And I'm quite surprised how it can self-right with that 140cm extender.
It self rights by reversing the spinner so the 140cm extender doesn't get in the way. That extender is there mainly because I had an extra attachment point, some extra weight, and nothing to do with it, but it does help a little with stability.

Trolling Sage with red extenders seems to have gained a rise in popularity recently... was it Dominator of Dragons that started it?
Anyway that bot looks quite impressive. 32 iron spikes is an insane amount of weapons for a VS. However it would probably be better if it had less irons and more protection. There's no way you would lose all 32 spikes before you lost a motor or the chassis.

Is it just me or does that bot resemble an IRL SFTW? Nice replica in any case. Lexan ain't easy to do. Good idea to fake the tank treads like that.

So, I tried to make a MW bear claw VS after seeing TeamXtreemer's LW, but it was plagued with AGOD. After replacing the bear claws with irons, going through several revisions, replacing the irons with razors, and going through several more revisions, I eventually ended up with something completely different than what I was originally building. But it's quite good. I'm not going to be subtle. I'm planning on entering this in Box of Nightmares, because I expect it to be a popup and HS-fest and Red Sky at Morning performs reasonably well against both of those bot types. I'm not sure how it will do against these newfangled one-wheeled axle-mount-stacking 18-mace HS though. Those might be a problem. "But Click, if people know what you're entering won't they enter something that can beat it?" Well perhaps... but if they do, it will probably be a VS (Red Sky is really bad against other VS), which means the tournament will be less of a popup and HS-fest, which will make it more interesting. Either way I get something I want. Oh yes, it has DSA and it can self right.

Cool. You should make some LW anti-SnS. If there is such a thing.

How did you do the lexan effect?
It's a component skinned with a .tga with semitransparency. The broad sides are set at 10% opacity (except for the decals obviously) and the edges are set at 50% so they are more visible.

Took a break from behind the scenes stuff to make a replica. This was going to be my BOTM entry this month but I didn't get it done in time. I was going to make a splash that said "The BOTM entry that is guaranteed to get at least one vote." :P Pics of the real Shish-Kabot can be found in SKBT's thread in Members Robots. Or in his avatar. Also, I recently got an email from one of the guys on the team who built Alcoholic Stepfather, asking if there were any videos of the replica in action. There weren't, but I was quick to remedy that situation: Here you can see a little demo fight between Minion and Alcoholic Stepfather.

The cake is amazing. I just don't understand how it doesn't die with such a big exposed chassis. Unreal!
Well a bigger chassis has more HP, and I'm guessing that thing has 10mm titanium or something.
But still... I agree it's unreal. In round 3, it didn't even lose any Hypno teeth until the last 10 seconds!
The only bot I see being able to easily KO the Cake is Lapshade of Doom. If NFX doesn't make it out of the loser's bracket I think Craaig has a very real shot at the championship.
What about Pummel Bass? That's got a pretty tall set of weapons, even if its wedges do get taken off. I think I only have to worry about whether I run into kill again or not, of if I'm immobilised in some stupid way.
Pummel Bass COULD beat the Cake, but it might not. It could tip over. Lapshade of Doom is the only bot I think would be guaranteed to beat the Cake.

Okay, I quit.
I'm sorry, but I don't want to be embarrassed any further and would rather not have 12 or so more losses added to my record.
You can't do that, it would affect the remaining fights in the final. Even if you don't manage to get any KO's, your bot can still act as a distraction for the other bots which could then get attacked from behind by someone else.
Plus, there's always the possibility (even if it is a remote one) that you could make a bit of a comeback and knock somebody out.

I'm sorry, but four 20cm extenders pointing down =/= shell. That's a disc. That said, it's a very dangerous-looking disc. It has the same number of weapons as some LW FSS. I'd wonder if having only a Piglet made it spin too slow, but if it can beat any NAR AI BW, I'll stop wondering.

Holy carp, that's a lot of chicken drills. It will guzzle batteries like nobody's business but I can see how it would be ridiculously powerful.

What's the point of the top crawler wheels on Ninjutsu? Are the tribars on servos so the chassis can rotate?
I am surprised at how well it moves.

Nice story there, kind of an interesting thought experiment.
...Why do I get the feeling that Alice is thinking the same things that you do?

It's more of a cage spinner than a shell.
But you're right, it's the closest you can get in an AW.
Looks pretty cool, almost like something you'd see in real life.

Embarrass, Minnesota is the coldest place in the state on average. I like to think it got that name because everyone's face turns red from the cold. Or else they're all embarrassed that their ancestors were dumb enough to build a town there.

Yeah I've tried the hammer/HS hybrid... it seems like it should be effective, and I'm sure there's a way to make it good, but it's not as easy as I thought.
Eventually my hammer/HS hybrid turned into a pure hammer and became Cheshire Cat.

The Rupt glitch is extremely finicky. It also doesn't work well with hybrids; you kind of want to make a pure flipper if you're going to use it.
Another way to increase flipper power is to just use more DDTs. With a bigger chassis you could easily fit 4 of them. That will give you good flipping power and it won't make your bot spaz all over the place, so you can still use the popup weapon.
Good space management in that chassis. Looks fairly well planned out. I hate to say it, but in order to build really good bots one of the first things you need to learn to do is rebuild the chassis until it fits everything you need without a lot of empty space.

Resistance doesn't have anything to do with turn speed. It's more like how much the wheel slides. A low resistance means the wheel will 'slide' a lot... think drifting in a car. A wheel with high resistance means the turning will be crisper and more precise. Speed doesn't factor into it.
What this means for SnS is, if you have wheels with higher resistance, the bot will tend to stay in one place more and not drift across the arena. Could be a good thing if you want to avoid hazards, but could be a bad thing if you want to avoid immobility.

Already explained this in a PM. But for this Also is there a way to make the servo pivot less often. At the moment it's shifting about once per 1-2 seconds
you want to increase servoTimer.
