM Robot Wars Champion.

Battles will take place inside the bulletproof box of the Robot Wars Arena.

Featuring the Pit, the Flipper, the Spikes and the Fire.

Of course it wouldn't be Robot Wars without our House Robots!
Each fight will feature one of our House Robots - Havox, Stratton, Infrared, Megalodon, Corporal Punishment, Krocodil and Dead Metal!

The format is as follows. There will be 6 heats of 6 robots, for a total of 36 entrants.
The heat will consist of 2 3-way melees, followed by a round robin between the 4 that qualify - 3 points for a KO and 2 for a Judge's Decision. The 2 robots with the most points will go into the Heat Final.
The Heat Winners will progress to the Final episode, where the same format from the heats will take place.

As for the heats, let's check out their lineups! Melee Matchups at the bottom of each spoiler.

I'd love to hear your thoughts and predictions on the bots and heats! Really excited to get this underway! :D

Let the wars begin!

GTMCS entry.

At 17000HP and 150DP, this bot's plows won't necessarily be destroying you, but rather outlasting you.
Or at least that's the theory.

General Support / Beginner's Guide To: Installing Mods
« on: September 29, 2016, 06:13:02 PM »
Greetings! Quick tutorial which may come in handy for future new members. If you are a future new member, hello!

First, to install any of these, your computer will need either WinRAR or 7zip installed. Both are free and completely virus-free. My example pictures will show screenshots of 7zip, but WinRAR is similar. They extract files from compressed formats such as .7z and .rar, but can also do the .zip's your PC will already be able to do.

1) What's the Mod?
Sounds self explanatory, right?
First step is a small amount of research, and this itself comes in several steps.

i. Check if the mod you want to install is available as part of a full, ready-to-go file in the Working Game section of the Downloads. If it is, stop reading this guide and go here. This guide will teach you the steps to installing any mod found in the Working Game section.

ii. If it isn't there, find it in the AI Packs and Patches section. In the description for each pack, you should be able to find out what version of the game you need to install the pack over - for example, Starcore is installed over Stock and Robot Wars 2005 AI is installed over DSL 2.1 or 2.2. Download the AI Pack or patch.

2) Prepare your base game
As you need to install the pack over the game, you need to have the game ready to be installed over. Make sense? Good.
You can either copy and paste a version of the game if you already have a copy of what you need, or download and install a copy of the version you need using this guide.
At the end of this, you should have a full copy of whatever version of RA2 you need installed and ready to be upgraded.

3) Installing the AI Pack
Now, the AI Pack you downloaded at the start must be extracted from using 7zip or WinRAR. This image uses 7zip and Starcore v3 AI but the process is near identical for WinRAR and any other AI pack.

Extract the file to any destination - I highly recommend an empty folder prepped just for this!

Now open the folder. When you get to a folder containing a folder (among others) called AI, drag and drop all these files into the copy of RA2 you prepared earlier.

When you're asked whether to overwrite or not, click overwrite.

And there you have it! The pack should now be installed!
