Tournament Archives / Re: GTM Robot Wars Series 1

I would highly doubt that flamethrowers will be allowed.

Wham's looking for more 'British' Robot Wars style designs, and Robot Wars never allowed flamethrowers. I can imagine he'd keep it the same way here.

Anyway, I'm throwing my hat in the ring for support of this tournament. The first DSL3 tournament could be a lot of fun, and to any doubting it's success (*cough* Jonzu *cough*), I'm willing to bet Wham knows what he's doing here. He's done fine work so far.
BOB? Sgt Bash?

Hmm.. maybe you aren't powering the bursts with enough batteries?

Still, move the burst up and back a little (if you can). Yeah, weapons do have normals and you can't just put something on something and assume it'll do damage, I'm glad you understand that. However, if you fiddle around with the positioning or angling of a weapon component, you can get it to do damage, normals or not. You could probably put a couple of spike strips on that 2nd flippermaker you have there and angle it so that when a bot drives up your wedge, they'll run into that and do damage.

Also, if you're doing this for BB7, you don't even need to use weapons. If your bot survives a match against another bot, Domination is pretty much the determining factor of a win or loss, which means as long as you're constantly flipping the other bot you're doing pretty well.

You still can't get extender work right... fine I'll help

The rear extender work can be replaced by one 40cm skirt or maybe 2. You flipping arm is also too long.

also the judge burst is not only a cheat piece it is also far too powerful for a LW.

Any other motor is far too weak to lift anything...
because you keep putting crap on your flipper. Use a green burst, take off the beaters because they look ugly and they're messing up your flipper's strength and goddammit naryar Judge bursts are used very often in IRL building, even in LW divisions, though it's not really necessary.

The beater bars aren't there for looks, they're there so that Riptide can actually do some form of damage, and I doubt I have enough spare weight to add another green.

And was wondering about that, does Massimo allow Judge bursts in LW's?
Yeah, I knew that but there are better ways of making a flipper do damage, if your flipper is good enough it doesn't even need to do damage and I meant replace the judge with a green.

And yeah, Massimo allows judge bursts in LW's and I'm sure many IRL LW tournaments allow them too. But don't just use judge bursts because "other motors are too weak"

Edit: As for more aesthetics and maybe even some efficiency, raise the burst (not sure if you could do this with a green) a little and angle your flipper downwards. It should look a little better and flip a little better too.

Yep. I came.

Try using a disk on that second bot if you wanna use those teeth; might look better.

I actually find this offensive because I don't like a single one of the things in that picture.
Guns? Mountain Dew? God? The color green?

I know Pewds did a playthrough of it but I've yet to watch that.

It's multiplayer? Could you maybe put up a hamachi server for it?

That obv. is not the final skin for Sir Lance-a-Frog, sorry if I was unclear when I posted the image

This, however, is the final skin for the 4th BB6 'update', SUPER KOMODO

(Image removed from quote.)

Arms are improved, self-rights, middle spike strip pumps up and down when another bot is on top. Faster, Harder, Better, Stronger.

A battle between these two. It needs to happen.

I personally don't like it... but it doesn't have a suiting skin yet and I'll probably love it after it does

Updated Storm, decided to name it Hurricane 2 instead. Do I need all these extenders though? Backlash didn't need this much support.

(Image removed from quote.)

(Image removed from quote.)
You would have a point, but Backash looks like it uses a motor with a belt (like a perm) or something similar and doesn't need as much support as one giant motor just there, and it's also a Lightweight.

Considering the fact that you do have one bigass motor just hanging off of the chassis I think that's fair enough for support.

looks too DSLS for me

I can just see (irl) the weapons having so much torkz that when they hit one thing the entire weapon just shears off its own supports, it's so stupidly flimsy and skeletal. I don't think you'll be able to come up with a setup that makes the whole concept of the bot even minimalistically IRL.

You could make the case that it's like Nightmare or The Contender or even Hazard is close enough to the concept of the bot, but let's take a look at those three; Nightmare (even though its many disk malfunctions) is usually sturdy enough to spin up to full speed and take a huge chunk out of something and keep spinning. The Contender (SKBT's BB6 bot iirc) looks big and bulky and sturdy and more than strong enough to use the weapon that it has, and Hazard (or Last Rites even) does deal out strong hits and take the damage that it does and is sturdy enough to use its bar, but you gotta remember its bar is oriented horizontally and when it hits something the entire bot gets jolted the opposite way, and I can see something similar happening to this bot. Which leads me back to my first sentence; if something like this were to deal and take a force like that, it would tear off its own weapon and weapon support.

I'm not sure what you can do to improve it.

I do believe you need a 'whip': binding entry like in Whipper.py but I may be mistaken.

also you'd better pick a motor that has limited rotation axles, or mod the npc so that it has. This one is gonna cut your bot in two, hence not realistic.
the theory is that the floor will stop the hammer from cutting the bot in two when it swings forward and then backwards, so that shouldn't be a problem.
what happens when it gets flipped over
im posting autistic again pls dnt hurt me

That's why I said 'the theory'. It stops being IRL once it gets flipped. And besides, doesn't that make...

unrealistic?

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: What country do you come from? *POLL*
« on: May 19, 2013, 11:22:05 AM »
It always has baffled me... is Great Britain an actual country? I thought it was a bunch a countries that are in the same region. It also upsets me that they compete in the olympics combined when smaller countries don't have that privilege.

Anywho I'm from Australia.

So I was correct? Either way they should be competing as single countries not as a group, or perhaps the USA could compete with all countries from the south american continent and compete under the name of America  :dumb) .
The UK is one country, just because it has constituent countries, doesn't deny its political status as a single entity. Funny how we compete as GB though, as Great Britain is just the main island lol.
The UK and US are similar in this way; on paper every state of the US could be it's own country (self governing and whatnot) but we're united by the federal branches of government. You guys (England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales) are all united by the royal family and parliament (I might be wrong there) excluding Northern Ireland (again I might be wrong there)

Mazakari: metal hinge=poor show

why did you accepted metal hinges in battlebots 6 then ?
Cause sometimes it can work. Like if FOTEPX hadn't had them on Toriodore it would look a little awkward.
Can you start filming the other matches before you get playzooki's update?
There's also the point that he said metal hinges were poor sportsmanship, and not "shouldn't be allowed"
Me?
Yeah. you didn't say they shouldn't be allowed, you just said they were poor sportsmanship (poor show)
