Existing Games / Re: Nintendo Switch
« on: January 18, 2017, 12:25:59 AM »
My birthday is about two weeks after the Switch launch, but I'm not sure if I want it for then or later. It depends on what games are available at launch; I do not want to get it and then not use it for the six weeks between getting it and getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and then getting bored of it before Super Mario Odyssey comes out later in the year. Either way, I will most certainly own a Switch by the end of 2017.

I'm excited to see what games come out for this system and how the Joy-Con controllers are used. I have seen the list of developers that are already working with Nintendo; this may be the end of Nintendo's third-party woes that have been troubling it for years now.

Wonder if the democrats are gonna push for a fairer voting system now that the current system is working against them. The 2 party system needs to be dismantled for candidates that actually care about the people to come through.
The Republicans would never allow it to change, considering the current Republican president won because of the electoral college. Any future government may rely on the electoral college getting them in, too, so I doubt a Democrat would put it on their manifesto.
Either way, the Electoral College is to democracy as clear tape is to a broken vase: it works at least partially as intended, but not well enough to justify its continued existence.

I'm hearing Trump speak right now--and suddenly, he's sounding more like a politician. How strange.

Right now, there are protests happening just across the river in Oregon. It is late right now (12:06 AM PST) and I have no idea what to make of them, especially because I am not in the protests myself.

I remember when I first saw my home state, Washington, count votes. Initially, all the votes were for Trump, and all I could think was: "Washington, what are you doing? Washington, STAHP!"

I feel ill.
Me too a bit. Although I might just be tired. You live in Washington, too, right? You know it is late here.

Congrats murica... you managed to f yourself more than the uk did earlier this year  :claping
I'm sure that you would make a better president than the moldy Halloween pumpkin on legs--and you, being born in Germany (I presume), can't even legally be the U.S. President!

I can't wait to hear Obama's response to the election. In all likelihood, it will be a glorious decimation of that which is the target.

Resolve: PA now stands for "Pisswad Atrocities."

Although personally, I blame the outcome partially on the awful political discourse... everywhere by everyone. Whether it was attractive before his campaign or not, Trump's inflammatory discussion-clogging was partially responsible for his rise to popularity. That, and the fact that too many people voted for Gary Johnson--in this election especially, any vote not for Hillary is a vote for Trump. It's like the old World War II carpooling poster said: "If you're riding alone, you're riding with Hitler."

This is my first tournament in over a year, so I do not expect to win. My building skills, as my Retooled VS may reflect, are as rusty as my bots would be if they were real. And on the subject of my VS, the name is a Monty Python reference:

I just wanted to enter the first official GTM tournament and first Retooled tournament. Good luck to all the competitors!

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Any (retro) games collectors in the house?
« on: July 30, 2016, 05:31:39 PM »
Today I came across my fake Sega Genesis. It has 80 pre-loaded games; half of them are real Genesis games with terrible audio emulation, and the other half are homebrew puzzle games with just plain bad audio.

My first game systems were PS1, GBA, and Gamecube. Also, my dad gave me his old Atari Lynx a few years back. Additionally, I have a bunch of PC games on CD's from around 1995-2005 (and yes, this includes RA2).

I used to be into retro collecting around 2012-13, but not so much anymore. I have a Saturn, Dreamcast (~5 games each), and a CD-i (43... programs. Only a few of them are really games).

Has a pint of beer not a cup of tea next to him, 8.5/10

Also, he has no hat. I think he would look excellent in a top hat.

Without knowing that much about the DSL2.2 Power mechanics, do you really need all those batts?

From looking around DSL 2.2's files, I concluded that every battery has arbitrarily high electoral (amperage). However, the power that each battery supplies varies. If the in-game descriptions are accurate, then four PC-565 batteries should be sufficient to power the bot for three minutes.

LALALALA: I can't hear you over the sound of HAVING A NEW BOT!

Armor is Steel 3.

Since the release of DSL 2.2, I have been renovating some of my older DSL bots. This is one such bot, a heavyweight popup I made a while back known as Ripping Wedge II ("II" is for being a redesign of the original).

This robot is a jack-of-all-trades machine; It packs speed, defense, and power effectively. Though steep, bots still ride the wedge with relative ease, leaving their undersides to be ripped apart (hence the name Ripping Wedge).

The large panel jutting out of the top of the robot IS a srimech. This bot needs one because the weapons simply are not close to long enough to right it. Still, this works very well, and I would like to mention that slow mag bursts make phenomenal srimech motors. Normally, the srimech is down and fires outward; in the picture, it is fully extended in order to show the batteries.

ADVANTAGES:
+High power
+Wedgy
+Moderately fast
+Excellent frontal armor, effective against spinners

DISADVANTAGES:
-Needs a srimech (Not really that bad in all actuality, but still a slight hindrance)
-Probably somewhat slow for a popup

Expect more bots of a similar nature soon.

I was just eating a salad. There were dressing and croutons on the top layer, but farther down, there was just dry lettuce. This is yet another reason to not embrace trickle-down economics.

What do you call boring Mexican food? Aburrito.

On my recent trip to Australia, all of the wildlife ignored me. I knew deep down that I had been ostrich-cized!

STORY TIME: One time, I went to a local Sheri's with my Speech and Debate team for dinner. I looked at the menu and saw a pie called--one cannot make this up--NSA pie. I had no idea what NSA stood for in the context of that pie, but I ultimately commented on it as such: "NSA pie? Oh my god, THEY'RE PIE-ING ON US!"

I have a question: does a poor-quality vacuum cleaner suck or not suck?

Why did Dr. Ben Carson suspend his campaign?

Today I changed a light bulb, crossed the road, and walked into a bar. That's when I realized that my life is a joke!
