Gave myself a few minutes per attempt to record what stacks are and aren't (yet) possible without having to use hax mode or pause break loading* (*although snapper loading does the same job but better for static components due to the fact that you can connect extenders/wheels etc by placing the motor first, snapper loading, and then stacking the black (just send the damn axle to space by any means legitimately))

Starting with the big black juicy boi: The Supervolt

If there is a stack you would like me to try more on, such as ones that I couldn't do in the time limit I had, or with different rotations/height, feel free to suggest away or try them yourself!

Oh boy out of actual nowhere KOS is using what little brain power he has to construct a discussion on a delicate subject which could make no sense

First post in a while, been curious about this for a long time now but I wanted to discuss this with the stock community since I left to see everyone's thoughts. This will probably only be relevant to people who love competitive building (Or no one because I could be talking complete nonsense as per)(I may (will) be rusty bringing up terms its been like 3-4 years which also could mean I missed out on some rule changes etc)

Ever since I started RA2 stock, I was always looking up to the builders who participated in BBEANS etc, on how they used glitches to increase the efficiency of their bots to beat others, and working towards the best possible bot. I developed the mindset that if any weight could be saved to improve the bot, then it should be done. As time passed and I posted here I found ways to add more weapons/drives etc to my bots using better extender setups and such, but as time goes on those setups reach a wall, and the way to overcome that wall was to free up weight, by having the patience to exostack, or to do pause break stacking with parts which have axles. Don't get me wrong, you can easily make a bot that would win against a ultrastackedVenkosmurfCOOLTEXT.comsplashart type bot without those advanced glitches (My tournament history for instance lul), but creating the theoretical best bot, which would have a high win rate against lots of different types of bots would most likely include some of the weirder, less known glitches like advanced stacking. So for me, finding advanced stacking made me feel like stock could reach a new level, where top, devoted builders would now spend hours of their time getting the most airtight chassis with big boi stacks and exostacks to make room for more offence/defence. Or making a defensive HS for instance, which utilizes a larger chassis by having bigger exostacked components around the sides and caster armor at he bottom to counter popups. This could create a new meta of competitive stock building for better or for worse.

Now for the part relevant to the title I guess.

When advanced stacking was being used more, it became extremely hard to tell if the builder had actually spent the time getting that sweet stack, or if they just BFE'd or Hax Mode'd it on. From what I remember there weren't any rules against advanced stacking, but some veteran members were against it, because as I remember it they couldn't easily tell if the bot was made with "Legal" techniques. I personally didn't know if advanced stacking was a bad thing being figured out, as it adds more possibilities for newer, good designs, but finding out new stacks with advanced stacking which look impossible would make people skeptical whether Hax Mode or BFE was used. So, did the differing views on Advanced stacking stop people from using the glitch or was it seen as taboo.

Do you guys think stock is fine as is, and doesn't need these newer sorts of glitches because they could create a different meta which could be more "stale", and with added risk of illegitimate building?
Or do you think that change would be good and refreshing for stock with its current state, as it could potentially turn the meta onto its head, making room for newer/improved designs?

Its 5:00 am, I don't know if what I typed made any sense because of my own opinions, or is relevant anymore because I see stock is still a thing in 2018 but..
I love you all though

GTM All Stars!

The idea: Each builder will enter 1 LW, MW, HW bot, and try to accumulate the most Tournament points possible. (TP)
Points are gained by their position in the tournament across the weight categories (it's like 3 tournaments in 1!)
The person with the most points at the end will be crowned the STOCK ALL STAR!

Rules:
- Stock Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight;
- The layout will be a 1v1, best to 3 match with a 3 minute timer for all the weight categories;
- The arena will be a skinned BBEANS Tournament Arena 2 with the hazards ON;
- No AAM, Thyrus Glitch, Zero G, BFE, Hax mode, Text Editing/swapping, or any other out-of-game modification. (just stock);
- Matches will be restarted due to Havoks 3 times, on the 3rd, if still havoking, the bot will be eliminated;
- 1 entry per builder in each weight class, there should be a total of 16 entrances;
- AI parts are allowed (including the 140cm extender and snapper);
- Cheatbot2 parts are not allowed;
- You should AI your own Bots, but if unable to, I will happily AI them;

- Multibots are allowed, but they must be less than or equal to half the weight limit for each weight class;
- You may update your entries unlimited times until the deadline (SBV);
- This tournament will be recorded in 1080p with the DX9 encoder for RA2. (looks goood)

Stock – Middleweight Standard

The idea: Each bot will be placed up against a stock heavyweight bot, and must aim to stay alive for the longest time possible, or beat the opposing robot; winners will go onto the next round, based on the time survived. When the next round commences the difficulty level will increase, and 3 bots will be eliminated. When 12 bots get eliminated, they will face each other head to head, and the two winners will fight to determine a winner.

Rules:
- Stock Middleweight;
- The arena will be the BBEANS Tournament Arena 2 with hazards on;
 - No AAM, Thyrus Glitch, Zero G, BFE, Hax Mode, Text Editing, or any other out-of-game modification;
- Matches will be restarted due to havoks infinitely with no penalty;*
- [*edit] against the heavyweights, matches will be restarted up to 5 times, head to head however will only be 3 times!
- 1 entry per builder, there should be a total of 16 entrances;
- AI parts allowed (including the 140cm extender);
- You may AI your own bots, but if unable I will AI them;
- Multibots are allowed, but they must total up to 399kg or less;
- You may update your entry unlimited times until the deadline;
- This will be recorded in 1080p with some effects and replays.
- I will be entering using this -

Good luck!

« on: January 22, 2014, 11:38:09 AM »
Hi there i was just wondering if there was a way to see the entire grid when designing the chassis in 1920x1080 - This is what it currently looks like:

General Support / Instant Startup Spinners
« on: December 23, 2013, 09:26:06 AM »
Hi guys, i have just finished AI'ing 129 robots in the same format as the bbeans ai packs bindings. The reason i did this was because i wanted spinners that start up instantly when the match starts.
However this has no effect, so does anyone know how to do this, i don't want to have to start again as it took hours. Any answers would be much appreciated on how to do this. :D

Deathmill 17:

One of my favorite 36 maced spinners - DSA, 3 maces on each extender, 4 hpz's, protected wheels. Leave any feedback on the robot :D

Deathmill 16:

Another 36 maced spinner, this one is based off the legendary 36 maced spinner, absolute chaos, but has been completely remade : (Smaller chassis, better arranged mace placement, slightly more protected wheels) - DSA, 3 maces on each extender, 4 hpz's. Leave any feedback on the robot :D

Possibly my favorite vertical spinner - dsa, 16 irons, 4 hpz (2x2 chained), inside wheels, decent wedge, stable. Leave any feedback on the robot :D
