I feel like Joe didn't test his AI with the new version of his robot...
I dont know what was going on with the self right? It is meant to use the weapon to do that I dont know if that was the wrong bot file used (I did send a couple with different self right controls) or if it was because R1885 was still in the tracking zone meaning it wanted to evade instead of self right... cant say I ever had that issue in testing though
If its not too late I might make a few quick changes?
I ran out of time to code any sort of strategy to not attempt the evade moves if its under another robot which ultimately cost it in both matches.. but hey its an improvement over RY3NO and not bad for a robot thats a few years old..
Its been a quest to basically make a robot thats smarter and more adaptive then Seism 13.. never thought it would be easy though :P
Do you have a detailed post somewhere describing how this actually works? From what I got from the video, it looks like it can flip itself over in case it gets outwedged but some AI errors caused it to trigger at the wrong time as well as using that for the srimech.

Anyone have an AI .py file that works with full-body spinners? Not SnS, I'm talking something like this:
(Image removed from quote.) where the chassis spins, but the drive doesn't.
I talked to apanx on discord about it but it doesn't seem like there's one readily available. I'm still kinda clueless about the whole python thing (the one i posted a few days ago was a pretty easy copy/paste job) so I'm basically stuck.
I guess the regular HS ones won't work for some reason because the AI's using the chassis for directions?

I would say I seriously regret entering Hydrogen, but I'll wait until I get a matchup I can win to say that XD Also, what was with the spinning? What AI is it using?
I wasn't that happy with my bot as well, especially since most bots have side protection so the spinners can't really get to anywhere, but it seems to work out so far? As for your bot, think that's simply the snapper 2 axles being weak? I've read that attaching them to the back attachment point is better for stability. Still Sucks looks nice, weren't Flail Rammers in DSL done like that before? Yes but your game isn't running in 1080p, it's at whatever 2003-tier res you selected in the ingame menu. I have a tutorial in the tutorials section if you wanna put some time into it. If not, just make sure your game is running at 1080p.
ohhhhh. Now I get you. I've just got mine set to 800x600 res and high detail. I like to have a few things open when im recording, so its handy just sticking RA2 in a liil window on it's own haha but that's most likely why the quality isn't up to scratch.
I may well look into your tutorial in the near future, but im fine with how it is for now, I've only got like a week to finish this tourney up so I'd rather stay focused with what little time I have for the time being, cheers though!
In other news, Round 4 is up!
I don't mind 800x600 as long as the encoding isn't bad, but I guess having it with higher resolution would be nice. Also don't change the graphic details, open up ra2.cfg and set graphicdetail=0, this has the high graphics setting but with the chassis rendnering of the low one(don't worry, quality won't be worse) so none of the chassis texture skins will be glitched and you can use trov chassis glitch bots, which would otherwise crash the game. Bots like Big Disc Club have the AI attack radius lower so it first sets down before starting to spin up(don't worry, this radius is just for spinning up the first time, after that the bot will keep on spinning and never slow down), it lost more that way but could've also been more of a crawler.
Yeah it's definitely a shame. Fracture warned me that it sometimes happened with the AI he supplied, but what can you do?
I also thought it was funny how the match with a couple of the other bots went, yours for example, where he got shunted out almost instantly. Almost finished editing round 2 in other news.
Thoughts on Round 4: Yeah, I was quite surprised to see that as well, my bots throwing two OOTA that way. Vs Big Disc Club another OOTA like expected Vs Big Time Hammer expected a loss but looks like the wedges worked and Big Time Hammer was pushed up high enough that it wouldn't hit. Also is it just me or was Big Time Hammer's Flame not working in all of the matches? Vs Still Sucks Wedge War and like I expected, I lost it. Gotta find out why the original Snowy had such good wedges(think the front wheels weren't touching the ground?) Lol at the delayed end and Still Sucks using Snowy to clean up the entire arena. Vs Tidehunter Same story, funny how the N12 wheel temporarily stopped the blade. vs YouWishIWasAGirl Thought it would be over after the wedges failed to work, loved the double flip and somewhat surprising victory. Vs Conundrum V5 This bot was originally built to fight Conundrum v5(for a challenge, not this tournament) and while it's wedges worked right it won almost every match. Just me or was Conundrum v5 wobbling around at the start? If the first wedge fight fails thats where it's usually over, my bot was able to recover a bit but it didn't work out.
Overall, not as good as it could've been with fully working wedges, but still a great performance.

R01, the running order was randomised using one of the widgets on random.org, I didn't want to run in the order people submitted. Also, I am going to include the two prizes in a side-pack for everyone to download, and then merge them into IRL Pack 3 when that is released. I will post that within the next few days. And for the umpteenth time, there will be a fight involving F1Krazy and Rob Collins. Shocking
So far the list of Bonus matches I have is:
- Top 4 Rumble - Middle 4 Rumble - Bottom 4 Rumble - Flipper Rumble
I am also thinking of running this match:
The Clock vs Two Brothers (Guldenflame and Havok McSplosion)
I'm looking for one more matchup, can be either against The Clock or another participant.
Ah I see, I didn't know about this and as such was a bit surprised to see my bot that far back and the comment about a bot that was that late in the list doing so well.(As such I wasn't sure which date was used as entry one, since I sent a "unfinished" version early on and only updated the skin and name a few days before it started). Also was going to suggest to release the pack here(if the other people that got stuff don't have anything against it) so people get to access it earlier, but I didn't know how far pack 3 was and it wouldn't make much sense to directly release it if pack 3 was about to be released as well. The Tournament was well done(even if I basically saw everything at once), great host. For bonus matches I was going to suggest the two hammers vs the clock and a match of the three rammers, dunno if they're still available and think the ones that were done are already enough. Most Exciting Bot: Time Machine, from the first few hits where it was bouncing around like crazy, you wouldn't know what would happen. SFTW Award: Saber(sorry, but I just don't see this bot working, would love to see a updated version however) Luckiest Bot: Hyperslash Unluckiest Bot: Speedy Speed Boi. Actually no, Baconflipz because it would've had a time of 20 or 21 seconds if that AI mistake didn't happen. Surprise of the Tournament: Hyperslash making the Clock bounce away like that. Greatest Moment of the Tournament: Dunno if you're allowed to vote for yourself, but I found that last flip of R01 quite impressive.

I bet one of the flipper bots will take it. Seems like the most efficient way to go about getting rid of the Clock. Here's hoping mine doesn't completely embarrass itself. (it probably will)
That's why I built a flipper, was thinking about how to get rid of it, but with the disc on top as well as having the blade on side, a hammer+sidehammer setup didn't seem to be effective. Was thinking about doing a V bot with a flamethrower and hammer but that simply didn't seem effective enough than pushing it off or flipping it out of the arena. Originally I had a flipper with two beta motors in mind, which meant that the chassis would be big, also for some reason they still wouldn't have the power that I wanted as well as making the entire bot too heavy which gave it low battery life. Then switched over to this "skeleton flipper"(wouldn't really call it that) setup, just focusing on the main thing, if it wouldn't be able to flip out the Clock then there's no need to delay the match any further. The bot needed strong flipping power(which the two betas didn't give, think the power of the 3 VDMA's is lower but there's more initial speed/pushing power which is what was needed?) as well as fast drive(regular twm's were out of question and no idea how much better NPC's would be, they had odd AP's) and having a low angled wedge(at one point I was going for a Forkie like setup, didn't really work out and the bot was too heavy), small chassis(similar to clone clash) so that there's enough weight for components. During testing I noticed how adding angled skirts wouldn't be a bad idea as it makes it harder for spinners(was using Redace's DSL IRL Pack Grog) to get around to the side as well as how the bot could need a larger wheel base to make it more stable. Didn't want to move the motors sideways as this could make them a easy target. The spikes(originally even longer) worked out well and as long as you aren't going at SNS speed, they don't cause any issues. Also added a bit of armor to protect the flipper motors and some extra supports which lead to the spikes being shorter, but they were still stable enough. Buster Wheels because I felt like it and thought they look nice. Testing against Grog(which was 200 kg heavier than the Clock but also less damaging) was mixed, luckily I figured out the perfect position to flip and as such got the smartzone right.(since DSL's smartzones are outdated they weigh 0.1 kg which made the bot a 399.0 HW, discussed this with DSC as it should be ok for smartzones to get the bot over the weight limit. It's a unwritten tournament rule just like Mad's smartzones being allowed in almost all tournaments) Now I've seen the actual height of the blades on The Clock, I think I mounted mine too low. rimp me
Hyperslash was pretty good. Go Hyperslash.
You aren't the only one that expected the Clock to be different. I didn't think it would be as tall and that the blade would be in the middle, not a undercutter like that. Think next time it would be better to have pictures from all angles. Hyperslash got lucky, some bots were just lacking range or having the wrong height to attack.
If I knew about the height I would've made a adjustable HS, similar to what Bombshell had, but with the normal ring spinner setup(where the blade is in the middle) it didn't seem like a good idea. Loved the details like Speedy Speed Boi and Waluigi. Episode 1: Akaname sadly didn't have long enough hammers or the right height(again a problem that couldn't be seen in the preview image), else would've had a good chance.
Time Machine did surprisingly well, now if it only wouldn't bounce around that much after a hit.
Saber, I can see the concept you were going for but think it really needed a V setup to deal with the knockback and push the clock away, also there wouldn't be any supports when driving inverted. Were the spikes that heavy?
Hyperslash I feel like it got really lucky and if it wasn't for that one perfect ram and the Clock getting flipper over like that it would've had it.
Episode 2: The Little Bot that Could, lacks stability which is a big issue here. Also seems to be missing the side pannels it had in the preview? The Clock did quick work of it.
Mule's Kick, looks serious, also like the 3 wheel drive. Wedge is a bit steep but I guess it was trying to do what Green Arrow did in Wildcard Rally. First flip was nice but too much upwards and too little forwards. The Clock almost had this one.
Speedy Speed Boi, a nice entry. Althrough I'm not too much of a fan of Eteks, are they really worth it? They never really felt much faster for me. it started nice again, with a good flip but once again it went too much upwards(then again you really need that upwards flip to get bots over the walls) The Clock then started to mess it up but it was able to push it off. Wonder what's up with that track setup, only having a low part touch the ground.
Pinchy, ah, so this was Rob's entry for this. It looks nice but I doubt it's able to get far, missing defense. The claws were on axle mounts?
Episode 3: Try Hard or Try Home, nice idea but because the Clock was an undercutter it didn't have much of a chance. Nice to see how it destroyed the Mechav discs however. Messy BTC Fix version, I see, mini and MechaV disc. Didn't know that the flat armor plate could be used like that, gotta keep it in mind.
Cyanide, same problem as Akaname, not enough range and maybe not enough defense? Depends on how it gets hit. Did do a good job at ripping away one of the Typhoon teeth. Almost got destroyed by the Clock.
R01. I don't know why the bot is that far back as I sent it in a lot earlier, bot didn't have a skin and name at that point and since I didn't have time or ideas, the plastic texture simply got colored grey and it got the name R01. Usually I wouldn't do that with textures but since it's just a tiny box at the back of the bot and the entire thing is grey already, it wouldn't make much difference and fits more with the bot design.
Because the flipper pannel would clip the other motors, I had to add that tiny extender in front, during testing it didn't break so it seemed to work even if the wedge was a bit more in front. The first flip was risky, the bot could've gotten into a position where it couldn't self right properly, wasting time and getting hit(similar to what happened to Badger's) but it was able to stablize itself. Due to the fast speed the flip was too late, also looks like it got hit and pushed a bit to the side. The second flip was perfect, althrough all the weight from the Clock made it fall over. Amazing height and I think even if there was a wall, the Clock would've been out of the arena. Happy with the performance, the bot won the fight and that with only two flips, a one flip OOTA would've been even more amazing but hard to pull off and I should be happy that the AI managed to not mess it up.
Baconflipz, the spinner killer wedge is nice, but as you can see during the video, the Clock was still able to clip through the top of it. Would've almost had a win there.
Final thoughts I'm a bit surprised that I won and happy that the AI pulled it off right. I originally expected this to be way more close and not to have many bots that fail to complete the challenge, but they either got screwed over by the height of the Clock or not having taken the knockback/range into account. Still was fun to see so many different entries.
So... I won (one of?) those components. If they wouldn't be part of the next irl component reskin packs I would ask if the Tournament Host would be ok releasing them to everyone as I'm not a fan of limiting components, but I'm obviously in the minority with that thought. Well, still nice, hope I can use them well on a bot one day.
Congratulations to R01, who snuck in at almost the last moment and took the title with a Nine-second knockout of The Clock!
Thank you to everyone who took part too, thank you for making my first tournament a success, hopefully more will be following in the future.
Thanks, I'm a bit suprised about the last second part however since I originally submitted the bot as 7th person. It wasn't until later where I updated the bot(name & skin) but it was sent in early. Loved the little details you put into this. Also what was the victory music(or music in general)/where did you get the other sound effects from?

BTW guys, I wrote this AI line myself, tested it in my game, ot worked, and then I sent it to him. I also had sent him one woth Popup.py and it didn't work, so I believe it doesn't have anything to do with the binding line itself as they were working 100% in my game.
This is true. As had Redace.
I can get both bots to work using Omni. Which leads me to think that it must be something in the Flipper2/Popup files that is causing the error.
Both files are up to date and in the correct folder.
Check what other files those are referencing, might need another .py added or a updated version of pusher, rammer or something. Also I guess you've got the Ai.py files from the hosts as well? Edit: another thing that came to my mind, you are referencing popup and flipper2 by the right name(the one used in the .py file and not the filename)?

Eternalsnowy? That's the AI name but the Bot is actually Snowy 1.0, don't mind keeping it however.

Id try setting your weapon numbers correctly or at least to a value other than zero.. I could be wrong but id imagine the game wouldnt like a nil value for that section.
Plus the weapons line is tracked while in battle which may explain why the robots get as far the countdown before giving you trouble
Having them set to "0, " works, I've done that before. I guess there's a tab somewhere where spaces should be? I've had crashes like that as well which happened because of exactly that.

How did you do this exactly?
Looks like RA2CF and two rings on the motor(second ring attached on top of the first), everything else should be more or less obvious?

Oh well, didn't really get far and the bot didn't get to show much of it's potential, but I did say that I probably spent too much time for something that could go out in round 1. Don't think that the bot design is bad, if it just wouldn't get launched that much into the air it could actually work. IF might not be the right choice, but DSL isn't that stable on it as well, well maybe it doesn't work then. Originally wanted to post some of the custom component descriptions as the bot progressed through the Tournament but didn't really have the time for it, so might as well post it now: Maybe 090901 is going to do some grudge matches where the bot could show a bit more of what it can do.

I don't find removing batteries and moving motors and anchors within one chass very IRL for "interchangeable" weaponry man.
Removing batteries is technically IRL, , Brutus did it against Tombstone to put on more armor. Also thought the entire point of IRL bots was too look like IRL ones, doesn't matter how certain parts are built. Middle part could also be a big interchangeable part like Tornado had.

may enter this with something else as a multibot into toreo idk (Image removed from quote.)
199.9 kg currently
Interesting drive setup, is there a special reason for it to be that way?

Liked the bonus fights that Hypershocked got, wasn't sure if I could do a second victory against Green Arrow and hope the fight against Blizzard(which wasn't too bad) was somewhat entertaining. The concept of the bot isn't that bad, it can actually work if done properly.
Coolest entry: Green Arrow, really clean, now if only the extender color fitted a bit better and if there was a way to hide the burst motor better. Performance was also rather good, could be swapped with the best entry. Best entry: Blizzard, would've had it above and while it does have some weak points, the other bots just have a bigger weakness. BTSHDBBDDTBL: Blackjack SFTW: Great Suisse Luckiest entry: Hypershocked, hate to vote for myself, but what can I say. Hoped more that people would vote for how the bot looks or entertainment than having a easy opponent. It did screw someone over in the finals, but out of all the people I don't think Redace should've been screwed out of it by that. Best moment: Green Arrow vs Spinneroo, perfect strategy and gave me hope that flippers still work in this game.

Would try to get the wedges lower so they actually work as wedges
lol what are you even talking about ? those are not wedges. the Nightmare style design isn't even supposed to have wedges.
they're wheel armor.
Yes, but they could easily be turned into wedges, being even lower to the ground and helping to protect the wheels against spinners and undercutters.

Really like to use of the ram plates, I was try a similar idea regarding the angled Co2 pistons, but my one question is if it goes on it's side? But other than that really great!
This thread hasn't seen a reply for quite some time, think if I do happen to get lots of free time I might go back to Stock and do a updated version of this bot or a more competitive flipper in general.(surprisingly it could still beat a few Starcore v1 bots, similar to how Calmarius? Popup bot did, then again I'm aware that's just V1) Getting on the side can be trouble but since you have burst motors you can try to wiggle around and land upside down, at which point it could self right easily. Think the best solution(which I'll try to add) would be to have some pole spikes sticking out on the side so it either lands on it's wheels or back, from which point it can easily continue. Edit: Hope you're talking about Atomizer here, because Orbital Launcher MK1 just doesn't work at all(I do have new ideas for a rear hinged burst piston flipper however)

Don't know what was up with everyone wanting to see Hypershocked so far
Tactical voting.
?
Basically - and please don't take offence to this - people wanted Hypershocked in the final over Blizzard and Arachnida because they felt it was the weakest of the three, and so they'd have a better chance of winning than if Blizzard or Arachnida were in the final. I wanted to vote for it myself for the same reasons but decided to be objective and vote for Blizzard instead.
I was aware to that, and no offense I knew that Hypershocked wasn't a good bot and possibly couldn't win against any bot(if there's even a slight bit of armor and decent chassis HP it will run out of battery life), the main reason I entered is so that people could see more destruction. What I was asking about was more the earlier rounds than the finale, althrough that could be for the same reasons.

Deathstalker was a nice bot, try to get the Axe length as well as the ground clearance issue fixed and please enter it again, loved it(minus the wedge part on the back, I'm generally not a fan of AI parts like that, also why I'm not too much of a fan of great suisse since it's a simple bot with mostly AI parts, but it's still a nice concept)
Just went back and completely rebuilt it from scratch; too late for GTMRW or Death Battle, sadly, but the new version will be handy for any future CW tournaments.
EDIT: Also gonna address this point:
Deathstalker vs Green Arrow Was a nice fight until Deathstalker's axe got stuck and it didn't try to self right anymore? Dunno what happened there but I think it got screwed out of victory again.
What happened there was, the axe motor's firing power is enough to right it if it's flipped, but its retracting power isn't. So if it gets flipped upside-down with the axe in the "fired" position, it's unable to retract the axe back to its starting position, and it's left stranded. That's happened in three of its four losses, and there's not really much I can do to prevent it happening, to be honest.
I noticed that later in the Rumble, before it looked a bit like the axe got stuck(and I've seen parts clip through the ground in DSL before), sad that the self righting is unreliable like that(adding some extenders or some kind of spike to make it fall on one side could maybe help?), I did think about the stock bots and this issue once(Deadbeat and Grog suffer from the same problem, not sure on Raptor), and think the idea I once got was to build some kind of cage which would support the bot if upside down so the axe could retract properly, then again that wouldn't allow it to self right since the axe wouldn't hit the ground.
Don't know what was up with everyone wanting to see Hypershocked so far
Tactical voting.

eh, remove the pink extenders that are close to the ground on the wedge ?
i don't like the look of that
Switch to plastic armor to get some more weight and make the hammer part longer(alternatively downgrade some of the extenders)? Also why is Wen in the picture
If the hammer is longer, it will intersect the flipper portion. Also, it's because he is.
Ah, true, unless you make it even longer but then it won't be able to go all the way down. Kinda complicated situation with Clampbots(and I think having it that far back would lead to it not hitting often?)
