Looks to me that it's more of an issue of Z-tek rotation.  You have the pointed end of the Z-teks facing down, which doesn't allow shiny hubs to touch the floor.  If you put the flat side down, it should work.

oh that's why! Of course, thank you so much. I've been trying even the most simple of bots with square chassis and 4 wheels, nothing worked. That makes much more sense now..

I tried to have only a few anchors, and at one point I had 8. However, the game only allows a few items per anchor, so I was only able to put on maybe 2 razors each. I had anchor > splitter > extender > axle > extender > 20cm > razors. Now I have all that except the splitter, plus another set of 20cm > razors. Any way to improve this without sacrificing weapons?

here's a video:

what are some of the records for fastest kills? (other than HW vs LW)

Yup. Complete redesign. changed to razor flails, added another pair of wheels, made wheels on outside to compensate, and made chassis smaller. However shiny hubs aren't big enough or something because it wouldn't drive with them. I went back to my orginal wheels and this thing is a beast. It's able to either hands-down no problem beat 3/4 heavyweight AIs in starcore or be easily torn to pieces by the other 1/4.

It appears that flails somehow get past most of the weapons/armor, hitting straight at the chassis. Depending on the design, it can KO in only a few good hits. Specifically, 1337 speek 2.0 is completely butchered by this. I won in 8 seconds in one round against him.

Ah, I was looking at it from a real life perspective. However, it seems that it's simply game physics that make them better. Thanks for the tip!

I think if the weapons were on axles it would be much more effective, like this:

Also, Welcome!

Ah so that's what they call flails? Fascinating idea, but I just can't seem to think that having them free-spinning would be much better. The biggest problem I have is when something is partly immobilized and it's difficult to hit it because of the circle of weapons. I imagine this has a long wind up time so it wouldn't be easy to kill something like that.

Seems like you have really too much extenders, minimize your extender work.

Also add another pair of HP Z-teks and wheels, so it spins faster.

and how would I add another set of wheels? If I put them on the outside, I'm basically just copying the entire above suggestion at that point.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely change wheels. As for empty space, I don't think I can make it much smaller. The motors have odd hitboxes that make them take up even more space than normal when they're rotated like that.

EDIT: and yes, I do know the special armor glitch

so, I used to play robot arena way back when I was 13. I played it all the time without any guides or forums. I don't have the files, but I did manage to recreate my most famous bot, badname. This thing never lost. Ever. To be fair, it was with a bunch of IRL friends and we only knew what we found out, so I'm sure I'm going to be slaughtered a few times here. Regardless, I picked robot arena 2 back up after a long time and I rebuilt my old beauty!

So what can I do to get this up to speed in terms of the new meta going around?

EDIT: just realized I should explain how it drives. It can go forward, backward, turn like normal except due to the wheels being positioned symmetrically across from eachother it can spin at pretty high speeds when all the motors are spinning the same way. I don't know if it's good for a horizontal spinner, but I can usually hit 2500s now and then with 500s going constantly.

yeah got it working, and oh, the nostalgia! I pretty much grew up on this game, and I haven't touched it in far too many years. I'm gonna whip out my old design that won a neighborhood tournament when I was 13 and post it on a showcase, see what you guys think.

ah of course! I figured that the latest patch would also include previous patches. I hadn't noticed the file size before now. I'll go ahead and reinstall it and do the patches one by one. Thank you!

I've got a CD version, and when I install it, I get this, with the same type of issue everywhere else as well: http://imgur.com/9h9szWv
I figured maybe the CD was scratched so I downloaded it, and got the exact same thing. I've installed the 1.4 patch and ran it in compatibility mode to the same effect. I've seen the same issue elsewhere, but the thread left with the guy saying he was going to email support. Anybody know anything about this?
