Tournament Archives / [STOCK MW] Light vs Dark 3 - SIGNUPS CLOSED
« on: May 16, 2017, 09:10:58 AM »

BORING RULES
-Stock MW, unrealistic building style.
-No cheatbot parts, custom parts, etc.  This includes recoloured ones.  The exception is flamethrowers, which are allowed.
-Multibots are not allowed due to rumble matches.
-SnS are not allowed.
-Crawlers are not allowed.
-BOTS MUST SHOW CONTROLLED MOVEMENT.
-No BFE, AAM, EXP, or whatever other crazy acronym you guys use.
-Rule of 7 break is allowed, other SergePatcher features are not.
-Arena will be the Parking Lot Arena, hazards on.
-Matches will be 3 minutes each.
-If you don't AI your robot yourself, it gets Omni.py.
-Havok rule: Matches with major havoks will be rerecorded and not shown.
-I reserve the right to disqualify any bot.  Life is simply unfair.
-You may send updates until the signups period ends.

THE GIMMICK
-First, I'll hold a single elimination rumble tournament.  It'll be rumble format to minimize the number of matches.
-Whoever comes first and second will become the team captains.
-Each team captain gives their team a name (or would it be funnier if they named each other's teams?)
-Captain 1 selects a robot to be on their team.
-Captain 2 selects a robot that hasn't been selected yet to be on their team.
-etc.
-Once all robots have been assigned to a team, the actual tournament begins.
-Each team captain secretly tells me one robot on their team to send to battle.  I run the fight, and the losing robot is eliminated.
-Repeat until one team is out of robots.  The other team wins.
-I will enter only if the number of robots would be odd otherwise, however, I cannot become a team captain.  Should I come first or second in the rumble phase of the tournament, I will skip over myself when choosing the captains.
-My robbot is Rotary Macerator:

You have 24 hours, starting now, to privately vote either "Ally" or "Betray".  Remember, votes MUST be sent privately - you can say whatever you want publicly, but it will not count as a vote!  Speaking of which, I made a Discord thingy for this tournament: https://discord.gg/UgqsbDb, so you can use that if you'd like to.

Hello.  You are going to play a game.

BORING RULES
-Retooled MW, standard building style.
-No cheatbot parts, custom parts, etc.  This includes recoloured ones.
-Multibots are allowed, if you want to do a MW multibot for some reason.
-Arena will be the Keznorg IGC.

THE GIMMICK(this one's a doozy).
-Every player will start with 2 points.
-Before each round, all players with at least one point will be randomly paired off to fight.  One bye will be given if needed.
-Once the matchups list is posted, players have 24 hours to PM me their vote.
-If no vote is sent, it will default to "ally".
-Votes may only be sent via PM or via Direct Message on Discord.
-This means that it is allowed, and encouraged, to say that you're going to vote one way, then actually vote the other way.
-The allowed votes are "ally" or "betray".
-If both players who are going to fight vote "ally", they both gain 1 point.
-If both players vote "betray", I will run the fight between their robots.  The loser loses 1 point.
-If one player votes "ally" and the other votes "betray", the player who voted "ally" loses 1 point.
-In the case of a bye, the player will not gain or lose any points.
-Teaming up/working together is allowed and encouraged.
-Rounds will continue until all players but one have zero points.  The player who still has at least one point is the winner.
-At any time, I can announce that the game ends in five rounds.
-Once this has been announced, I cannot revoke it.
-The player with the most points after the final round is the winner.
-In the event of a tie, there will be one extra round involving only those involved in the tie.
-For example, if Dio, Eric, and Q all have ten points after the final round:
Every player will fight every other remaining player.
Dio will send a vote for his fight with Eric and a vote for his fight with Q.  These votes do not need to be the same.
Eric will send a vote for Dio and a vote for Q.
Q will send a vote for Dio and a vote for Eric.
-After this final round has been run, the player with the most points is the winner.  If there is still a tie, all players involved in the tie win.

(this might be a mistake since i'm running gtmcs also but #yolo)

BORING RULES:
-Ironforge, standard building style, MW
-No cheatbot parts, custom parts, etc.
-Multibots are allowed (because MW multibots are totally a thing)
-SnS are not allowed
-Crawlers are not allowed
-BOTS MUST SHOW CONTROLLED MOVEMENT
-No BFE, AAM, EXP, or whatever other crazy acronym you guys use
-Rule of 7 break is allowed, other SergePatcher features are not
-Arena will be the Combat Arena with hazards off, 3 minute matches
-Maximum of 16 entrants, one robot per person
-If you don't AI your robot yourself, it gets Omni.py
-Havok rule: Matches with havoks will be rerecorded and not shown
-I reserve the right to disqualify any bot if it tickles my fancy

THE GIMMICK:
I have prepared 3 HW boss robots for you to fight against.  Your goal is to beat the boss as quickly as possible, or at least survive as long as possible.  Scoring works as follows:
-Beating the boss quickly is better than beating the boss slowly.
-Beating the boss slowly is better than losing to the boss slowly.
-Losing to the boss slowly is better than losing to the boss quickly.
The first round will reduce the number of robots remaining to 8.  From there, each boss fight will reduce the number of robots remaining by half.  The final two bots will have a fight to determine the winner.

Right, how about we meet the bosses?

I silhouetted them to make it a bit mysterious, but they're probably not too hard to identify.

Anyway, I won't be entering, since I of course have the ability to test my robot against the bosses, and that's a bit cheaty.

Did I miss anything, or is anything unclear?

So, last year I ran a little tournament called Death-Defying Decemberween Demolition Derby.  It was a Stock LW tournament with no gimmicks.  I don't really want to do the same thing twice in a row, so I was thinking maybe this time around could be Retooled LW (since the official tournament takes care of IF LW).  Would anyone join that?

RULES:
Retooled LW
Standard building, cheatbot2 mode off
Combat Arena - no hazards
3 minute matches
Best of 1, double elimination
Unlimited entrants
I can do AI lines, or you can send your own
Also, I will be releasing the tournament AI after the tournament, so there are more Retooled bots available

BUILDING STUFF:
No BFE or any of that kinda mess
Rule of 7 break is allowed, other SergePatcher features are not
No custom components (includes reskinned components)
Bots must show controlled movement.
SnSs are banned
Bots must have at least 2 powered wheels
I can reject any bot that I feel does not adhere to these rules

My hastily thrown together entry is Power Station Steve:

(will skin later)

Signups end at the start of December 1th.

So, the time has finally come for the SBV thread! All the splashes are up, see what you think of the bots. The brackets are up, too. So, if you've entered the tournament, you can try and weigh up your chances and anyone can try their hand at predictions.

Click here for BBEANS-style rankings of the tournament, so far.

BORING RULES:
-Ironforge, standard building style, HW
-No cheatbot parts, custom parts, etc.
-Multibots are allowed, but they must both follow all the building rules (that is, each half is a Mr. Bones)
-SnS are not allowed
-Crawlers are not allowed
-BOTS MUST SHOW CONTROLLED MOVEMENT
-No BFE, AAM, EXP, or whatever other crazy acronym you guys use
-Rule of 7 break is allowed, other SergePatcher features are not
-Arena will be the Ring Arena, 3 minute matches
-If a bot gets thrown off of the arena, it loses, regardless of whether RA2 decides to end the match or not
-Double elimination bracket, best of 1 matches (may increase to best of 3 if very few people enter)
-Unlimited entrants, one bot per person
-Havok rule: The standard "1 havok = reset, 2 havok = disqualified" kinda thing
-I reserve the right to disqualify any bot

THE GIMMICK:
-All bots must be built from the chassis of the original Mr. Bones' Wild Ride, which you can download here.
-Nothing on this chassis may be changed, with the following exceptions:
-You may re-angle his arms, as long as each arm consists of one 80-cm light extender and one 45-degree angle for a shoulder
-You may change the skin (but why would you want to?  It's already perfect)
-You may add as many components as you like (up to the weight limit), including baseplate components.

-I will enter with Bonechill:

Custom Components Showcase / Thrackerzod is bad at Retooled

So I did the most logical thing to do when playing a new mod:

(forgot to put on splash but it's just under 800 kgs)

There's one tiny problem with it though:

Come to think of it, I don't really need the servo, since the hovercraft should be able to rotate in place anyway.
