Sorry if this isn't very relevant, but I joined the RA2 community wayyy back then... I'd like to estimate 2003 or 2004. By the way, my usernames were probably Dr Doughnut and Gerbilfyed, and I was an annoyingass 10 year old who just discovered internet forums at the time :P. Those forum bans were justly deserved :P Anyways, I'm amazed that this community is STILL alive and active, and I'm glad there is a section for combat robots that still shows the sport, more or less, is still alive in some manner. Robot combat has been a large driving factor in who I am today. I first got into Robot Wars when I was 3 or so, and that sparked my interest in robotics. Middle school, I became an active member of my robotics club, in Highschool, I lead my robotics team to victory and strengthened my interest in Engineering, and now I am about to be a sophomore (junior if by credit hours) at Texas A&M University for Computer Engineering, and I am still set on robotics. I've also been building a Gundam cosplay which has near completion. ( http://imgur.com/a/JF8Am ). But yea, I'm surprised but glad that the community from an obscure game from 2003 is still alive and well. EDIT: ACAMS has the same avatar hes always had since I first remember him

I was probably the most hated member back in the day, except possibly TDS... at least on RFSHQ.
Plus its been years, and we have hopefully advanced by then.

To get you up to speed...
ACAMS owns this forum and runs it with Goose (he is not here much). Clickbeetle, Madiaba, Darkrat (who is not here pretty much ever anymore), and Starcore are Admins here. JoeBlo and kill343gs are Global Moderators, and Pwnator and Naryar moderate the Showcase sections, with Trovaner moderating the main RA2 section.
We have had eFFeeMMe, Luigica, kraZy, MiniDJBeirne, MAD Scientist, and a few others show up from the old forums. Rolo also came and stayed for a while until he got pissed and left because he got annoyed.
Clickbeetle now runs the Number 1 most successful AI Tournament, BBEANS. We never do online tournaments anymore. The bots are AIed and put in a bracket after being sent to a single user. The 6th BBEANS Tournament is so far the most popular, being the first to fill a 64 Bot Bracket. The Winners so far were Polinator (Cooker) in BBEANS 1, MikeNCR in BBEANS 2, ACAMS in BBEANS 3, Naryar in BBEANS 4, and Firebeetle in BBEANS 5. tons of other AI Tournaments are around though, there are guides everywhere for AIing.
I definitely know Goose, I remember Darkrat, Clickbeetle, Starcore, and kraZy. I honestly don't remember any of the other ones. Is JimXorb or something like that around?

SWARC seems dead, and I can't find info about any Southwest based robotics leagues, especially in Texas (Where I live). I'd be happy to form a robot combat circle, except for I don't exactly have the funds for starting one, save an antweight/beetleweight arena.

This game has no depth, you cannot easily create your own robot, and its not that great.
Although I understand this is a work-in-progress :P
Either way, this is a great start already. I hope you guys can really finish it. I know only basic C++, so I don't think I could help much, but this is pretty cool

I remember when YOU joined, and yes, you were a lot like LRA2, and Sparkbutt.
Hmm, memory might be a bit rusty then, but I still remember your trashcan robot thing. And I got banned. 3 times I think. I want the link to my lulzy stupidity back in the day. If my 10 year old self came back, I'd be pretty pissed with him too. At least, ACAMS wasn't an admin at the time. Is RA2 on the public domain now? Also, can anyone link me to some good guides on how to make robot parts and arenas, aswell as AI bots? I'm not a noob at this kind of stuff, as I've created some pretty complex designs on Autodesk Inventor, and Autodesk 3dsmax is very similar.

Oh gosh, thats a hard question to ask.
I got involved in the RA2 community roughly from 5th grade to 7th grade, when I stopped. I'm currently about to be a senior in highschool. Back in the day, I would annoy people by whining and posting everything 1|\| 1337 |33(4|_|53 ! 7|-|0|_|6|-|7 !7 \/\/45 (001 (in 'leet' because I thought it was cool), and thus I got banned a few times at the official RA2 forums. I didn't know about IP addresses (Because I was a total noobitard back then). I then joined RFSHQ, back while it was on an invisionfree board.
After a while, I rejoined RFSHQ, but when they were on... was it phpBB or vBulletin?
So, I was probably active... 2003/2004 through 2005/2006 or so.
Does anyone have Steam? Add me, 'mushrooshi'!
Oh, and just as proof, I remember:
When Firebeetle and Clickbeetle (IIRC they were brothers?) just joined, Clickbeetle had a dungbeetle for his avatar, and Firebeetle had some vectorish angly emblem of his own
When Starcore had the boobs for his avatar
When Spoof/Smoof/some mod had that 3d animated Yin/Yang avatar
When clutch7 (or whatever his number was) had a spikey triangle thing for his avatar
when kraZy trolled the hell outta me and had his santahat anime avatar.
When ACAMS joined, and had his trashcan-shaped robot thingy for his avatar.
Meanwhile, being the lulzy noob I was, when I first meet HackerX on RFSHQ, I raged at him and said he was bad and such for getting banned. I treated the RFSHQ banned members list like terrorists.
I also remember how kraZy sent me tubgirl.

EDIT: Also, chances are, I've been involved in the RA2 community longer than probably 75% of everyone else here.
