Existing Games / Favourite Gaming Weapons?
« on: November 17, 2012, 07:33:10 AM »
Been a long time since I've started a thread, but here's an idea I've had. What would you consider to be your favourite weapons/items in games, and why? I'll start us off with a few good examples-

The Cereberal Bore, Turok 2: Seeds of Evil

The BFG 9000, Doom

The Screw Attack, Metroid

Challenge Board / GoldenFox93 vs Naryar (DQ: All)
« on: October 06, 2012, 05:37:36 PM »
So yes- in light of a recent event, Naryar and I are going to have a fight-

RULES
(Some factors may be liable to change at times)
- IRL DSL
- Heavyweight
- Except for Lifter and Judge Motors (In order to correspond with IRL in case we do decide to build flippers or scrimechs and stuff), Cheatbot2 is forbidden.
- No Metal Hinge wedges.
- Mode will be either Head to Head (With 3 different robots in three seperate battles) or 2 vs 2 Tag Team- either way, the battles will be fought Best of Three.
- Arena will be the Containment Cube.

At some point we'll need a host, but for the time being, discuss away.

General Support / Containment Cube problem
« on: July 05, 2012, 12:26:04 PM »
Recently, I downloaded the Containment Cube Arena from Click's website for my DSL2.1. I think I've installed it correctly, but for some reason, it's not working- to elaborate, the screen goes black (with the cursor still there), and after a few seconds, I can hear crowd noises, and when I press the control keys for the robot I'm playing as, I can hear them. Nothing happens after that, and all I can do is CTRL ALT + DEL to get out of the game.

I don't know what's gone wrong, so some help here would be greatly appreciated.

Discussion / A bit of an idea (Involving IRL robots and things)
« on: June 20, 2012, 08:51:37 PM »
Whilst testing some IRL prototypes recently, I had a bit of a thought. I know it's going to sound ridiculous coming from me, but hear me out- what if there was a DSL mod similar to NAR AI, except dedicated to purely IRL designs?

With the more overpowered and unrealistic standard DSL designs out of the way for once, and with people potentially submitting all sorts of different designs for IRL robots (and maybe other things as well) provided it gets off the ground, I could imagine it being a good mod for building and playing with more realistic designs, and a great means of taking both old and new members back to where it all began in RA2.

Not so sure about what to do with the replicas though- they could either be removed, or maybe kept in but grouped together in secondary teams, modified to be more legal to the game, and with the scrapped components removed to improve running performance.

I know it sounds crazy, but do let me know what you think.

Discussion / Confusing problem
« on: October 25, 2011, 11:38:03 PM »
Hey- I've recently gotten back into replica building with this new computer, but I'm having a little trouble. You see, even though I do definitely have custom textures saved, they don't show up in my "Custom Textures" file-

Like they should be. It's also something that's happened with my save files (IE. Definitely saved and accessable from the game itself, but not in the files) on RCT2, so I know that it's a problem that affects multiple things. Help!

Chatterbox / GF93 is Leaving
« on: August 17, 2011, 03:19:57 PM »
Yes, you read that title correctly- I am leaving the forums on Saturday...for my holiday to Spain. Andalucia, to be precise. As such, I doubt I'll be on the forums at all for two weeks, so I figured I'd let you all know in advance (and prank you all with the title  :coolface) about what's happening.

Challenge Board / GoldenFox93 vs ashman12 (DQ: All)
« on: July 09, 2011, 09:20:02 PM »
As the title suggests, it's a battle between the great, powerful, handsome and all-round terrific bloke GF, and the also pretty cool Ashman, in a revisited concept from their early days. You see, in Replica Wars 1, they had an agreement to a battle between their replicas- Cassius II for GF, and Supernova for Ashman. However, this never did transpire...that is, until now.
And upon the revisitation, the hatchet was dug up, the sound of the drums of war rang out across the world, and an all-out war for rep supremacy began between these legendary figures of GTM.

That, and the replicas have a scuffle of their own, too   :gawe:

Chatterbox / LNER A4 Locomotive Thread
« on: June 14, 2011, 05:06:05 PM »
In light of hearing about the A4 Locomotive Bittern's cosmetic change to A4 Dominion of New Zealand, I suddenly had a thought about making a thread based on the A4 Locomotives-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class_A4
- featuring aspects such as discussion of the surviving six (Mallard, Sir Nigel Gresley, Bittern, Union of South Africa, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Dominion of Canada), progresses made on restoration, or just general discussion on these unique locomotives.

Enjoy!

Chatterbox / Team themes and Robot Names
« on: May 26, 2011, 02:40:36 PM »
Recently, when creating some new avatars and teams for my Starcore 3, I had a thought- what custom-made teams have others been making? As a result, I decided to create this. Here, you can show what custom-made teams you have created, their motto, and the names of the robots within the teams. This might already exist, but here's one to get you started-

Enjoy, and see if you can spot the reference with one of the robot names in this particular team   ;)

Discussion / GF93's arena plan
« on: May 17, 2011, 02:48:08 PM »
Just as a thought. Not too long ago, I designed an arena for RA2, which I thought would be good to implement into the game itself, perhaps even use it for a tournament in the future. As a result, I put pen to paper, and came up with a design below-

[PICS COMING ASAP, WILL NOTIFY ONCE FINISHED AND UPLOADED]

Here is a list of planned hazards-

* The Pit- functions much like the original RW Hazard, opened by a switch on the far side of the arena. Instantly eliminates any robot that falls, is pushed, or drives into, and is just above the depth of the arena itself to the floor.

* Killsaws- Rust in Pieces! These powerful cutting blades should function much like their IRL Counterparts, but I aim to give them the strength of standard attachable sawblades mounted on 180 Perms. If possible, could they lift robots up as opposed to retracting into the floor when robots drive onto them?

* Flame Grilles- About the size of the standard Spike/Sawblade pads in the Combat Arena, these hazards consist of three Flame Jets mounted in rows for maximum burnination should robots drive onto them.

* Floor Spikes- these will be rigged in one end of the arena floor, in a configuration of five. I hope to give them the strength to bounce robots into the air should they hit them.

* Arena Walls- Low enough to be flipped over, but high enough to keep robots in- slightly higher than the RA2 Tournament Arena, but slightly lower than the BBEANS arena.

However, as I'm better at designing things than actually making them, I was wondering if it'd be possible to get some help in physically creating it, whilst I make the textures. Is this alright, and if this does go ahead, could I recieve the necessary assistance in doing so? Thanks.

Discussion / Daft Question
« on: May 02, 2011, 01:44:29 PM »
I was wondering not so long ago...have there actually been any robots that have used the 250cm DSL disc (IE. "Strike fear into your opponents") to any great effect?

Existing Games / GTM Kart
« on: April 29, 2011, 05:35:45 PM »
Lately, I had this random little thought- if we've already got a thread dedicated to a GTM Super Smash Brothers, why can't we do it with say, a Kart Racing game? Thus, I came up with this thread, in which we discuss things that could be in it, like say, items, tracks, characters, and battle arenas. Here are some ideas to get us started.

ITEM IDEAS-
These should be generally RA2 Related, if Possible- items can be picked up in the form of the DSL "Weapons" window icons from the Bot Lab.

Razor Tips (Can be thrown onto the road behind you in patches of three- if you run over them, you spin out)
Supervolt Battery (Provides a temporary burst of speed)
Chewblade (Launched either in front of or behind you, and can reflect- if an opponent hits it, they flip)
Clown Head Bomb (Can be rolled straight forward or behind, exploding upon impact with a wall or another car- hard to aim, but very powerful, capable of flinging opponents into the air)
Rep Points (These appear in all tracks- run them over them to collect them. As you do so, your speed will gradually increase.
You'll lose some of them if you get attacked, spin out, or go off-course, but if you get the maximum of 10, you can access more powerful versions of items)
Unique Item (An item that can only be used by a certain character- can be both offensive or defensive, but can only be collected after obtaining 10 rep points)

CHARACTER IDEAS-
Each character has unique stats, a unique item, and their own special car, as well as a standard kart.
EXAMPLE:
GF93 (Middleweight)

Car:
Blue Lightning
(Based on this-
, but in a Cobalt Blue colour)
A sleek and powerful sports car that GF93 considers to be his pride and joy on the GTM Circuit. It boasts high speed, acceleration and on-road grip, but lacks speed off-road, and has below-average handling.

Unique Item:
ARMOUR FUSION
GF93 fuses with his ST Battle Suit to give his car the ability to automatically blast down the middle of the track at breakneck speed, knocking aside any cars that he collides with.
He also gains the ability to fire explosive laser shots in the general direction of cars to his side by pressing the Item button as he does so.
Once it finishes after a short period of time, he calls the suit away from him and continues racing as normal.

Chatterbox / Asperger's Syndrome

I was wondering not so long ago...is there anybody else here who has Asperger's Syndrome?-

If there are others, discuss it and related topics to do with it here.

And just in case you're wondering why I started this thread, I should mention that I've got it myself, and I was wondering if there was anyone else on here who had it.

Existing Games / Scary Game Overs
« on: October 29, 2010, 10:10:15 AM »
Considering Halloween is this weekend, I thought I'd create a gaming thread related to fear. In particular, Game Overs that you may have been terrified of when encountering them.

For starters, we have this little number here from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes-

This one put me off playing for a good while after I first saw it. Samus screams, the screen goes all monochrome with jitter cam, what is assumed to be her heartbeat getting faster and faster, until...
BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.
GAME OVER.

Post your own examples here. And for the best results, close your curtains, turn out the light and close the doors as you watch 'em.

Dear God...it's happened. It was bad enough that I heard he'd appeared on iCarly, but this just takes the cake. Comments?
