whats the armor
Titanium 5mm Wedge on the back seems pointless.
Actually it effectively prevents opponents from getting under the bot, if they successfully get behind it, even without requiring a metal hinge. That wedge saved me a good dozen times so i'll keep that way

Well you don't need the razors on the wedge. Also, could we get a shot of the robot from the side?
Sure Those razors are useful to damage wheels. They are not there for nothing. They do damage and are effective

It's... messy.
It's too vague. What do you mean exactly? Is it a problem of the symmetry of the components? weight balance? All components are symmetrical Too complex? I have interest in building complex robots. I've built more than those that i post here but i only post those that are effective in battle as well Also i rearranged the razor tips to make them align between themselves. I only noticed that after your post

That was some gold advice! The robot performance increased exponentially in battle! Here's the latest version The original lower hinge is still there just to fill the gaps. It won't affect the wedginess at first contact

The following bot was based in NFX advice and is a SHW like many of you asked for: Not as effective as "Hideous Beast" but it's still a dangerous opponent. It has a good performance in battle. It's a hard target but it's weak against spinning bots. Some times, if not enough speed is gained, the opponent stays half way to the rolling pins but it's not a problem. Beneath the chassis hide 2 spiked clubs powered by small burst motors ready to give those bots a surprise. Sometimes those clubs are able to flip the opponents but it's rare. >Extremely fast and agile. More than enough speed to take any adversary to the deadly spiked rolling pins. >Although large, its low silhouette make it hard to target and usually most opponents will literally fly over it when charging. >There's a 70% chance that the bot will recover from a flip (from my experience in battle) >With the help of the back wedge, this bot can be effectively attack from behind as well but that can mean sacrificing the rear plow >Spinning opponents can take apart this bot unless they are small in diameter >Exposed wheels are the main concern. >The rear plow can stop the opponents from flying over the main weapon but it isn't 100% guaranteed. >Large robot. Hard to maneuver at corners and small arenas.

Many of you requested making my last bot a SHW. I gave a shot but i had to remove a lot of necessary components that would make it function better. You may notice that there's lot of empty space but i needed to make the chassis tall enough to hold the huge burst motors. It's definitely faster and more agile but way more ineffective. The burst motors simply cannot lift even MW bot and the bot itself will fall forward due to lack of weight. In this case I would rather remove the flippers and put those rolling pins on the front and its performance in battle would be much better. I'll maybe try to give another try on this one. Any advice is welcome

i'd try:
make a new folder move components.cfz to that folder delete components folder copypaste nar ai components as the new components folder
I'm quite amazed to say this but you were right. I just had to move the components.cfz to another place or just delete it. Disabling the files (putting a "-" behind the folder name) always worked for me. This is the 1st game that doesn't obey to this rule. I was so convinced about this technique that i never even bothered deleting or moving the file Not anymore!

SwitchDirEcoOmni.py is something that permits you to AI a bot so it can use weapons on it's back.
Also you should have deleted your components folder AND components.cfz, and then add the components folder from NAR AI in your RA2 directory.
Deleted the old components folder this time; Added a fresh components folder from NarAi download; Kept "components.cfz" disabled; The result: It gets worse, now the flamethrower and ballast disappear from the item selection. In the pic there's the example of the flamethrower that's missing. It's one of the components that doubles (yes the double components bug is still present). Whenever i click on those empty rectangles the game crashes.

First of all thanks to everyone for the nice comments and critics, they're always welcome Naryar, i must agree with you that many of my bots are fragile. They aren't at all compact, instead they are very wide. "Hideous Beast" was not planned to be so wide. The Etek drive motors were the main blame since i couldn't fit them in the chassis. So i made a structure to attach the motors in place. To avoid exposure i decided to point the motors inwards so that the structure itself could provide some protection which made the bot even wider and fragile looking. If you're referring to the tutorial in the wiki, yes i did check it. I may say that i totally violated this rule: "Unless you know what SwitchDirEcoOmni.py (i have no idea what this might be) is and are ready to use it, don't put weapons on your back. It is better to focus all your attack power on the front like most real life combat robots do." fight the uhw's instead of having a 2200+ kg advantage over the hw's
Where do i get AI bots of the other heavy weights? in Dsl2 there's only the heavy weight
nar ai
I already installed that. Not only i didn't find any super or ultra heavy weights not every team has a uhw, just keep looking on every team for one but some AI bots crashed the game when loading them into a battle did you install the components ?
i am assuming that you have v2.7
Yes i have 2.7. I decided to reinstall and it looks like i missed to install something at 1st time. Now the looks are completely different with a lava or fire background. A nice new display in general. Unfortunately the colors are killing my eyes so i need to to disable this. Even though everything seems ok now (bots that didn't work, now do) one new weapon, the "nightmare disc", seems to be crashing the game whenever i select it. Plus a lot of components are repeating themselves. I disabled the "components.cfz" as it was asked but they are still doubled. Only about 15 items double like anchors and anglers.

Hi, people It's been a while... A Huuuuuge while. I've been very busy with studies and university and stuff and my activity here will be very low. I come here when i have enough time and some ideas too. Today i had both. So i created this "little" fellow here: Careful, because the actual front of the bot is the 2nd picture where sits 4 flippers, enabling it to throw in the air heavy weight bots like they were feathers. This monster uses its super flipper to throw bots into the rolling pins. It can also effectively do it by simply charging from behind. If any adversary bot successfully gets under this, the lower rolling pins will still damage it. >Superb performance in battle. >Astounding killing power. Able to immobilize other bots with the flipper or crush them with 4 rolling pins. >If it successfully drags a bot into that death trap there is no possible come back (except for spinning bots) >Very fast and maneuverable but very wide >Hard to flip over but if flipped, it rarely succeeds to upright >Not enough batteries. Even though it has 16 batteries, 5 of them ants, whenever the flippers are activated a lot of power is drained from driving and the rolling pins. Power discharges fast.

less empty space ples, less empty space = less chassis weight, and you'd be able to get more weaponry than you can already get
Yes i already mentioned that below pics. But the bot just was too effective and i let it be like this. I'll maybe do a flatter version of it.

One more heavy weight, this time gone as planned. Average bot during combat. Needs a bit of practice to control. Only the top shield spins. At first just the top shield spins but if the bot destabilizes (opponent bot hits for example) or it turns upside down, both halve start spinning. In other terms it becomes more powerful at it's vulnerable state. Upside down, the spin is violent enough to make the bot mobile. In this bot i made the chassis bigger than needed on purpose, it stabilizes it better when it spins. >Great armor and weapons, hard to reach main chassis. >Confusing controls when the top shield is activated. (bottom shield also spins a bit) >If cornered, you pretty much lost.

As promised a bot without anti ballast: These chassis were made for another bot, but since that idea failed i decided to build something else. I then realized the weight i could spare with all that empty space. This bot came out to be too good so left it like this. It proven to destroy pretty much all AI bots out there, except spinning and plow bots. >It's fast and very maneuverable >strong weapons, capable of pinning down flat bots between the drums and the skirts >invulnerable to flips. It has different controls for up right and upside down positions to avoid confusion. >Main down side: the spikes don't last long Edit: The spikes are now all Tornado's. Previously i had 2 PC625 batteries. When i got the info about the amps i replaced to ants and forgot to change the other weaker spikes. Just mentioning so you won't point that out

How does it move?
By us... It's a chair. More like wheel chair without wheels in this case, but still a chair, lol I like it, pretty original. Furniture bots

oh my god
your bots are so freakin' amazing
also can you build anything without the use of an antiballast? :P
So far i only built one successful bot without the antiballast. I'll post it tomorrow. Edit: I mean tomorrow which is in fact today because it's already 2 am here, lol

Alternative, you could make it trinity for extra weirdness and death.
You were saying? How about instead of trinity make it fithity...fithty... fith...whatever? Lol I had no decent angle for the interior so lets forget it shall we? Unfortunately this one is not effective at all in battle. The other is difficult but eventually able to control. This one is a nightmare! Pretty to see moving but impossible to control. A hit with this guy is pure luck. I almost lost against a flipper bot. I tried every kind of controls and rotations between engines. i could only achieve best speed performance but never control improvements, too many motors to take in account. Spikes on the shield only worsen it's performance I posted this bot JUST because it's pretty and interesting in my opinion nothing more. P.S: Damnit!! i'm always forgetting to remove the cursor from the pics
