Very nice, I like it!

The obvious thing to say now, is that you should upgrade your drive motors to HPZ's somehow. But I won't, because I think it is just fine the way it is.

It has become a VS/HS hybrid with the VS part having boosted motors (or chained.. I prefer to call it boosting since I feel "chained motors" sounds like all motors are spinning and they aren't). To be a complex spinner it would require spinner motors on the end of a spinning tribar (or any extender spinning radially).

To answer your question NFX, It wouldn't matter if they were HP zteks. It's the fact that the spinner motors have another mechanical device in their attachment chain that makes them spin faster, it might aswell have been a snapper or DDT or whatever. The tribars allready spin so fast they appear to be stationary.

Edit: Btw. The bot appears to be auto-self righting as a result of adding the third spinner, nice bonus!

Allright, this one's final. My love is renewed!

Meet Tristandon II:

As you can see I've added a HS motor with 6 irons, it works well and gives me much more options in terms of combat manoeuvres. Mostly because the new irons reach beyond the snowplows and the back of the robot. It's also alot harder to tip it on it's back and it's not as vurnerable at it's back either.

My thoughts exactly. I'll go back to my trusty 2WD and do some work on it's weaponry.

I did a rebuild for Tristandon today. I got rid of all the square and angled extenders and gave it DSA which gave me very nice weight advantage. I tried a few ideas for what to do to reach the weight limit. Tried to give it caster armor for instance but that didn't seem to make any sense.. now i've come up with this:

It now has 4x HP ztek drive! But I'm not sure if I like it, it used to be much more stable and less havoky then it is now. Any other suggestions?? I might just enlarge the chassis to give room for those motors with regular attachment.

Thanks for the tip NFX. I might lose the discs but I'm not sure about the servo's. I wired the servo's such that I can swing the HS motors forward if needed, if I go for a single servo I lose that ability.

Man, that's a nice bot, seriously! How does it fair against strong HS bots?

Here's a VS/HS hybrid I did. It's kinda slow but it has 6 boosted spinners with irons that extend way beyond the chassis on all sides to make up for it. It's core weakness is the redbirds for drive motors

Windforce:

And a nice battle shot:

There are some more battle shots of it in the battle shots thread.

Thnx for the link freeziez :)

Thanks for the tip but if I wanted to improve on Mortal Sin I would have done that a long time ago. Instead I built a completely new bot which became Tristandon. Mortal sin was built before I knew about all those nifty glitches and tricks and before I had ever been on a forum. It must be like 8 years old.. ;)

This is the first bot I showcased when I came on the other forum, it was very controversial back then. I wasn't even playing SC yet when I built it.

Mortal sin:

Not much to tell, what you see is what you get ;) It's all about the looks with this bot.

Here's a MW VS I like.

Slingshot:

Specs: Double HP ztek spinners with 4 razors each, double static wedges, double HP ztek drive, can self right.

I might replace the razors with maces, don't know where to lose the required weight though..

Could post some battle shots/results if anyone is interested.

I was around before StarcoreAI V3 was launched and I quit playing just after DSL got launched. I think I quit around 2004/2005 and had been around for some years by then.

Hey, that's the forum I was on and I remember Darkrat from back then! thanks for the link :)

Does anyone remember who it was that built at least 5 horizontal spinners per day that were only slightly different? He had a showcase of dozens of pages filled with them. Apparently it was so funny I still remember that, but not his name.

I would also try to reposition your drive motors so your wheels aren't so exposed.

Here's another bot of mine. Not nearly as original as Tristandon since this bot's design is pretty much how every MW popup was built back then, but I still like it alot. It wins battles and is a dream to drive. And maybe it's just fun for you guys to see the difference between those old bots and present day designs.

Here's NOX:

Some results (these are from the present)

It's a MW popup wedge with 8 razors on DDT's and a single DDT wedge.

It's a shame, it seems I've lost quite a few designs over the years. No wonder, considering I've gone through 4 different PC's since then.

*Edit* P.S. Where can I get the latest SC?

Thanks for the comments guys!

@Roboshark: My username used to be Shogun (hence the SR on the wedge for "Shogun Robotics") and I was active on the regular robotarena2 forums. I guess it was the official one, I don't really remember to be honest.

I'm sure to attend to those showcase you mentioned!

Thanks for the tip on the extenders, I thought squares had better HP..

The servo's are only there to make the zteks go hyper, nothing else.

I know how to get DSA, but I used to think it lame to use because of the weight advantage. When boosting or stacking you always have to pay the weight price at least, DSA is just free armor..
But I might rebuild this bot entirely with all your tips in mind and give it DSA aswell ;)

Thanks! I'll be scrolling through a lot of designs on this forum this weekend. I've allready seen some cool bots!

@Vertigo: It has regular steel armor.

Hello fellow virtual roboteers!

I'm new here, but not to RA2. I've been on an other forum in the past but have been away from RA2 for like 6 years, so said forum has vanished..

Anyway, without further ado.. I want to know if my designs still hold up after all these years so I'll be posting them one by one in the near future. Constructional criticism is welcome!

So here's Tristandon:

Some info:
Type: VS (dôh)
Class: Heavy
Weapons: Dual vertical spinners with irons, boosted by servo's, additional DDT with wedge
Strengths: Very heavily armored, stable, powerfull weapon, hard to get under, can self right if it's on it's back.
Weaknesses: Vurnerable at the back, can get stuck on slopes or on it's side.

No DSA and no stacking in this one
