The erector set bar was probably unbalanced. In small bots, saws make decent weapons. Even seen 'em put to good use in 12/15lbers.
In other thoughts, I got the 260z running today. It needed a new battery. Now it cranks up real easy. Need to tweak the thing a bit to drop the idle rpm, but it's running. 863

Unless the beater is very oddly designed, the shaft/shaft holes can't be done on a waterjet. Whyachi can make and harden whatever you want 'em to, and they do real high quality work.

Probably having the Whyachis do it. It won't be cheap, but it'll be a very good cost to value ratio.

Best racing game for xbox/360.
Forza 3's coming out in a few months and it looks amazing. 400+ cars, 100+ tracks. 866

Due to a change in plans, Apollyon/Interstellar Overdrive is being retired. I'm going to be purchasing a project car for both normal driving and some racing (autocross and the like)

Got the game right when it came out. Even played some RA1 for a while and I still remember the hilariously bad tech demo with the yellow bot and the nightmare clone.

Robo: Feel free to track me down on steam, SteamID is Carrion675, and I use NearChaos in game.
Urjak: Yeah, I know. This version was to test the concept. I'll work on refining it later. 874

Blender was a HS Middleweight at the competition. Bender is the copper and brass colored HW. I will restate again that due to the contract I signed, I cannot discuss the content of the matches in the HS120, College120 or Pro220 classes. 875

Can we not get realism complaints every time someone can't figure out how it would be done in the real world?
Hint: Oversized hollow axles are involved. When I get bored in class I sketch designs for real robots, this is based off of one of those sketches. The only thing I couldn't translate from the sketch was the drive setup, instead of external drive motors, the wheels were going to be chain driven from motors at the edge of the hollow axle the drum spun on. 876

Haven't done many new bots lately, been playing too much Left 4 Dead.
Here's a new drumbot. ![]() And yes, I do know how to make a real version of this. Edit: the Cheatbots team was made when I was playing with some AI parts, haven't changed the name since I got rid of them. (I ran out of team slots) 877

A few of the bots that aren't in the AU engine team crashed RA2 on me. Two of which were ant crushers, iirc.

I'm honestly not sure, The 15lb tournament overlapped with the big bots by a fair bit, and I missed a bunch of early stuff. Bender did look great at BBots. It had a steampunk-ish paint job going on.
Some pics from BBots that avoid spoilers: http://pics.killerbotics.com/BattleBots-Apr09/ Bender: http://pics.killerbotics.com/BattleBots-Apr09/DSC01111.JPG http://pics.killerbotics.com/BattleBots-Apr09/DSC01119.JPG 879

College 120lb will be on the CBS college sports channel. Haven't heard if/when/what the Pro 220lb class or the HS120lb class will be on.
I can't reveal any of the results of those matches due to the NDA I signed to compete. |
