DSL TC Showcases / Re: Suede's DSL Showcase« on: July 28, 2012, 04:48:43 AM »
As (secretly) said in plazmic's showcase, here's two new bots to finish my NAR AI entry:
the only type of popup in DSL which is isn't explored enough is....... a piston popup(Insectoid style popup). so, here's a piston popup: ![]() Midnight Destiny have 6 razors on a storm piston, 4 ants, and a big Puma. the bot's armor is Ti3 and it's weight(with smartzone) is 398.1 kgs, and it can get under PC5 consistenly ![]() And the second bot is a generic FSS: ![]() Midnight Ideology have 10 flail razors and 2 ds light teeth, 2 ants, Ti1 armor, and the bots weight is 248.2 kgs. This bot is pretty much the ending to LW FSS, other attempts to LW FSSes will be a clone of either this, Rujaks(Urjak), or pwns. Comments are very Appreciated. 883
DSL TC Showcases / Re: plazmic infernos dsl showcase« on: July 28, 2012, 04:39:42 AM »you think?:what you are saying will save him 1kg which he wont be able to use for anything and will cause havoks like there's no tomorrow. and it will bounce around like crazysmoke on the water 3's pitiful performance in 2 tribes has prompted me to rebuild it:i think you can use a skirt hinge to attach both motors, but i'm not sure if the reach will get any better. ![]() btw, i'm going to post 2 new bots soon in my showcase 884

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Pwnator's Top-Notch DSL Showcase« on: July 27, 2012, 10:26:05 AM »not always, occasionally metal hinge wedges win against burst motor wedges.(look at my battle against Aeon in Two Tribes for example).just a little thing i've been working on 888
DSL TC Showcases / Re: Mush's Robot Showcase« on: July 27, 2012, 04:10:25 AM »Right, here's Scrapheap. Its way better than the piece of scrap I started with.First of all, before even giving you any advice, please make your bot pictures bigger(i can barely see them) Now, advices and advices: 1. for the weapon, just use a 20cm polycarbonate(or aluminium), then attch the razors to it, and then when it's filled, attach another 20cm extender next to it(here's an example): ![]() 2.Use hypno-discs wheel, they'll give you faster movement speed and lower ground clearance(which equals to a better wedge) 3.Put external armor(which is a 30kg titanium sheet(or a 40cm or 80 cm steel/titanium skirt) attached to a skirt hinge, see the above bot on how do you attach it. 4.Use either 5mm Plastic or 3mm Titanium(they're the most practical armor in the MW class) i'll let the ones who are better than my in popuptry tell you more advices. nary will obviously rep me down again because of this And finaly, read this guys showcase:https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,1988.600.html 889

DSL TC Showcases / Re: Merrick's Attempts At 'Realistic' DSL« on: July 21, 2012, 09:51:54 AM »no, because that bot looks awkward with that shape, and oh, center the weapon so it'll look more IRL.(like the 100th time) 897

Discussion / How to Make An Airtight Chassis Quickly And Effectively« on: July 21, 2012, 05:36:32 AM »
Before you even dare to try this, get this:https://gametechmods.com/forums/index.php/topic,6845.0.htmlfirst. Already got it? continue reading.
1. Make a rough shape off what you wanna build, then after the first component(which is placed flush to the wall), for the next component afterwards, place it right next to the component before it. ![]() Count the amount of pixels the component needed to hit the wall or other components, and remember it, cause you will need it for the next step. 2. Go to the chassis design tab, and then on the board, shrink the chassis down the opposite way the component moves on step 1(move upward-shrink chassis downward, move downward-shrink chassis upward, NOTE: if the component moves either left or right on step 1 (on a box shaped chassis)divide the pixel needed by half and then shrink both left and right of chassis the half of the pixel needed) and then, adjust chassis height the same as before, pick armor, and then redo the entire component placement once again. ![]() 3.Rinse and repeat step 1&2 until either the chassis is airtight, or until you hit the minimum chassis shape limit.) ![]() ![]() Final note: i'm sorry if you guys already know this technique before. |
