The shape of this bot gives me wacky classic rw vibes and I love it lol. Only thing I can't get behind is the drums on the back. Maybe if there was a domed shape or something to cap the ends of the drums it would look a little better but atm it just looks off. Otherwise really solid bot per usual, I'm interested to see how the weapon supports deflect spinners in a match.

Active Tournaments / The Island [SIGNUPS]
« on: November 23, 2023, 07:48:25 PM »

General Rules
-DSL 2.6 IRL HW
-16 Entrants (will increase/decrease based on how signups go)
-Pixel Chassis is banned (some arenas have electric hazards which insta KO them + pixel chassis in rumbles sucks. You can still build extenderbots just do it with a destructible chassis)
-First bot to get 20 points and win outright in the next round is the champion

Tournament Format

-At the beginning of a round, all arenas will be available to select on the map
-Builders select an arena to land in and fight any other bots that may be there, resulting in a 1v1, 1v1v1, or 1v1v1v1.
~If nobody else is there then the bot gets a bye
~If >4 bots are there then the bots will be divided equally between multiple fights in the same arena which will result in multiple winners for that arena
-Each episode, all arenas will be played out with only one winner per arena (unless >4 bots landed in one spot as stated previously)
-Losing bots receive a certain number of points depending on how many bots they eliminated.
-Winning bots receive points for how many bots they eliminated and get to choose if they want to travel to another arena or stay in the same arena they're in currently
-At the end of each episode, a circle closes in on a portion of the map. Bots must be within the circle to continute to the next episode.
-Once all bots have been eliminated and only one remains, points for how long each bot lasted will be awarded and the map will be reset
-The game continues until a bot has 20 or more points at the start of a round and wins the entire round.

Building Rules
-I retain the right to reject any bot for any reason
-Robots that use servos or motorized hammers must be AI'd beforehand.
-One bot per person
-Multibots and walkers/shufflers are banned
-Bots with multiple configs must only use one for the whole tournament.

Fight Rules
-1 havok reset allowed per match
-3 min fight for 1v1, 4 min fight for 1v1v1, 5 min fight for 1v1v1v1
-Judges Decision will be based on Damage Aggression and Control
-If a robot has all of its wheels removed then it will be considered knocked out
-A manual countdown will be initiated if a bot cannot show controlled movement for more than 20 seconds

Other
-The Parking Lot Arena has been edited to allow for OOTAs
-The TOREO Arena has lowered walls
-The AU Onslaught Arena has been fixed so bots recognize the pit as a hazard
-The ELBITE Arenas has been edited so the zap hazard has a stonger push force to prevent bots from being pinned against it and KO'ed

Discussion / Re: Converting RA2 bots to CAD with 3D Ripper DX
« on: October 13, 2023, 09:32:06 PM »
Update for Arenas:

Start an exhibition match in the arena you want the model of with two pixel chassis as the bots in the match. Once the countdown begins hit esc then F10 then your rip button.

Follow the same method as above to get the textured arena in blender, scale it to X=-0.8, Y=0.8, Z=1.36

If there are textures in your arena using .tga files then they won't show up correctly. Here's how to fix them:

1) Find your desired tga texture in the material tab [
tutorial1.PNG
] on the right (activate the preview to see the textures easier)
2) Scroll down to Settings in the material tab and turn Blend Mode to Alpha Blend and Shadow Mode to Opaque
3) Click on the Editor Type button [
tutorial2.PNG
] in the top right and select Shader Editor
4) On the orange box with your image click the alpha dot and drag it to the alpha dot on the Principled BDSF box (it should look like this if you've done it correctly)

5) Click the Editor Type button in the top right again (it will look like this now [
tutorial4.PNG
] ) and select 3D Viewport to retun to your 3D scene with a transparent texture

Bot for wen's RA2 is War tournament. Atm uses whipper to spin when the opponent gets close but I'm trying to make a .py that allows the bot to drive in both forward and reverse while also using whip functionality.

Not exactly how I wanted it to turn out so I might revisit this later but still pretty happy with the result.

Good stuff, Idk how I feel about hammers on a vert and loveless would look better if the chassis was a little less boxy imo but otherwise everything looks pretty solid.

Also you love the dents tool lul

idk how this works, but, may I join please

https://gametechmods.com/forums/tutorials-and-tips/beginners-guide-to-entering-a-tournament/

Follow this tutorial to enter tournaments. You can skip the part where the bot is uploaded to the bot exchange. Just DM Norimium your bot by clicking their pfp, send pm, choose file & type a message, then send.

Rock in stone

2nd attempt at making a bot with a character driving it. Definitely getting closer to something that doesn't suck but unfortunately I couldn't fit a srimech in with the amount of panels needed to make the chassis shape. TWMR2 for all four wheels and piglet on the weapon. I might end up redoing this in the future since theres definitely room for improvement but I'm happy with how it looks and that's all I really cared about for this build.

Also you will get a gold star if you can guess where I got the driver from

Awesome pack dude, I can't believe this was 19 years in the making lmao. What a fitting way to celebrate RA2's 20th anniversary.

If you tried to run this on the built in multiplayer function on RA2 it doesn't work anymore. If you want to host something though join the RA2 Central discord. There's plenty of people who run online matches with a free program called parsec
