Maybe try making a copy of that cfg (just so you have a backup) and replacing the contents with someone else's, to see if there is a problem in there (just until someone more knowledgeable on the cfg can check over the actual data).
Here's mine, if you wanted to try it (also contains my multiplayer data XD) - just remember to keep a backup of your one...

It's ok, I found my own... Downloaded fine but with the same problem when started up. I guess it just isn't meant to be  Would have been nice to play this game again and get back into this community, oh well, thanks for all your help and suggestions guys!

I think it's an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 as that's the only thing I can find that looks a bit like it could be a graphics card... It's definitely just an integrated one so probably really crap

Tried all suggestions on the page to no avail... It's so strange it can work so fine in some places, even the test arena in the botlab works! My processor is an AMD Athlon(tm) II P340 Dual-Core Processor 2.20GHz if that's of any help? Really want to play this game again but I might just have to accept it's not going to work.

I have a packard bell easynote TM80 with windows 7 64 bit. As I said I'm not technical so I wouldnt know what specs to post but you could probably google to find out? The only game I play on my laptop is Football manager 2013 and that works fine. I have done everything in the options menu of RA2 but nothing works.
I'll try extracting to an external hard drive and playing from there. Thanks for your help :)

Thank you for your reply badger but unfortunately none of your suggestions worked The only thing that made a difference was running it in compatibility mode for 98 which made it horrendously slow to start up and close down... I find it strange how it works fine in the options menu and in battle. Also, I'm by not technical at all so don't know if there's anything in this but I went on the task manager whilst RA2 was up and the CPU usage was fluctuating between 100% and 80ish%

Maybe it didn't extract properly? Try the DSL version and see if you get the same problem.
Yep, exactly the same there aswell... Surely it can't just be my bad laptop or it would be just as bad in battle, if not worse? Hey JD! Thanks for the update, I think I was there for when people first started with the DSL realism thing but hax mode is new to me, I'll go and check that out now :) EDIT: Also, when I click the options from the main menu it works absolutely fine on that but as soon as I go back to the main menu it goes back to being laggy.

Hey guys, I've not been on for a few years now and I'm not sure if this is correct section of the forum to post in but anyway... I lost my disk and just want to play this game for a couple of hours for nostalgic reasons really, Is there any way I could download it for free or will I have to buy it again? I don't know if you're allowed to ask this but I genuinely have just lost the disk haha, thanks for your time :)
