Funny you should mention the direction of the razors. You see, I've tried Pys' theory of "two faces hitting instead of one," but I think that it's nothing more than wishful thinking. In fact, I've tried switching the direction of the razors on R4 and found that the extenders become much more vulnerable, and in turn, effectiveness plummets.

The first thing I've actually ROFL'ed at in about a year. Well played, CB.

They're not attached to the DDT's - they're just on basplate anchors (with a little bit of stacking).

LDL used FBSPlus (as Naryar said) which is what he opted to use for this heat.. I actually blame his success on the FBS/ FBSPlus strategy.

So do I!  I was expecting Kheper to get knocked around and not be able to do any damage, but I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition!

(Spanish Inquisition = getting my back armor which I thought wouldn't get hit ripped off and my chassis destroyed.)

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition! Now... the Rack!

If I beat S32's slippery undercutter, I get Somebody. I'm really not too thrilled about the prospect of having to face some sweet AI'ing and Hell's Hammers early on.

Schizoid's biggest problem might be the fact that if it catapults itself and the opponent OOTA, I lose because I'm on the bottom. It should be fun though :D

OH GOD NO! 6 kg underweight! I'm going to die of robo-anorexia!

And no, no smiley. Sorry.

But seriously, ON. FIRE.

DSA. Only 1 black. I'm happy with this one. The castors prevent it from bouncing around, and the chassis is air tight as your mom.
All I wanted to really do was to make an FS with chassis mounted Redbirds, since you rarely see them due to their odd shape. It's much better than I thought it would be in preliminary testing.

DSA, 3 blacks, 4 ramplates, 14 DDT razors. The purpose of this one was to make the best wedges I could, so I made a natural popup or a true popup or a real popup or whatever the heck Naryar thinks it is. I hereby will refer to it as simply a popup. The wedges are quite good, consistently sliding under NWB and all other Starcore v4.0 bots. It's damaging too, though not quite as much as R4.

Whatcha guys think?

They have their own language?

Not really. It's just beer + inbreeding + butchered English :P

Are you going to enter BBEANS 6?

Seriously, what is that? I dont know.

*Prepared for embarrasment*

BBEANS is the biggest tournament out there, run by one of the admins and general all-round-awesome-builder, Clickbeetle

Now i'm instantly hooked. How do I join?

If you have an afternoon or an evening to burn, I suggest watching the previous tourneys. You can see the designs that have had sucess in the past, and you also get a little bit of a crash-course on some RA2 history.

As for the batteries, Clickbeetle found out that amps aren't the most important factor in how the batteries preform. Basically, long in short, ant batteries are infinitely better than anything else in DSL.

Ahh, this tourney is win as usual, JB.

IMO, Heat 2 is going to be waaaaaaaaay tougher than Heat 1. I'd consider getting out of my bracket to be a sucess :O

Reier, there are six...

Also, piglets for drive make Naryar cry. I suggest changing them unless you want to se him RAGE at you.

Oh, and there is no such thing as a "final" version. Ever.

EDIT: Too late.

Damn you're good. That's right.

I'm finished skinning my Stock's Revenge entry. I might post it, but I'm sending it right now.

To do that, I would have had to rotate the snapper 180 degrees and lower it by a notch or two. If I did that, I wouldn't have been able to mount the weapons or the ramplate.

In other words, that's not it :P

Chatterbox / Re: Pancakes vs Waffles
« on: February 20, 2010, 03:41:24 AM »
A good waffle is much better than a good pancake. Waffles are nice and crispy, sweet, and have a fun shape. They even hold syrup/toppings better!

Although I can't argue on crispiness, pancakes are also nice, sweet and have fun shapes (I've had Mickey Mouse, Maple Leaf and triangular pancakes just to name a few). Pancakes, though, are better all-around because they are tastier than waffles with nothing more that buttermilk or maple syrup, and you can also make pancake-burritos (which are awesome, by the way) if you have strawberries and whipped cream or other toppings laying around.

I can see Naryar entering this with something along the lines of: "Sacre bleu! Ou sont les crepes!?" (Excuse my god-awful French)

JB: Thanks. I'm also really pleased how it turned out, asthetically speaking. How it does in combat is still up in the air.

Pwn: No you don't :P As far as I know, this is the first time that either myself or anyone else has used this particular setup (well, on a showcased bot anyways).

Keep those comments coming :D

Just a little something to breathe some life into here...

I re-vamped Skrzak. I haven't done much testing yet, but this version seems less prone to havoks than the old one, and it also has a ramplate instead of a snowplow in order to return some of the damage that it takes. The bottom pic is just in case you're wondering how the razor is attached:

Also, my Stock's Revenge entry is just undergoing some final tweaking, so I should have that ready to go soon as well :D

EDIT: Forgot to say, it has DSA, Redbird drive, and is my first bot (ever) to have a c-board stacked in a black :D
