Here, and I just unzipped it and said yes to all on the override files.

This is where you're going wrong, if I read this correctly.
You need to extract DSL 2.0 to it's own directory (on your desktop for convenience, if you like), then extract the 2.1 patch to it's own directory, then cut/copy 2.1 and paste over the 2.0 files, then cut/copy all of that and paste over your RA2 installation.
Whew, long explaination.
That should get it working right.

Modifications / 3D modeller without Max

True, but variety is the spice of life... I was making these for the OpenRA project anyway (if they were going to continue to use the part-based method of bot building), not necessarily for RA2.
If anyone wants to have them, here's all of the motors I made. No textures.

The axle is indeed separate. I have quite a few more, if anyone remembers the render I put up on the official forums in the OpenRA topic...

How many people with Max are left anyway? I know Darkrat had it, Click- and Firebeetle do text editing...

Pretty cool. Can you kill anything though? May want to add a few spikes on the front there, for the finishing blow.

In the absence of a link and the first page of Google turns up nothing, I'll have to say I don't believe you. Show me this emulator and I may change my mind.

That's the thing, venko mah boy, I don't like making SHWs all the time. I really need to get into the habit of MWs, since that seems to be the optimal class (HWs are too hard to kill within 3:00, LWs are too bland). I guess I'll see how ByeyE stacks up in BBEANS and build off of that experience.

You can't get a .gmf from a model without Max. There just isn't any other utility.

Hmm, I guess I'll give this a shot. No harm in entering, right?

Do you have Max? Have you exported a model from Max into RA2 successfully?
I can try my hand at the wings and the tire's easy, but I can't make any attachment points because I can't export from Max because I don't have Max.

This one's a little more dangerous. Distro-ction is a full-body wheel assembly thingy with a lot of spikes, but the major damager is that 70kg hammer. A couple hits with that and the other bot will be feeling pain.

It's for vanilla RA2, not DSL. Though I'm sure you could hack it to work with DSL eventually...

Well, there's plenty of unprotected wifi around the house, so I have internet until I get my own service. Here's HammaTime!, if you'd care to fight with it. I'll have to remember how to AI this baby, it'd be fun to smack around (or be smacked around by).

Hey, another mass of metal to manage. This time it's a double HS/FS hybrid I dreamed up a little after HammaTime!. Coresicle  is the said mass of metal, a little over 3Mg. It's a little on the slower side, but a lot more stable than HammaTime!, understandably. It will outlast anything you can probably throw at it, but it'll more than likely lose by points.
Here's the preview, and then the download.

The discs on the back do spin, but they're really just because I wanted some secondary protection there. Not on motors, though, just attached to my armor supports.
Creativity = nought, I've made way too many SHW VSs in my time. The only real difference between them is whether I use hammers or discs, with the occasional barrel.
Video would be a problem right now, mainly because I'm in the middle of a move and the computer that has the bot (and RA2) is in a moving van headed for the new house, and the new house doesn't have any internet connection until next week. After that, I'll upload the .bot to mediafire or something and you can try it out yourself.
Speed? Oh yeah, it has speed. Turns well too. Batteries are a lot of the black rectangles.

Bleh. *post*

Not much creativity here, but it works. UnDeadbeat didn't really appreciate the power.

Is the bot database going to be back up anytime soon or should I upload this to mediafire or something?
EDIT: No reply about the bot database, so I uploaded it. HammaTime!

I could try, but judging from what's come out of my rebuilt bot lab, I wouldn't have anything good to show. I fail at anything below SHW.

Want to help a Netherlander with his college thesis? If you're a modder, take this survey. Something interesting I got from Moddb.

Well, I fixed it. I uninstalled my version of Python (2.52 to be exact), and removed the environment variable for it. I did not, however, try RA2 before removing the variable, so the uninstall of Python might have been unnecessary. As in, the variable might have been causing the problems, not the Python. I did the variable manually back in the day, so I have a sneaking suspicion that's what did it.
So, for those with this problem: Try getting rid of your Python environment variables, then if that doesn't work, your python install.

To fill in the gaps that venko has graciously left you, here's the link to the Beetlebros building tips.
And again because venko was lazy, here's the link to all the Starcore AI packs.

Modifications / New conversion I'm working on...
« on: July 01, 2008, 09:31:08 AM »
Just so you know venko, you're pretty much describing a torrent, being a p2p transmission that's split up into small chunks. In fact, making a torrent would be even better, since it would automatically split your file into chunks and be able to resume if... your power goes out? But I digress.
What you describe is also called Piracy, since the person you're transmitting the program to did not pay for it. If you're going to discuss software piracy, please at least do it though IMs or email, so we other forumites cannot be accused of complicity by negligence (however unlikely forthcoming charges are).

No, this is not another "wher do i get teh Maxxs?" thread. Rather, it's an offer to those who have Max 4/5 and would like to make a part pack.
To said Max owners:
If you would like to make a part or part(s), tell me and I can help with the models. Skins are not my strong point, but I will do my best.

EDIT: Here's a motor I whipped up. No texture yet.

File for those who want to look at it (3ds)
