General Support / Re: Windows 7 and DSL fighting me
« on: April 20, 2013, 09:24:25 AM »
Ok, followed up to checking file size

Sadly it keeps telling the file size is WinRAR archive (183 MB) before even downloading it and afterwards.

extracted
size 464 MB
Size on disk 477 MB

Looks like I'm some how missing something when I download it, which does explain it not wanting to work, me and my friends call this the phantom file affect, happened with another game before...... what would be blocking the data though?

I don't know really whats different and what data is missing but what ever it is..... DSL seems to be working on my system now.

Ok but get this, I just fired it up to see what would happen..... and it opened up... proceding with tests will edit when tests are complete..... I have yet to move the files from my C drive (there not even in program files yet)

Its more stable then stock..... don't know what the change is but its working, thanks though guys.

I have, both over writing my stock and into its own, it refuses to work, as long as I stick to the DSL component pack the game seems more less stable, however recently (few hours after I posted this) I've discovered AI crashing my game, noticeably emergency, why would AI crash the game on win 7? Could this have something to do with the DSL issue?

Ok, so I'm trying to get back into RA2 DSL after a number of years, upgraded my systems since my last appearance here and it does not want to behave.

I reinstalled my downloaded copy, stock works and plays fine so far. Its updated to 1.3 and works where ever I place it on my win 7 system.

I installed DSL TC and then RA2 suddenly decided it was going to hate my guts, I moved it all over the place after I saw in another thread that sometimes it does not like some area's of win 7, I got the ready to go DSL download as well and that refused to work no matter what I did, I went through a number of threads to trouble shoot seeing worked for others and no luck.

I'm on a win 7 (did I mention win 7?) system
Nvidia optimus card (that's the only info I can find on it (via sticker on the laptop)) as well as a intel (no difference in game working)
duel core 2.30 processor speeds
Game opens but suddenly windows detects that error that means it needs to shut the game down before it even reaches the adds at the beginning. Before I even get to the main menu.

I've reinstalled the game
Stock works
moved game directory to desktop, my documents, program files (both x86 and none)
made sure I installed 1.3 patch (then stock works) and 1.4 but no DSL still
Gotten Sages ready to go DSL extracted it into my stock game over writing what it needs to and to its own and no luck

I'm a bit stumped on what to do next.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention I tried all the compatibility options as well.

Also, I know that more people watched the match than Badnik and I. Discuss! Predict! Talk! Do something!

Ok tis will talk. To be honest I kind of expected my bot to die as fast as the others that I'v entered in other ternaments. Though V3 will have flipper defense once I figure out how this one is lasting a lot longer then I expected. (Though then again I was not expecting to spin up so fast/move/recover so fast lol.

Discussion / Re: What are your motivations to play RA2?
« on: September 04, 2011, 10:42:46 PM »
To have fun and not have to worry if its effective at all or not. Some times I find it fun to see just how bad a bot can fail cause it just fun watching them go flying or something. Having to make every thing 'effective' and 'right' kills the fun.

You don't have to listen to them...

But this causes flaming, so there is no point in posting.

May not post them but as the saying goes "Practice makes perfect." so even if you make a decent bot (or thought ya did) and posted it bang even if your just wanting to show it off thinking you just want to show it ya still got at least half the forum jumping on your tail to make the bot better. And after it been made better its looks almost nothing like you intended it just another clone of something else. But thats an entire topic on it own.

And as Perytor said, if you don't listen to them then your flamed labeled a sparky and become a target for everyone to pick on.

If I recall right yes one can. In FB's component pack there's a rubber cone in there that did lots of damage yet was bouncy and did not seem to be able to take damage from the arena things like floor walls ect.

If that where to pass then you'll have hundreds and up protesting just due to the fact the law came to there door saying they did that. Granted there are something up there that are still for sale for movies and such but hey, taking the freedom of watching stuff on line (cause youtube is used way to often for this to really work) I'm sure thats not going to go over well with the population.

Soo.. did GTM became a relationship counseling website over night or something?

If this is a relationship counseling website then its by far the worst one I'v ever seen.

How I see relationships? They can be good or bad all depending how you try to do it.

So far for me at least I find you get the best results when your in it because you like the person not the body. To many people go in for the looks and that does not work. Only results in one or the other getting hurt or even both. If your in it just for your self your set up for a failer and trouble and hurt right away. A few things I go by are respect truth and honesty loyalty and the want to respect them for they are not for what they look like. So far for me I got a GF accross the land mass yet me and her are closer then a lot of couples that I see around the places I go. School ect. For a good relationship you need to be respectful meaning not constantly tearing them down trying to get what you want, you also need to be truthful and honest, a relationship with out those leads to both of you unable to trust each other leading to a lot of trouble, loyalty is needed cause if you feel no loyatly towards you bf or gf then you and her or vise versa are at a large risk of cheating and dumping the other.

why you guys are pissing me off? -.-'

If you ask me its do to you being a easy target (no offence met). They pick on you and you give them a reaction. Trolls and bullies just love it when they get reactions. Its like giving a baby candy. Why trolls and bullies work like this is normally due to other issues which I could explain in a PM if ya want. Other wise I know I'll get even more flack then what I'll get just for this.
