Discussion / New useful glitch discovered??« on: March 25, 2010, 12:28:17 PM »
Was fooling around on ways to fit in another ztek on a dead weight bot, when I thought I accidentally removed my ztek..but isntead, the baseplate anchor holding it disappeared.
I rebuilt the bot with just 2 hp zteks and 1 lp ztek, and it was 4 kgs short of this one, so the baseplate anchor still counts on the weight, but I can place anything around the Ztek, which means it's not blocking the way. It's not there, but not completely gone either. I could think of some nice usage though. A picture of it: I'm trying to figure out how I did it right now. If I manage to, I'll upload a video on how to do it, and call this glitch the Invisible Anchor Functioning Perfectly. I'll keep you all in touch with any progress. EDIT: VID IS UP http://www.metacafe.com/watch/4389793/invisible_anchor_functioning_perfectly/ 5

I thought this deserves a topic
How and when did you aquire your copy of Robot Arena 2? How did you find out about the game? I remember when I first found out about the game, it was because its trial version was on the KaZaA front page. As a Robot Wars fan, I downloaded it. I first tried out a little building, but got confused on how to make it work, then started playing around with the Rookies team's bots. I remember playing some tabletop matches with Forkie, until the trial ran out, and I figured 'hey, if this is Robot Arena 2, there should be a Robot Arena 1 out there somewhere'. I found it on KaZaA and played around with it, also encouriging some friends to dl it as well to play some online matches. Then, months (maybe years) later, I was bored and decided to strawl around with Explorer, and found the RA2 folder. I opened the tutorials map, started reading and was like 'oh sh**, this game has endless possibilities!', got all excited, and started googling on where to find my copy. I found one at bol.com (the Dutch equivalent of amazon), bought it straight away and played for years without noticing the community. I knew the game had a web site, though, but only used the bot exchange to download the most awesome bots out there back then. I told my friends I built em myself and kicked their sorry asses with them. Years passed and the bot exchange disappeared because Atari took over Infogrames, but as I was looking for Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 tracks, I changed the url from RCT2 to RA2 and I rediscovered it. My mindset being 'those guys probably know it already', I made an account on the wizforum that 'if anyone wasn't aware yet, the bot exchange moved here' I even remember what the thread was called. "n00bs like me", because I thought most of the users knew about it, but was just trying to help those like me that didn't know. I was surprised these forums were so active, goose complimented me on my 'quality find' and XRAH just quoted "Welcome to the Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 track exchange" My 2nd post, tactful like I've always been, was "Click the 'tracks' link. Hey I've found a n00b like me :-)" I remember our beloved ACAMS quoting me and saying "I still crack up every time I see this". That's how I enrolled into the community I wasn't planning to write a long story like this, but I'm bored I guess 10

Been years before I built a bot, so yea, I probably missed out on years of innovation.
Please leave a comment. Any ideas on what to do with the remaining weight? 11
Modifications / Been a couple years, some help wanted« on: February 08, 2010, 01:30:09 PM »
Hey guys, it's been a couple of years since I've been playing RA2, let alone modding
there's this little problem I have, saved bots / teams / anything don't seem to appear in my RA2 folder, was there a trick to it or is Vista a bad guy to RA2 modding? Thanks in advance
