General Support / How to edit Ra2.cfg?
« on: February 20, 2016, 12:53:58 PM »
Hey guys,

Jut wondering how you edit the cfg file for Ra2 (Which program work etc.)

Need to change it to fit my monitor resolution.

2

DEADLINE 00:00am GMT 17/03/16

The basic premise is, this an axe robot exclusive tournament. I feel as if Axe robots are somewhat neglected, as Flippers and Discs have basically taken over, and I want them to have some love too.

I will be AI’ing the robots, unless you want to give me specific bindings (in this case just send them over with your entry.)

Nobody can be entered until a bot is received and accepted by me.

I won't be entering the tournament.

The tournament will be run in DSL 2.2, and is strictly IRL. By this I mean that if I don't think the robot could be made IRL, I will reject it without question, and ask for you to change the part which I feel isn't IRL, or to send an entirely new entry. However, if you can provide me with some photographic evidence that it is possible, I will reconsider.

I will be accepting 16 entrants, which if not filled by the deadline, will be available for already entered contestants to enter another robot. I'm not setting the deadline yet until this is in sign-ups as it may take a while to gather interest and/or solidify the rules.

The weightclass of robots in the tournament are to be Middleweight. (Up to 398.9kg/399.0 – The game sometimes doesn't feel like accepting bots on 399.0 to be MW for some reason)

I will accept bots that fall into a weight category lighter than specified, but not the other way around. (For obvious reasons.)

I am forbidding;

All custom components
Custom Smartzones
All AI parts
All cheatbot2 parts except cosmetic/decorative parts (1 judge burst motor is allowed also)
The Frenzy Hammer

BFE is eligible for making your robot more IRL looking and burst motor arc editing ONLY.

AAM, Thyrus Glitch, ZeroG, Text Editing or any other out-of-game modification (Apart from skins obviously) are also forbidden.

In-game glitches, such as Stacking, eFFe Glitching, Axle Loading, Snapper Loading etc is also forbidden.

Only axe robots are allowed in this tournament. This includes side axes, such as those seen on Splinter for example.

Concussion weaponry, such as Sledgehammers are also prohibited, as in my opinion, a hammer is not an axe. Only piercing style Axes are allowed. Weapon spam is forbidden, so try not to make an axe with 17 thousand spikes on the end.  :thumbup

The Dominator spike is allowed.

Hybrids Ruling

-Hybrids are allowed. However, If a robot does have more than one weapon the axe MUST be the primary/main weapon on the robot.
-This includes robots like 834ST, where the axe and flipper are one system. (But obviously 834ST's primary weapon was its flipper so do refrain from making a complete 834ST clone.)
-Mortis style robots are also allowed, as long as the flipper isn't the main focus of the robot.
-Rammers, Spinning Disks or Flywheels are not allowed, as they defeat the objective of the tournament.
-Flamethrowers are allowed. (If flamethrower Hybrids are actually a thing people want to do.) Again, the axe must be the main weapon however.

Clusterbots are allowed, and they have to add up to the weight of a MW. BOTH bots have to be destroyed/immobilised for the whole robot to be eliminated. Also, both robots must require axes. You can't have one with an axe and the other with a flipper and call it a hybrid.

Walkers, shufflers etc are forbidden.

The format is standard deathmatch elimination, there will by 3rd and 4th playoffs however.

I will use the BBEANS 2 to be used and hazards will be on. I have given the arena a reskin;

Robots are allowed one Havok Restart a battle, a second Havok will result in automatic disqualification. Note, I am only restarting a match if the Havok affects the general progression of the battle.

Time will be the standard 3 mins. If time runs out, I will be the judge and will use Robot Wars judging criteria (S, C, D, and A.)

Bots can be upgraded as long as it's before the end of the sign-ups deadline and I approve the change.

There will be an awards section after the tournament, this will also include any grudge matches and fantasy matches.

I am forbidding any super-fast robots that I feel are unrealistic.

Lastly, There will be a rule that a robot will have to be showing controlled movement, if the robot is moving but is upside down for example, it will be given ten seconds to self-right or it is considered immobile. This excludes being stuck on a wall, or if a bot is being pushed around upside down by it's opponent(s).

Can someone give me the files for the newest BBEANS arena (Or a direct download link)?

For some reason it's decided not to work on my game so I've deleted it and want to reacquire it.

Thanks.

So I'm making a replica and the judge burst says how the Judge's botfile was edited to make its burst motor have an 180 degree arc. I wanna know how to do this as it will improve my bot a ton.

Anyone help?

Hooray, it's finally here, the test of wits, skill, but mostly luck as your teams of LWs battle it out.

The Rules are as follows:

-3 minute matches, draws will be decided by Judges - (General RW criteria)

So the General idea is that you have two bots as a team, both which will fight individually and once I have posted the bracket, You have to PM me which bot you want to go first, dependent on the team you are drawn against. So technically, you have to use one bot at a time, but in your second bout you don't get the choice, the other bot will fight. (Then then choosing process will continue.) This will occur on a normal deathmatch-style bracket, until there is only one winner.

It's sounds weird at first but I think this could be interesting and could come down to a good choice by a competitor. (Obviously you could try to pick a bot that the opponent wouldn't be expecting so you get an advantage or something like that)

At the end in the final the last two teams should just have a brawl, 2 Vs 2, and no time limit.

The Rules are as follows:

-DSL 2.1
-LW Competition
-IRL building rules. (Any Standard bots will be declined.) - Obviously this means that upgrades to your bots are allowed as long as I get them by the deadline. (Deadline will be three weeks after sign-ups launch, and may have an extension depending on the interest level.)
-16 Entrants (With Two bots Per Entrant, More info Later)
-I shall not be entering.

-3 minute matches, draws will be decided by Judges - (General RW criteria) *Note: Any volunteers to help are welcome.
-No Clusterbots
-No Walkers/Shufflers/Any-other-non-wheel-system-that-some-of-you-guys-can-devise

So the General idea is that you enter two bots as a team, both which will fight individually and once I have posted the bracket, You have to PM me which bot you want to go first, dependent on the team you are drawn against. So technically, you have to use one bot at a time, but in your second bout you don't get the choice, the other bot will fight. (Then then choosing process will continue.) This will occur on a normal deathmatch-style bracket, until there is only one winner. As I am entering myself, I shall randomly generate my bots instead of choosing so I don't get an unfair advantage - not that I really truly want to win my own tournament anyway but hey, I'm competing for the fun.

- None of Bob's extras
- No Judge's gavel, Beta's battery and hammer, or Vertigo's motor.
- Tit sheets are allowed, as long as they aren't attached to the baseplate.
- No Beta armour

Other Stuff:

-I can AI your bots if you don't know how to, (Although I do recommend learning how) and will be accepting custom bindings as long as they aren't OP. (Ridiculous speed etc.)
-Nobody can be entered until their bots are received and accepted.
-No BFE, AAM, Thyrus Glitch, ZeroG, Text Editing or any other out-of-game modification. (This doesn't include skinning)

Site News and Feedback / Urm...Hi.
« on: January 20, 2014, 01:58:47 PM »
Hey.

This may sound very stupid, but can we please be given a way to change our display names?

See I hate my name as I created this account and didn't really think of a decent name. I'm sure there are others that are in the same position as me, and it would probably be greatly appreciated (especially by me).  It's just really annoying having to log into this account and seeing my stupid name and regretting ever typing those letters. I don't want to make a whole new account just to change my name and I'm sure others don't want to either.

Thanks

- Elementos

PS: Pweaaaase?

DSL TC Showcases / Elementos' DsL Showcase! (Finally)
« on: November 12, 2013, 05:13:17 PM »
Hey er'body.

I'm gonna post some of my most recent bots from DSL, feel free to comment and suggest any improvements and the like.

First up, as I mentioned it earlier, (and it looks pretty :3) XD :

J MC - GREGORY

Oh did I forget to mention...

This is one of of the two bots I may be entering into my tourney if it gets to sign-ups.

Next, is the other one..

HURRMENURRRR

A Firestorm inspired backwards flipper, (hence the flames) Is most probably what I will be entering...Still not sure but it's not even near sign-ups yet so meh.

*For some reason, my editing program doesn't like red writing very much, so it smudges here, (Being partially Red-Green colourblind, I don't really either XD)

Hope you guys enjoy/can give some constructive (if that's the correct word to use) criticism.  :thumbup

Tournament Archives / Blades of Glory: Signups (CLOSED)
« on: July 29, 2013, 07:22:57 PM »

SIGNUPS CLOSED

Hey guys, seeming as I've finally got some free time to come back onto the forums and stuff, just thought of an interesting idea for a tournament, and I hope that you will find it interesting too.

- This tournament will be called "Blades of Glory" and unsurprisingly;

will be held in the DSL Blade Arena with hazards on. I have reskinned this to add a bit of pinache.

- 3 minute time limit

- It will be DSL 2.1 STANDARD REALISTIC (and only components from dsl 2.1 are allowed, not other component packs or AI parts)

-Weightclass MW

-Can be any type of weapon
(As long as it doesn't break standard realistic rules)

-No Clusterbots allowed (Sorry! Just can't have clusters in 4 way melees XD)

- No Cheatbot2, AI parts, Narmour, BFE, AAM, Thyrus Glitch, ZeroG, Text Editing or any other out-of-game modification are allowed, but if you want a specific line of code in the bindings, as long as it isn't ridiculous, I will allow it. NO GLITCHED PARTS ALLOWED.

-16 entrants and no wildcard

-If your bot havoks, there will be a restart. (unless the havok is minor and doesn't really affect the battle too much) If your bot havoks 2 times during the tournament, however, it will be disqualified, and randomly replaced (if necessary) with another bot, or the other competitor (if in single deathmatch at the time) will automatically qualify. If this does happen to your bots, I am more than happy to post video evidence of the havoking, if you want me to. If I do have to pick a random robot, I will use a program called "Name Generator" online to determine the robot. (I will also include videos of this result if this happens.)

-Once your bot is sent, you will not be allowed to modify it in any way, so be sure to be completely finished before sending them. Also note that your bot cannot be entered until I have received and accepted it. I will signify if there is a problem with your bot and will give you the chance to try and edit the bot as long as I receive it fairly quickly. I will be accepting sign-ups for about 3 weeks minimum after this thread goes into sign-ups, if not all entries are filled by then, I will extend it by another two weeks and start to allow multi-entries.

-I WILL be competing, though I probably don't stand a chance, with "The Iceman"

-There probably will not be a big prize, unfortunately, but the winner of this will be eligible for two entries into my next tournament (so they have a better chance of winning it). As I won't allow multi-entries from anyone in my next one except the winner of this here tournament.

-I will be recording battles using camstudio (or simular programs dependant on if Camstudio wants to work with me or not :D)

-My AIing is limited, so I would prefer that you AI your bots yourself, but if you REALLY cannot AI then I can for you.

-Here's the interesting part:

-Wins and losses are scored with points. these points are determined by the way a bot wins:

-Loss: 1 point

-Draw (which I don't expect happening): 2 points

-Win by Judges: 3 points - (I will be Judging Based on Style, Control, Damage, Aggression (Cliché) and use of the blade)
*NOTE - My buddy senstro has volunteered to judge as well, so that it is fair.

-Win by immobilisation: 4 points

-Win by OOTA: 4 points

-Win by destroying of control board: 5 points

-Wins involving the blade in the center adds 2 points to your win score. For example, if a bot pushes another into the blade and destroys it, it will be awarded 7 points (5 for destruction + 2 for blades = 7)

-There will be 4 groups of 4 (each robot shall face one another in a group), and the two highest scoring bots from each will progress. (In the event of a tie there will be a playoff) The lowest scoring bots (and third highest) are eliminated. The 8 winners (from the group stages) will compete in two 4 way melees,  the top two of both go through. Those 4 shall compete in a 4 way melee, the two losers compete against each other in a 2 way melee, (likewise the winners). The loser of the loser's melee is placed 4th. The winner of the losers' melee goes through to face the loser of the winners' melee. Whoever wins is placed 2nd, whoever loses is 3rd. The winner of the winner's melee is placed 1st and is the champion.

I know it sounds complicated, but to help you grasp the concept, it is similar to Alphasims "All or nothing bot wars", but with group and knockout, rather than just knockout. I think it will be quite unpredictable with the scoring system, and I just wanted to know if anyone thought this is a good idea and may want to sign up if it gets to that stage.

At the qualifier there are 8 bots. the 2 bots that have the longest times are eliminated. Then on to the 1/4 finals with 6. 2 more are knocked out. Then to semis with 4 and then the final with 2. obviously, i will use a different AI bot for the different rounds.

Rules/conditions:

1. All Bots Must be HW (no AW BW LW MW SHW or UHWs)
2. Game Type is DSL
3. Realistic Rule is ON
4. Axes, vertical disks, horizontal disks, hammers, Flippers and Static (ramming plates, or non-moving spikes) Are Allowed. No Face disks, side axes, side hammers or burst pistons allowed.

General Support / HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, well i was importing the robot arena reincarnated team from dsl 2.0 into my team, and all of the robots (Gammaraze, triclops, aquarius, scoot-or-die and topknot) work but the other one (pon2n) when i click 'ok' on the import menu it freezes my cursor, mouse and whole computer and i can't get off the application unless i press the power button on the computer which screws up my data and stuff.

I really need it to work, i have a feeling that it one of the components i don't have which is on it, but if this is happening to anyone else then i need someone to save me!!!

Can anyone help?
