As (secretly) said in plazmic's showcase, here's two new bots to finish my NAR AI entry: If you have nothing better than to pour irrational hatred on a bot type on a new guy's showcase, especially with such a poor reason, and not contribute to the topic, I suggest you stop posting here, or things will go badly for you. Am I clear ?
What's that you say ? "Popups are generic and overdone" ? I haven't seen much popups these days, mind you.
Also, saying that a bot type is generic is nonsense. There is much variety inside a bot type, actually there is as much variety as the collective imagination of the community in regard to that bot type. The fact that popups tend to be built generic is that because builders are not thinking outside the box enough with popups, not that the bot type in itself is "unoriginal". You want popups to be original ? Go and build original popups instead of whining that they are generic.
the only type of popup in DSL which is isn't explored enough is....... a piston popup(Insectoid style popup). so, here's a piston popup: Midnight Destiny have 6 razors on a storm piston, 4 ants, and a big Puma. the bot's armor is Ti3 and it's weight(with smartzone) is 398.1 kgs, and it can get under PC5 consistenly And the second bot is a generic FSS: Midnight Ideology have 10 flail razors and 2 ds light teeth, 2 ants, Ti1 armor, and the bots weight is 248.2 kgs. This bot is pretty much the ending to LW FSS, other attempts to LW FSSes will be a clone of either this, Rujaks(Urjak), or pwns. Comments are very Appreciated.

smoke on the water 3's pitiful performance in 2 tribes has prompted me to rebuild it: (Image removed from quote.) same insides as the original but with steel 3 armour
i think you can use a skirt hinge to attach both motors, but i'm not sure if the reach will get any better.
what you are saying will save him 1kg which he wont be able to use for anything and will cause havoks like there's no tomorrow. and it will bounce around like crazy
you think?: btw, i'm going to post 2 new bots soon in my showcase

just a little thing i've been working on
(Image removed from quote.)
Just testing out a weapon motor setup, although there's still a couple of improvements to be made. And as usual, metal hinges refuse to cooperate so I'm down to BSG wedges which can't even get under my old bots.
I thought burst motor wedges where heavier but better. That's what it said on the wiki. Maybe a flipper segment with a small wedge?
not always, occasionally metal hinge wedges win against burst motor wedges.(look at my battle against Aeon in Two Tribes for example).

Right, here's Scrapheap. Its way better than the piece of scrap I started with.
(Image removed from quote.)
I wanted to ask for the best flipper motor. The JX burst looks quite powerful.
First of all, before even giving you any advice, please make your bot pictures bigger(i can barely see them) Now, advices and advices: 1. for the weapon, just use a 20cm polycarbonate(or aluminium), then attch the razors to it, and then when it's filled, attach another 20cm extender next to it(here's an example): 2.Use hypno-discs wheel, they'll give you faster movement speed and lower ground clearance(which equals to a better wedge) 3.Put external armor(which is a 30kg titanium sheet(or a 40cm or 80 cm steel/titanium skirt) attached to a skirt hinge, see the above bot on how do you attach it. 4.Use either 5mm Plastic or 3mm Titanium(they're the most practical armor in the MW class) i'll let the ones who are better than my in popuptry tell you more advices. nary will obviously rep me down again because of thisAnd finaly, read this guys showcase: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,1988.600.html

HOLY MOTHER LOOK AT THAT AGOD *********
That's a cool build right there. Wanna send another team for NAR AI ?
I could do, but that'll mean 30 bots to AI and send. Eeek. I hope ty and his laziness get eaten by crocodiles.
you cloned my bot: am i right?

(like the 100th time)
If I haven't done it by now, maybe it's just that I like the shape of a larger 'bot?
Also, if the chassis was lower, the weapon couldn't be as big.
no, because that bot looks awkward with that shape, and oh, center the weapon so it'll look more IRL.

Potential RA2 Olympics HW entry?
Based on Critical Reaction's chassis design, with weapon inspiration from The Alien and IG-88.
Probably my most destructive bot so far, by a long shot. (That's not me saying it's actually any good though. )
Lower the chassis(like the 100th time), use a DSL Bar for the Hammers connectors, cause this is IRL you'll need some brackets and supports for the weapon, and what drive?

Dude there's no 'technique' to this. Just eyeball everything at first and just shrink until it fits.
i'm just showing you how to eyeball the chassis faster with movepixel.

Before you even dare to try this, get this: https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,6845.0.htmlfirst. Already got it? continue reading. 1. Make a rough shape off what you wanna build, then after the first component(which is placed flush to the wall), for the next component afterwards, place it right next to the component before it. Count the amount of pixels the component needed to hit the wall or other components, and remember it, cause you will need it for the next step. 2. Go to the chassis design tab, and then on the board, shrink the chassis down the opposite way the component moves on step 1(move upward-shrink chassis downward, move downward-shrink chassis upward, NOTE: if the component moves either left or right on step 1 (on a box shaped chassis)divide the pixel needed by half and then shrink both left and right of chassis the half of the pixel needed) and then, adjust chassis height the same as before, pick armor, and then redo the entire component placement once again. 3.Rinse and repeat step 1&2 until either the chassis is airtight, or until you hit the minimum chassis shape limit.) Final note: i'm sorry if you guys already know this technique before.

Either you can or you can't. Luck's always involved in metal hinge wedges (same thing with axles), unlike skirt hinges or burst motors.
btw, if i make the wedge narrower, will it make the wedge worse?(right now, opponents can just out-wedge me by using the huge gap in the middle.)
