Grrrrrr..... only you would notice that in the 20 seconds that it was up before I edited it. *shakes fist* EDIT: Sooo... yeah... as S_M pointed out on the next post... I am dragging this showcase into off topic land. Here is some more advice ^-^ Don't click on any of the armor selections when you build a chassis... if you leave it alone you will get DSA armor (that means Double Strength Aluminum). It is Super-Effective. Charizard go! ![]() 943

Hahahaha That thing is a beast! XD
There is tons of advice to give... My tidbit is that you should try your best to build with components outside the chassis and keep the chassis as small as possible. Think of the chassis as the heart of your robot. Once the heart is destroyed the bot is done... but components can be destroyed and the bot can still soldier on and fight. Keeping things like your drive motors and weapon motors outside the chassis is actually a good idea (for RA2 at least. I know it is not realistic at all... but that is how the game is in terms of being effective.) These rules do not apply to popup bots though... you will learn about those later. General Support / Re: AI pack help« on: May 25, 2011, 06:52:18 PM »
I am going to try my hand at this in explaining the reasoning behind the instructions.
When you download packs for RA2 they overwrite existing RA2 files and modify the game. So, essentially, you can have several different copies of RA2 on your computer, but each one can have its own unique mod for it. You might be getting mixed up because I don't think that anyone has explained that in order to add the pack to RA2 you should just add it to a separate complete copy of RA2 on your computer. You already have RA2 stock on your computer. Cool, leave that one alone and remember where it is installed on your computer. In order to install this pack you need to extract it and dump it into a totally new fresh copy of RA2 on your computer. Each copy of RA2 you have on your computer will function independently and will only load the files that are associated with the folder it is contained within. There really isn't any need to download RA2 again if you have a functioning copy of it on your computer. In fact, if your stock copy of RA2 is working fine... locate the master folder for RA2 on your computer. Right click on the folder and select copy. Go to your desktop and right click on your desktop and select paste. This will make a complete copy of RA2 for you to mod. It will be independent from your original copy. Follow the steps that everyone has given you but dump all the folders into the Desktop copy of RA2 that you just made. Say yes to overwriting all the files and then when it is done you can open that folder and play that game like normally would. Your stock version on your computer will remain the same, but you will have a SECOND game on your desktop that you can launch and play. If you decide to download another pack, please repeat the process and make another copy of RA2 from your stock folder (that way that one doesnt get screwed up and you can use that as the foundation for your other copies of RA2 on your computer) Just remember, for each mod you install, you should have a fresh full copy of stock to add it to. For example, I have 6 copies of RA2 on my computer... each game has its own mod or pack. I build bots within each of them, but they are all independent from each other. hope this helps some. 951

Caster armor isn't a hidden component. :P
or, do you mean that people cant use hidden components AND also caster armor is banned as well? 952

If you could somehow centralize it so that the motors are inwards (as well as the extenders) and the hammers are outward providing side clouds of protection... it would be better.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Animated gif maker?« on: May 24, 2011, 08:10:51 PM »Gimp works. Make a layered image, with each layer being an animation frame. ctrl+l to view layers (also to make sure you aren't just overwriting the old layer) then save as a GIF and click "save as animation" when prompted. Dude that is awesome. You just gave me a reason to play with Gimp. 955

Why square extenders? You should use the hidden long extender. (or whatever that thing is called) :3
