Personally I like Windows 7 far more than 8, and RA2 runs fine on my Win7 desktop and laptop. Unless you're gonna get something with a touchscreen I'd say don't bother with 8.
What Laptop do you have?

my main computer is a mac. you can do a false partition to run windows and games for it but it's a bit of a pain in the ass and everything won't always work. i did it to my mac and i still use my boyfriend's desktop pc for robot arena because it's easier and more stable. the mac is a far better computer but for games it's not going to cut it unless you've got the patience of a buddhist sloth
I'm really not a tech bloke so what you've said there didn't make a huge amount of sense for me lol. A lot of people say Windows 7 is a lot easier and better with games than Windows 8.

I would prefer getting a laptop as I may be off to Uni soon so but I don't know whether it would run smooth. Also I've heard that older games don't tend to run well on Windows 8, is this true? I would get a Mac but I don't know whether they RA2 runs on it?

I am going to get a new pc/laptop and am unsure what to get. I want to have a smooth running of RA2 and be able to do all the other computer stuff. My price range is up to £800.
Any ideas?

I was going to give my friend DSL beta 3 as he has windows 7 just like me. It works well on my computer but when I copied my file over to his computer, the game gets open but doesn't go any further and doesn't respond. We tried deleting the file and putting it back on but that did not work. Any ideas what the problem maybe?

If you've only tried once, just give it another try and see what happens. RA2 is kind of tempermental.
You are extracting the files from the .rar to the game folder and overwriting all, right?
I extract them, delete the stock files replace them with the dsl3 beta, I got on fine the first time went to play a match but then crashed and every time after that I start it up and it crashes
Oh ok, I'll try now
You don't need to manually delete the stock files. All you have to do is make sure the files for DSL3 overwriite the stock files. Some of the stock files will remain because they will still be used.

Before you all start moaning at me if this has been posted somewhere else, I've been looking for ages. With the DSL3 Beta it says you have to have a stock version of RA2. But I cannot find any stock versions! I downloaded RA2 V1.4 but it crashes as soon as it starts up! Please help me. All I want is the stock version of RA2 which I can put DSL3 Beta on!
