How about I use this opportunity to persuade you into fixing your "Not Quite Replica Wars" entry.

Good choice not releasing it to the public.  Neat find!

The big question to me is... Is the glitch allowed in tournaments by default because technically others may discover it later?

If it is done in game and pretty much legal... Does that mean that Sage and Scrap can legally use it for tournament bots even if they are the only ones that know?

I, personally, am totally cool with that.  It is only a matter of time before someone else discovers it and lets the cat out of the bag.  Stocks collapse might follow, or maybe... just maybe... there will be more stock tourneys that simply have the "realistic rule" inserted.

absolutely nothing

Oh good. That corresponds with what I won!  :gawe:

Edit: Corn Mauler has been uploaded to the bot exchange.

Whoa... I immediately thought of the movie Ghoulies after looking at that.

Woot! Thanks for the appreciation guys.  While Corn Mauler was grossly ineffective in combat, it did take quite a while to build.  I will put it up on the bot exchange this evening so you all can destroy it like crazy. (It is pretty fun to rip apart).

So, yeah, I gotta ask... what does CLEVER ACRONYM mean?

Challenge Board / Jack Daniels vs Craaig (Craaig Wins)
« on: June 30, 2011, 07:28:58 PM »
DSL Heavyweight
No glitchy cheaty voodoo or BFE.
Can be unrealistic within reason.
Entries have to unmistakeably resemble a Pokemon.
No Cheatbot2 parts. (i think)

Craaig already accepted the challenge via PM.

Soooooo. What is wrong with Hard Bot's entry anyways?

If he is not responding, perhaps someone could fix his bot for him instead?  I think he would prefer that vs getting booted out altogether.

Personally, I think many are too lazy to figure out which bots are listed in the DSL folder to find out the components they have available.  That step is rather time consuming.  Don't know how to fix that though...

Hope you get more entries.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: BitDefender vs. Steam
« on: June 28, 2011, 03:35:27 PM »
Steam is still twitchy after all these years? Damn, Steam used to piss me off back in the day when I played CS.  I am baffled they haven't made it more stable.

I'm still a Kaspersky fan myself.  But Norton 360 has come a long way and runs pretty decent.  If you strive for free software... Avast isn't too bad (like Craaig suggested)  I had it on one of my computers for about 2 years, but then a virus squeaked by and I wasn't too impressed.  But, can't really beat it when it is free.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Transformers Movies (Not cartoons)
« on: June 28, 2011, 04:13:42 AM »
I don't like Michael Bay's version of the transformers. They are too cluttered and ugly so I don't really care for them.

Meghan Fox is not cluttered or ugly... so she was the only reason I would want to see the movies at all.  :P

I was considering suggesting a Battlebots tourney like this one.  In my opinion as many entries as possible could be accepted, but only 16 would be voted in via poll based on their realistic appearance.

Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Need some car suggestions.
« on: June 26, 2011, 08:02:55 AM »
Four doors, economical, good on gas, useful... hmmm

Pontiac Vibe.  Great car, it is a re-badged Toyota Matrix and can be had cheaper than the Matrix because most people don't know any better.

Chevy Prism. Once again, another rebadged Toyota (Corolla) Bullet proof and cheap.

Scion XB. Very useful & built by Toyota (seeing a trend here?) First Gens can be had for less than 5k used.

Nissan Sentra. 1st and 2nd gen. Very Reliable. Good fuel economy. Prone to rust in the Northeast though. Be sure to check the undercarriage.

Mazda Protege.  Once again, reliable and good on fuel. Really fun to drive too!  I love the dashboard layout on these cars.

Try to stay away from:

Most Cheap Subarus... Cool cars, but have had chronic engine problems over the years (mostly head gasket problems) If you get a Subie, be sure to do a ton of research on the year and model first... some are great (WRX and some Legacies) Some are really bad (Some Outbacks, Forresters, etc etc.)

All Saturns.  Saturns are rebadged Opels (which are not too bad) But the kick is that they have Plastic body panels that make the car look nicer than it really is.  A nice looking Saturn might have tons of rust or potential problems.  Saturns are only good if they are incredibly low mileage.  Save yourself the trouble and just avoid them altogether.

Volkswagon Beetles.  Unfortunately, are pretty high maintenance.

Chevy Cavaliers.  Fortunately, are pretty high maintenance.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final verdict:  I think  you would be realy happy with a 4 door, 4cyl, Standard Trans, Mazda Protege.

Do you truly expect me to be as illogical as accepting an art bot challenge (therefore accepting the validity of art bots) and THEN go on a whine about how art bots are lame if I lose ? I am not that naive.

Hmmm I suppose you are right. You've just been so harsh on candy bots in the past that I will admit I was taken aback when I saw this challenge.

I am very aware that if I do this, my credibility on these forums will dive even lower.

Nahhhhh.  We all still consider you to be one of the best of the best.  <3

However, I might go and whine about you guys just voted for 123 because you wanted to piss me off and milk off some lulz out off me, basically reducing this as a predictible popularity contest rather than a fair coolness rating between two bots.

Didn't mean to piss you off. Was just being honest. However, I hope that you will show the bots to the forum WITHOUT anyone knowing who built each one... that way it will be a fair vote.

...Wait, i'm a villain. I'm not supposed to be loved or something. Oh well.

Again, as I said, we'll see about that.

[ham]

123 ! YOU WILL BE DEFEATED ! ON MY OWN BLOOD AND ANGER AND WILL TO WIN THIS FIGHT, YOU SHALL FALL THIS DAY ! AND NEITHER YOUR SMARTS NOR YOUR PREPARATION SHALL BE A MATCH FOR MY PURE, UNALTERED WISH TO DEFEAT YOU, AND THRUST MY ARMS INTO THE SKY AND SAY "I HAVE DEFEATED THE BEST DSL BUILDER EVER ! TREMBLE BEFORE MY AWESOMENESS !"

[/ham]

I lol-ed hard.  Glad you can be such a great sport about this stuff.  :D

I predict that 123 will win and Nary will go into a long tirade about how candy-bots are lame anyways and he just did the challenge for the lulz.

Says my crystal ball.

Flatout 2 had an awesome sound track with likes of Megadeth Audioslave and various others

Totally agree. That soundtrack made me a Wolfmother fan.
