Sometimes the exe doesn't go to an exact folder to look for a certain file. When it loads, it scans more broadly than you'd think, and the first file it runs across with the correct name it loads. I don't know the parameters within which the exe looks for files, or certain kinds of files, but I know for sure it does this 'broad searching'. You probably have other versions of RA2 or other arenas with that file name or what ever... but it's finding the other xxxx.bmp before the one you moded. If I were you, I'd just take and re-name the arena giving it and sub files new, exclusive names, and then you will never load another file with the same name, because there's only one. If you want help, I can show you how to do it (only take a couple mins).

That's cool Phil, nice work. Yea, how about a vid? I experimented with something like this 'specific weapon at specific servo angle'. It was called 'InferNo-Way'. It had the weapons at 3.14 radians from one another. On one side the main weapon was 10 flame throwers, that would take the life out of the opponent real quickly. When the life of the opponent reached < .1, the servo would turn the flames away and instead point a dozen or so piston-mounted pointy tip arrows at the wounded enemy and easily finish him off (usually) in one stroke. Can you expound a bit more on some detail about your cool bot here...

You can just move the AP away from the small geomobject....(in the gmf).

Ok. Didn't know I was leaving any doggy-doo lurking behind. (Actually I didn't know if 'Deleting' the user, also remove him totally, including the 'Banned' list [enabling a return]. NP, thanks.)

Huh... I thought I banned that guy yesterday. And then I deleted that whole thread. Did I forget something and leave a foot in the door? .

Welcome, Apanx. Nice to see you around. Looking forward to discussing some new py tweaks that are presently being working on by some here. (and I'll appropriate your title) Guys: Apanx is not a noob, by any means. He was on the old forum for quite a while. He is very good with Python and has contributed significantly to this game. (I referenced him for some of his work already on this thread.) .

The chassis up in the air is unique. Makes for a bit higher CG though. These are cool ideas, Phil. You're inspiring me again,... if I had the time.

LRA2, 1. Try to look up subjects before you make a new thread; if you can't find it, then we'll help you, no prob. 2. Now that you know how to take pics of your bots, start your own showcase thread (Stock or DSL), and show your bots. You'll get good advice from many here. .

Smart Zones are variously shaped transparent, non-collision objects, specifically placed on a bot, so that when its area is violated by another bot, it will trigger a weapon, motor, piston, etc... .

That IS the final objective. Shouldn't be a problem. BTW, you might give at your discretion a 'version #' to this doc., so that when it is updated people can know that they have the latest info.

Nice Phil. Thanks for continuing the work. Just a couple thoughts Phil: -When you explain Analog commands you might show the parameters are "0-100" (not between 0-1 like a switch). -You might also utilize the 'Nose' correction chart I wrote (and posted above in this thread). (Maybe also: explain 'radians') -There are more AI.py than I listed in this document, that should be added eventually, like FBS_1 and FBS_2. -SOW though more involved should probably be put up as an option for more experienced members. Thanks again for your help. Been too busy to breathe, myself. .

Interesting, CB. What AI.py are you using to run it?... or a custom one? Is the swing-arm strong enough? I'm wrestling to see how it exactly works. If you have the time, a short vid would be worth a lot of words...

Eish: If they are both in the Components foder, then it must work. So I'll catch you on MSN,... later today is fine with me. Let me know or just try me later. SSG: for the effort to help.

-I haven't talked with DarkRat since last summer, I think. So I don't know lately. -FB; you'd have to ask CB. But I do know that he helped figure out a couple more python tweaks, which I find very useful. .

All of the last 3 arena suggestions are do-able. The problem is the time involved to build them. Click/FB could if they had time. And I just don't have the time right now. Ian and Wham are the next in line to be done, whenever I get an open slot. Duck was diving into arena building; you might hit him up.... .

I didn't open the cfz of the AU 1.1 tweak. So I don't know which txts are there, or if you want any other than DieSector. I am only answering the issue about DieSector. Both the component file "diesector" and the 3 txts, go in c:....\Infogrames\Robot Arena 2\Components (and no deeper). This WILL work. I don't know if you're still using the AU tweak for other things, so I can't tell you about the rest of what you have. But understanding the above you can figure it out yourself. If you've more than DieSector problems, then IM me on MSN. .

Go into your 'Sounds and Audio Devices' and to 'Audio' tab, and then adjust the volume down quite a bit. The problem is that the sound is already amplified and not 'line-in', so you have to turn the volume way down to avoid over-amplification(distortion).
