You guys are...... errr... not very realistic. Ian, what was it I missed? If it's the arena idea, then that will take some work. This is special design; a different kind of arena. Just talked with Trov yesterday, and Sage will help (thankfully) and Spyguy will pitch in, I'm sure. It'll get done. Also: -Still finishing GUMBA. -Working on 'Evade' code -had just finished up BOTM(secret though) -Oh yea, real work...

Wham, you now have 2 weeks from today in which to start this tourney. If you don't in this time then it will have to be done by another. (It's a little frustrating on my part, because to facilitate tourneys I've taken the time and effort to build a special arena for each tourney as incentive... (RAW, GUMBA, WRL, 'Gauntlet'(Ian's). The motivation is initially there, but when some 'get into it' and find out that it takes significant time and effort, they tend to not follow through. So it falls into someone else's lap or doesn't happen period. And,..not to mention the guys who took the time to build, tweak and send in their bots....) So, you need to get on top of this and get it going, since it's been 5 months ago that you got the 'ok' for doing this tourney, and posted: Hi Guys. The WRL tournament will soon be underway.

Yep, vids got messed up in WMM converting them...somehow, but still have the originals. So I just re-converted them and will send them to Sage in the morn. CB, I made this arena to Cuda's specs. It is a nice, lowlag arena, with special 'force field' walls as you noticed. They actually push the player back into the action. Some of the LW rammers take advantage of the running start. As for rebulding it, I don't really want to re-make it just for this tourney. It is what it is. Maybe another arena. .

Ok, Ian. I'll try making this arena. Yea, help would be nice for a gauntlet style 'Challenge'(?) arena. Skinners, gmf editors, python tweakers, Skinners, and/or testers...; even help with a cool name for it. This arena shouldn't be too hard. PM me, please whomever can contribute...

Yea, Trov. Sorry I didn't remember your cool find. Was that on the old forum? Very true on the side steering. Bot file editting is the surefire way for getting things where you want them. .

loser bracket : Quickman vs Smackinator (what a name!) hold my breath all the match long. ...Also no offense but i mean... That tournament is a yawn-fest. Huh, this is the way tourneys always are, some mundane, and some down to the wire... -------- Another win just like i expected. However i don't like my chances against Mad. I know that you have Skinhead and have probably tried it against Cataclysm, so you're probably right. But you never know, I'll post it as it happens. .

To all helping with GUMBA......please keep video size down to less than 14 MB (or so) they take WAY to long to load and taking up way too much server space. We're working on that.....

It IS in the 'untouchable' region, where psychopaths and other pill popping psychiatrists lurk.... ACAMS has the best idea.... If it's a special non-competition bot, you can do allot in the........bot file:shock:. I have some freaky shaped bots, pyramid bots, star bots, invisible chassis bots, and Goose has a real cool donut-shaped bot with a hole in the middle. CB also just modded a bot for DSL3 in the bot file,... so there are many options in editing it. .

Thanks SB, didn't notice. Then this may be a bear to AI. Thus, I'd like to try it, Nar. Your call. PM me or whatever is easier.

Urj: I suspected, but didn't bother to check it out. I just looked superficially, that the shadow has a consistent light source (very angled from the right) for: the stadium shadow, the spectators' faces, the matador, and the bull. The bull's shadow is somewhat blocked at its head because of the dirt flying. So it passed the primal testing. I don't have PS on my online comp, and I didn't really care to look into that deep anyway. So you may be right, but .....work, writing, family, GUMBA, bbeans?(not going there...hehe),.....

I like your little 'sayings', Hydro. But I don't get the pics either...if you care to explain... ----------------- Thought this was an interesting pic. Usually it's the person that gets toppled: .

Was that AI-ed? If not then I'd like to try to AI it.... Assumuning AI: The coding tells the bot to 'step on the gas' when it's heading is toward the enemy. It looks like this bot spins until it's pointed toward the enemy and then goes forward(though the spinmotor torque steers it off-heading a bit). It did better than one would initially think. Interesting bot. When you've time could you do another vid with F2 cam.

that is a really cool looking design :-D... how do you steer something like that ? With the spinner's recoil. Could you explain more, Nar. Efficiently designed, offensively. Couple questions: -Weapons: Wouldn't the chassis spin around....allot; instead of the weaponry? -Navigation: Would seem to be tuff to get 'controlled (chassis) movement' based upon the spinmotor's torque on the chassis; esp under high torque situations (when the tribar is spinning up or hitting an enemy/wall). Do you have a vid?

Well things happen (hope this guy's wearing some protection...): Didn't make the turn: -------- Thanks for the pics, SG. They're worth allot of words... .

I like Cataclysm a lot. (Image removed from quote.) Hehe. All: Be patient on the Reier/H@z vid. It'll be up shortly. Thanks. .

And how do these challengers appear ? The Challenging AI are individually partitioned off and kept from even approaching the Contestant bot,... until the defeat of the previous bot(s). Then the partition is removed. Technically, if that's what you're asking, it's done with python controlled gmf objects (like the inserted and removed gmf objects in the practice garage). BTW: All of these bots would fight on the same turf w/o any arena obstacles or hazards. The Contestant bot has only the challenge of defeating those 3 AIs, one after another. Overall, I think your idea is good, Ian. I'll get back with you later about this arena. BTW2: When you have a congruent plan together, don't forget to run this by ACAMS. ..

Looks nice, Sage. What AI.py did you use to run it? I have a couple FS/Rammers, but they do not have the time invested in them like this bot does. Got vid? .

So it's like a Pentathlon for your bot. The same bot competes in all challenges. Sounds interesting. I don't know if this would work for one of your ideas, Ian. Spyguy and I had thought up a "Challenge Arena" where your own bot would face 1, 2, or all 3 AI bots; but individually/1 at a time. The weight classes would be up to you. After/If your bot defeated the first AI, only then would it move on to the next AI... and so on. How far your bot gets totally is up to your bot's aptitude. Obviously if the AI's are more than one, then their weight class should be lighter than yours: say your entry bot was HW, then if 2 challengers, then thye should be 2 MWs; if 3 then they should all be LW (or mix them... MW at first, and final bot is LW). But you get the idea... What do you think? .

I don't think that Sol is living in France (via IP address), just thought he might be French. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sol: Go into the UI/teamhq folder, and find the file 'hq_league.gib'. Duplicate it for a back-up. -------------- Then, open up the 'hq_league.gib' with Notepad++. >Look for line 642: "_ForeColor 0.3 0.23 0.51 1" (change only first three numbers) >The colors are set as R G B ( Red Green Blue). >Parameters for each color are between 0 and 1. I.e.: 0 0 0 = black 1 1 1 = white 1 0 0 = Red(full). 0.4 0 0 = Red(softer). 0.5 0 0.5 = purple. 0.3 0.2 0.5 = gray ------------------- Now, change line 642 to alter the purple background to the color you want as follows: It's not difficult; you can do it. Any questions, just ask. ---------------------------------- BTW, while we're here... If you want to change the individual team slots background color, then do this in line 613: If you want to make your own name appear 'in-game', then do the following in line 107 (name limit of 8-10 characters): ------------ It's fairly easy, just be careful of spacing. If you look around, there's much more that you can do too. .

Edited statement: Enough demanding on this, guys. Tourney's are a tremendous amount of work. There is no demanding here,..from either side. Wait to hear from CB. Discussion and suggestions concerning grievances are fine, but nothing more... It's CB's donated efforts for the community. I also relate. I didn't have time to get one in either (cause of Cuda's GUMBA stuff) thinking the deadline was the end of the month,... but he also did warn several times of (1) the ever lessening slots available, and (2) "I wouldn't hold my breath" concerning the tourney expanding to 64. So, it is what it is. He'll be fair.
