Chatterbox / ACAMS LOOK HERE, I GOT A BETTER AVATAR FOR YOU!
« on: June 21, 2009, 09:47:28 AM »
Can't be a cigar, because cigars are not legal except in certain states for medicinal purposes only...
----
Cool, SG.  Well done, "Mr. Artíst".
Maybe we should have a forum poll to determine ACAMS' avatar...
Entries could be received and voted upon...
(Mine's now Simon Bar Sinister...)

I'm,... err, it's,.. ready for you guys...

I don't know what happened... I heard some screechy squeel outside the window, the lights flickered, and the computer turned on by itself. So I looked around the house and found nothing unusual,,. but the computer had apparently called some weird number, while RA2 was running.:ermm:
When I looked closer, the bot lab was open and there was this tiny little cube-chassis in the 3D viewer box that... well... moved,... as I moved.:? It seemed as though it could see me, and it's color changed to a more blood-red as I drew nearer.:(
Then, as my stomach felt qweezy and every hair on my body began to stand on end, I watched a robot being created and brought to life right infront of me.
Then suddenly the monitor flashed like lightning, I heard a loud modem-like screech and I dropped my cookies and milk, turned and flew out of there like a bat out of Roger Clemens' hands...:dead:

Next thing I know there was this bot with mystical powers posted in this thread!?!?!

v
Joe, I'll send my real bot soon...

Almost done tweaking out my SHW entry cube bot; 'Pip Squeek'. It's small but....
You said we could use any AI.py, so I wrote my own. The bot and AI.py of course follow all of the rules set forth in this Tourney thread. It's weapons need a bit of work to be 100% and then it will be ready.

Oh, here's a short vid of 'Pip Squeek' against Alligator(all I had for SHW at the moment). Goose inspired me with this SHW: Mads_Cube_Entry

You can make the AI ignore the opponent, NP.
But some obstacles would be tough for the AI to navigate.
AI in a 'drag race arena' is very do-able.

To lower risk of lag, you should be careful of and minimize
...-GMF vertices, and
...-Python commands.

I surprised by the lack of any response here, since according to the Poll Trov took, there are several good gmf-ers here:

ACAMS, Clickbeetle, DuckRA2, JoeBlo, LiNcK, Madiaba, RedlineM203, roboman2444, Sage, Trovaner, WhamettNuht

I'll find some slots of time to help, Wham.

When moding files, I run into Dummy's work all of the time... he and Dark Rat.

As far as the progress of this game, I think we forget that order doesn't happen by itself. Some individual(s) thought out idea(s), and then did the work to implement the progress of the game.
...It's the same with societies, people born into an somewhat orderly society do not realize the thought and work it took to create the present social order. They're just born into it and they think it's always been, and will always be, that way. So they cease to contribute to the maintenance and start to exploit it. (These are the people who won't even bother to read this section of this post...)
...Same with a teen-ager using his parent's car, they don't know the amount of effort (payments, insurance, repairs, GAS, TIRES, etc) it took to acheive this.... and thus will probably take it for granted.
...War veteran's say this all of the time...
...So, Jeffrey has a good point, and I don't think he's complaining (at least at first because we're not getting it), but rather suggesting that we also remember the vets, that gave so much, but are no longer with us.

Sage is very able to figure out how to accomodate the large contributors of the past... Few relevant factors:
(This poll could specify to include only current members..?)
(The wiki already notes some current and past contributors...?)
(This poll could include ALL, but then cannot really rely on the vote of the current members who don't know some of the pillars of the past....?)

----
#Note to the nerds: I don't want to hear any "There goes Mad into his philisophical (larger picture) jargon again..." because it's by only thinking in a little comfortable box, that the above dynamics can even happen in the first place...*:baby_smily:*

Many have begged for the source code.... but no go.

Here's an older bot that I took some pics of:
14 serial components(held off the Ninja) :

BFE:
...# 14 serial components
...# pyramid chassis
...# my 'inviso' chassis too(*was a secret*).

# I exported it too, if you want to see it: Tree_2_Chassis_Mod_D

Your own words:

Ah, to heck with this.

Why should I even care about newbies ? I have more important matters to do = NAR AI pack....
He's both wanting and then doing the work to produce a bot pack,... just like you. He's striving to do what he can to be productive for the community... the very same as you,...while asking for help to accomplish it.
If he's being stupid, then set him straight.  But there's no need for the sarcastic, indifferent and belittling attitude toward those who are being productive...to whatever their present aptitude.

Should some do the same to you because they can AI better than you, especially when you ask for help? Doesn't make sense at all...

Please exercise a little better discernment, Nar.

Other Tutorials / Get more than nine buttons on the controller
« on: June 15, 2009, 04:10:52 PM »
That's nice, Apanx. Thanks. I've several multi-weaponed bots that I could use this on.

Too bad though, it's through BFE; and only 'until you try to edit it'.
Maybe some gib work might be useful here, so that this can be done kosherly without BFE. Maybe with gib surgery, the exe will recognize the extra slots in the controller, and likewise do all of this in the botfile.
I'll talk with some others who know some 'Gib'erish, and test this out...
When there's some progress, I'll send it your way...

Great work, Apanx.
