DSL TC Showcases / teammayhem's bots
« on: May 08, 2008, 12:24:01 PM »
Okay this time I got a DOUBLE FEATURE. Two bots in one post. Yay!

By the way, these 2 bots are more for fun than anything else.

First up is a recent creation of mine called Goliath. I wanted to make a crusher type robot. I really like Razer and wanted to see what happens if I put 4 crushers on one bot. This is what happened.

The titanium sheet is attached to a magmotor for srimech purposes btw.

I think The Judge could use a 30-minute recess LOL.

Bot #2 is Grand Slam. More of a comedy robot using many bats from the robot Whack!. It's so-so in combat. gets owned by FBS's and other spinners.

The disc is powered by a Tornado Mer Gearbox.

The Judge is lame.

The preview pic is distorted for some of my bots for some strange reason I really don't know, but I was thinking of just replacing the preview pic with a pic of a question mark(s) kind of like how Clickbeetle put a drum picture for his Drumblebee bot. That would be cool if I could figure out how to do that.

Anyways, it does need to go on a diet. I'll try experimenting with invertibility and see what happens. :)

It's a MW. It uses one of those Perm Motors, but unfortunately has no srimech. any ideas for one are appreciated.

Here it is.

I was just asking if the rear end was protected really.

Anyways, Bonecracker is nice too. How does it do against flippers?

I've actually had WBC get stuck like that while fighting Dominator 2.

My other funny moments would be The Judge getting balanced on top of the Robot Wars arena side wall like Storm II did for you and multiple stupid KOs in the Bridge of Doom arena. I swear the AI can be so stupid.

Very nice bot. I saw this of the RA2 forums which apparently are here now. Is there a baseplate for the rear of the bot? I really can't tell if you removed it to show the insides or not.

Oh OK I'll remember that. The thing is that when I try to use a perm or Etek, I can't get it at the right angle to keep the drum off the ground. That's why I've been using the Flatmotor and the Harry Pottre or Slimbody motor. Space is what it comes down to. I don't want to make it too big. Anyways, I don't plan on using CoNunDRUM for any real tournaments. Just for show really.

I got another bot to show btw. This is Acrophobia. Basic flipper with two beta motors and plenty of power. I used techno wheels to keep it low. This is another real life attempt and not really to competitive. I just try to get the opponent either OOTA or in a unrightable position. some of those spike strips are on the top for damage purposes.

Poor Vlad.

BBEANS 2 eh? Interesting. I wonder which bot it is. I'll check later.

Well anyways, I will be trying to remake Alchemist using DSL parts and try to add a 3rd or 4th disc. We'll see.

I did however remake CoNunDRUM as CoNunDRUM 2 and used a harry pottre motor. Damage has went up a tad.

Here are some pics of the new remake. The I know inside is a little more roomy, but it's pretty tiring trying to slim it down anymore. The Srimech power can be seen through the car flip.

I was also concerned about the battery power myself. What do you use for it?

I have 2 questions about the bot though other than the lifting arm:

1. is the drum high enough off the ground?
2. Are all the Drum pieces connected together or is it 2 separate pairs of drums?

Nice bot there. I like the use of the lifting arm to put the opponent back to the drum just like my bot CoNunDRUM. May I ask what parts were used for the lifting arm?

Yeah, I'm really proud of it. It does just enough to eliminate the opponent. Plus I wanted to build a bot that could be built in real life and this was my best real life attempt.

My next robot is Alchemist VII. This bot has been a project I have been working on since it started as a stock robot about 2 or 3 years ago. The first Three versions were an attempt at a clamp bot like Complete Control of Battlebots fame. I eventually scrapped that idea upon using DSL and tried front spinning discs. This latest version has 2 Hypno-Disc flywheels with those gnarly disc teeth. They both spin inward. The lifting arms act as a srimech while the plow in the back is just to protect the backside. Pretty quick bot and pretty destructive.

Alchemist VII in the flesh

The insides (The srimech uses 2 T-Minus Snappers BTW)

Vs. Behemoth (I love destroying Behemoth BTW)

Overall, Alchemist VII does up to 2500 damage when it hits an opponent. It does so-so against the DSL bots. I have been thinking about adding either a 3rd or even 4th disc to the next version.

@Naryar: I actually used a flatmotor for fear of not having any space. I've been wanting to redo the motors to DSL motors for a while now so I'll give it a try.

@SD: Thanks. I did it with Paint. It took about 2 hours to get all those question marks right. :(

I got some battleshots here. The bot does around 300-700 Damage continuously depending on the position of the opponent. More of a slow grinder to hit the weak spots underneath the bot.

Vs. CRITICAL EMERGENCY

Vs. Gammaraze III

Vs. Behemoth (shows off the flipper pushing Behemoth off)

Really cool bot. It kind of reminds me of Towering Inferno from Battlebots with the gigantic wheels.

@Cuda: OMG! 0_0
Has he ever lost??

Thanks for your opinion. The flipper actually is more of a srimech than an actual weapon, but it does push off the opponent if it gets stuck on top. I never thought of mobility though. I'll try to see if 4WD will be better. Thanks again. :)

Well, I've created quite a few bots on DSL, but only a couple stand out that I would like honest opinions about. Any feedback will be quite helpful.

My first bot is CoNunDRUM. He is a HW Spinning Drum bot with wedges on the front to pop the opponent up into the drum. There is also a flipper on the back that doubles as a srimech. It does pretty darn well against the DSL HWs.

Here's the outside....

And here's the inside....

And a side view of the inside to see the wedges and the weapon motor.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hi, I am also new to this forum. I've had this game for a good 2 or 3 years and I come back to it every now and then. I only really play DSL though because stock is just boring to me. :(
