Hydro, I'm visiting my parents out west, on a periodic 'dial-up' connection.... Like SSG said, diagnose by switching to different bots; if no change then different arenas; and thus see which avenue the problem follows...

Naughty, naughty info....:-D

It can't actually 'shock' another bot unless it utilizes coding written in the arena.py or an AI.py. But it can do concussion and peircing; and along with an 'electric' sounding wav file, it might look pretty cool.

Venko, if Pys' post on your thread were out of context/spam, then I would leave yours here likewise. But, as I explained, he was only responding to your PM to him about your claims..... ad infinitum.

Nice monster truck. Well, ACAMS made the nice Jeep body; Serge enabled the axle tweeking; I edited the gmf to lower the axles, and also the bot file to make the chassis invisible(while in-game). It is a bit top heavy, but it has cool springy suspension and all 4 wheels move together for realistic turning. May even write a py to AI it as an autonomous monster truck, ..in all my spare time. If you would like it let me know. Back to GIBS: Here's what I was thinking for a BotLab screen for DSL-3. With the main '3d Window' much larger, the pixel jump/gap decreases and makes it easier for precision placement. And longer 'Components' window (at the top of the screen) is for easier selection without scrolling. Just a rough sketch of the BotLab screen layout: The smaller buttons, component preview window, and such can be placed in other places than where I put them here. The large 3d and Component selection windows are the point. I should also post this over on the DSL-3 thread... Any thoughts are appreciated? .

A couple times, you almost got under him though, Urj. Nice try though. It's a tough bot.

Yea, Venko. But thanks. I did a big chunk of the GIB work on the 2.1 patch. I.e.: In the place where you repair the bots between Event matches, I increased in size of the primary visual 3d window and moved other parts around to facilitate the larger window. And in my own versions I also increased the size of the window in the BotLab for stacking and help precision placement: I had to reduce the 'Components Selection' windows though; as you can see. (The yellow lines were just waymarkers, I never bothered to remove.) Thanks for the input though. .

Urj, your drive motors are not strong enough to control your bot, against the torque of the spinner assembly. Check the wheels too. In this vid, the bot has a colored dot on the front of the chassis. I pointed the nose forward at start, but it doesn't stay that way.... Look: https://gametechmods.com/?do=ra2ube&ACT=video&id=Urjaks_spinner So, you'll have to tweak it a bit..... . (Didn't forget you, ACAM's....).

PM me the bot, Urj, so I can understand a bit better what's what.

IMO, the rules are what they are. If it can 'control' itself then we cannot complain because Sage stayed within the designated parameters. As SC and ACAMS pointed out this is the way the game has and will continue to go. And I'd like to also factor in new and improved AI.py and Tactics that do/will contribute to the advancement of the game. .

Been way too busy to check this thread in a while... Ian: That arena is definitely do-able. Wham: Your idea is do-able too, as we discussed. If you guys want help from me, then I need some help from you and/or the community. I just do not have the time to invest in these things. Mainly gmf and py, but also skinning help. PM or post any volunteers you find. .

I just built a sick saw bot but it crashed while i was wiring so it will be a while before i built i again. Thought i would let you know. I don't know if there's a way to get it back 'together' when that happens,... although once in a great while it does it by itself. When constructing and tweaking MadBeaver's Tank servos, it did this, and I had just previously saved the bot in-tact. So I renamed the glitch bot and saved it. Then compared its bot file to the bot file of the still in-tact bot. But I could see no difference in the bot file. If the glitch is not stored in the bot file, then I, myself don't know how to fix it. That's where all of the bot info is stored. I think that certain 'component combos' have a propensity to do this. Obviously many glitches we use for custom attaching exploit this phenomenon of certain parts going out of there right positions. So perhaps there's a threshold/point of no-return for Havok. Maybe one of the other vets have looked into this. Nice bot, Sage. .

Actually, it doesnt matter what kind of question/answer system we have. Well made spambots just find the correct answer from the system database. Altough it is good to have something like that since many spambots cant do this. You hit on the head one of the main inherent problems... It really depends on how much time+effort the spambot's author(s) have put into it. .

Well, the label bore "XXXXXX.jpg", but either it was an exe or had a link to a site. I closed it ASAP. Can't provide more info since it was a quick glance only, because it began 'executing'...

RedlineM203 commented I'm... kinda finding it laughable people are falling for it. Red, once Sage got the bug, it then sent an IM to me from him with the above mentioned jpg files and 2 smileys. It looked exactly like Sage put them there for me to D/L whenever I found them..... So it's not like it's that obvious for some parties involved (i.e. some foreign link, to a website or exe or xxx.xxx.xxx, or such). DH asked: Is Windows live messenger MSN? Yes. .
