Discussion / 2.1 patch released.
« on: June 22, 2008, 07:46:56 PM »
Ah ok. Cool. And kudos, haven't found a single glitch. But there are some of the 2.0 components that crashed on my version, along with some white spaces... Isn't there a fix to crashing DSL components? (i.e. shark tooth.)

Yeah, we talked about buying rights from Atari at the old forum too.

BTW CB: How are you able to change the credits in the game? I always wondered that. Awesome Patch.

Real Robotics Discussion / What would YOU build?

I would build a MW featuring four, motorized, spinning attatchments around the bot, for drills and drums. The bot can also spin, flailing the spinning weapons at the opponent. Never seen a bot like that but it would be interesting to watch.

Discussion / Creating an AI Pack Generation Classification
« on: June 21, 2008, 09:41:47 AM »
There has been so many beautiful, innovative, and challenging packs that have been made so far by our talented forum members (not overshadowing any other new contributions like new arenas and weapons etc). I was wondering if I can recieve some help in knowing the final release dates of every official pack announced (or at least most of them), either on this forum or the old forum (gametechmods site is also a good source), as well as their features.

I'm asking this because I want to create an ordered list of AI Packs from you all in a wiki, According to generation. Simular to the classification of video game consoles (1st gen, 2nd gen, etc.) section on this wiki page. Each AI Pack will be in order from oldest to most recent and the generations will progress annually (i.e. 2000-2001- gen 1, 2001-2002- gen 2 and so on...)

I will go into more detail as to providing the history and description of each of your packs, creator names, pictures, and such as well as their success and controversies... but that is just some of it.

Anything else you would like for me to add, or if you have any comments, concerns, etc. please let me know through reply.

Thanks for any replies, Gigafrost

General Support / Fix for hidden parts appearing in botlab

Indeed, but for some reason, I am getting some white spaces (most of which crash in the mechanics section)...  I'll reinstall and see if that helps.

Kind of late to ask but, I wans't able to find the AIHelpers line in my .cfg file. Could I just add it in or do i need a more recent patch? (I used NO_CD 1.0 according to the DSL install instructions)

Modifications / Give me ideas for arena...
« on: June 03, 2008, 03:39:14 PM »
Hmm... Perhaps there could be some code input put into an interaction with the bot itself than just the "checkpoint" of the arena in terms of avoiding fights? I remember a while back that CB (i think or Starcore) was talking about a type of code that can allow the enemy bot to avoid you instead of attack. This can probably be done, through constant x,y position checking between the AI and the user, or with the AI being programmed with thinking that you are a hazard instead of a foe. Maybe there can also be a similar method with this arena? I do not know if it is possible...

Simular to a Tamagotchi or Gigapet but more "flash professional".Tons of different items that you can buy or use by default that either entertain or harm it. The more money you earn, the more skins, items, etc you can buy. I played it for hours.

I also agree with II, the old one looked more um... neat? Nice skins though.
