Tournament Archives / Welcome To The Memezome

i want to start hosting tournaments, but to get started i'm going to run a display.

The rules are fairly lax on this one: 8 bot tournament, first round is 2 4 bot rumbles. Winners automatically go through. the second and 3rd robots to die in the first round rumbles fight eachother in 2 1v1 matchups (think RW heat semis). winners of those fights meet with the winners of the first round in 2 1v1s (with 1 First Round Winner vs 1 Loser Bracketeer per match), and then the winners of those fights fight eachother. Confused? don't be, just hold onto the edge of your seat, clench your buttocks and prepare yourself.

Arena used will be the Octagon, for meme purposes.

Robots will all be stock middleweights and sourced either from BBEANS 1 (because there were quite a few memes in there due to how old the tournament is and how young the game was) or the bot exchange.

Robots will basically be a lineup of memes.

Robot list:

Wolverine by Meganerdbomb
PieLaunchertheSecond by Novasod
Spinner from the West (it may be a LW but it's a classic meme) by Wakkydude
Pyramid of Doom by pizzaguy2020
Firestrom by WenXiangLee
Four by Rob Collins (it's not actually bad but it's IRL in stock and i'm running out of competitor ideas)
Mike Tyson by Playzooki
Razor Guy by BDBlu/Mastertech

welcome to the clowntown **** the world sh**fest 2017.

hey guys, memes, amirite?

Maymay

But fr, shoddy camera work. Why :V
I thought it was set to full screen, the camera on the arena was static, i could not see the whole thing on my screen.
BTW for ava, i needed to use, the DSC IRL packs.
Have to agree with Hoppin with this one. While Badnik did make a bit of a meme bot for the challenge match, the camera work and the editing was shoddy and poorly done. I can excuse the fact that Asbesto had problems with the screen settings, but I don't think he knows that Action-cam does exist in the download section. So he could just record again with the problems fixed, or at least let someone who has experience in this area have a go in recording the match.

no offense asbesto but i think you should let someone else record

« on: October 08, 2017, 11:04:57 AM »
I think a IRL title seperate from the challenge belt, and even the main titles if you want, wouldn't HURT anyone, and would either just A: do nothing to hurt/help or B: help by keeping IRL builder happy.

Opinion: If we allow people to do whatever they want in display, with no rules or deadlines, people won't run official tournaments. Why would they? If something happens and you have to drop your tournament, no consequences if it's a display!

IE If we run a 'loose ship', people will flock to that 'ship'

hmm. you have a point.

say we make it so that if a display tournament could, and probably should, be run in the official section and the person running it is a known good tournament hoster the tournament is automatically and mandatorily made official, and if the personal tournament hoster is known for failing tournaments (personal and official) then a failure gives them a full hosting ban?

i've already introduced myself with rotary macerator but hey i exist

imo i say that if a tournament can't be run in the main tournament area because it doesn't fit those rules exactly, is private/a test-run of another system, or is a total meme/a first tournament attempt from a untrustworthy/unexperienced member it should go in personal tournaments. Just loosen up the rules on personal tournaments and allow anything in here as long as A: it's tournament based and B: it's not going to catch on fire and explode due to being too meme-y, flamebait, or anything else that could cause issues.

Basically, run a loose ship, and then run a tight ship on the rest of the tournament section.

In personal tournaments, you should allow: signups on non-standard/oddball/non-traditional tournaments or even non-tournaments (like perhaps an unofficial challenge board, ran and presented like robot wars extreme 1 or banter wars 2.5 (yeah, i know my banter wars biatch) (lol no i don't)), signups for tournaments that people don't want to overly hype and then underdeliver, or just tournaments run based on the bot exchange/ai packs.

Just my personal opinion. bit of a mess but there's a method to the madness.

Can people enter this or are the entrants already decided?
A bunch of us entered through the Banter Wars Discord group.
How does one join this group?

Also, a preemptive apology to hoppin for derailing his thread.

rotary macerator 2: weapons-don't-fall-off-if-you-sneeze-on-them edition

rotarymacerator2.png

it's underweight. this peeves me somewhat.

i was considering adding a mace weapon breaker on the other side attachment point on the plow extender, but i'm not sure how i'd do that without using the evil witchcraft known as ra2cf (which I only used to attach the plow with, something i definitely could have done without it but i didn't fancy killing even more of my brain cells by building in stock)

anyways, next robot isn't gonna be rotary macerator 3. I've done that too many time at this point: i'm either thinking HW rammer (because the beetlebros site is a source of cheap clones inspiration) or a crawler (because i'm seeing all the popups in revolution 2 and going "nah m8").
