The whole reason behind the design of that armored bot was to give that ultra tough black wedge a perfect fit on the bot. Its wedginess is good but not great and it doesn't need much speed since it can withstand high amounts of damage. it ain't perfect but it's rather effective in general.
Adding the NPC might add some speed but that would mean stretching the chassis, which in turn means that it needs more areas to put armor on. Of course i could remove the wedge like Suede suggested. I could then put in its place hex plates to compensate like my previous armored bots. I would save weight but then it wouldn't have the same resistance as the bot with the wedge and obviously its wedginess would drop also.
Hex plates are really weak by armour standards. a titanium sheet, or steel skirts are a lot better on HP, and Heavy ploughs are almost invincible.
you're right but those don't look very good options for such a small bot

I can think of quite a few bots in NAR AI that seem like they could destroy it.
Aside from bots that have better wedges, I there's any other bot that could take it down easily. Even Root Beer should have a hard time with the wedge.
Hard hitting HS, FSS, VS, SNS, etc. The bot is only protected so long as every shot strikes the wedge components, and I can see opponents (particularly VS) easily being able to get at the more juicy sides of the bot (hex plates won't hold up very long against HWs).
Is there a list that could explain me what "HS, FSS, VS, SNS" and others mean? I still don't know how exactly you call each bot. I used my bot a bit more and like most of my creations it also fails against spinning bots but it takes them quite a while and loss of many weapons to finally bring it down. I'm not saying that it can't be beaten, It's just the toughest armored bot i ever made so far. If you can somehow flip it over, you can tear apart those hex plates. They're not indestructible, and with a little luck if you hit the right ones, the entire bottom armor is gone.
The bot can easily upright itself with its burst weapon and flipper bots will damage themselves if it falls on them it looks tough, but certainly not invincible
is it for 2 tribes ?
If you mean 2 equal bots on teamwork, well i never considered that or joining tournaments or anything like that The bot is powered by 2 TWM3R Drive motors. here's a pic:

As i said before i'm going to make a brake with the walkers. I miss wheels, motors and specially destruction power. So i designed this one to make me feel better When we talk about toughness and armor, this one sure beats, by far, all previous armored bots i made. Besides all the obvious armor, the chassis are 5mm steel. Destroying this thing is not an option. It's main weapon shown in pic 3 is powered by a simple burst motor. >trusts in its armor to damage and wear down the opponents weapons >Slow speed and agility but it's compensated by the armor >Very small for a HW makes it a hard hitter >Exposed wheels are it's only downside and weak spot

Wow... The crocodile sure won all the votes! Thank you very much for all your comments! I do believe you deserve a wiki page. Actually much more than plenty of others...
What do you mean? is that a good thing? If the croc's tail could swivel like the head can then it would be even more awesome than it already is. But I doubt it will go with the Rule of 7 so never mind.
I don't think crocodiles can swivel their tails like that anyways....so it would detract from the awesomeness IMO.
I think he wants the crocodile to be able to swing the tail on both sides to add more realism. I thought about it but as Kurt mentioned, because of the rule of 7 the tail would have to be much shorter so i kept it this way.

Hi all! It's been another while. My exams are coming to an end. I just got one more next Tuesday and i'm free (thank god). Ok... Lets see, during my spare time in between study hours I've been thinking and trying to design new walkers and new walking ways but honestly it's the most frustrating thing to build. I guess i've built about 10 or more walkers but only 2 had actually some walking capabilities. The working walkers are in the video, the pics are fails that i didn't delete yet. I made various types of walkers and i was trying hard to make a walker with sideways legs, replicating insects and arachnids. All have failed miserably just because the legs are disposed sideways so there's no force applying to the chassis vertically so the legs can't stand the bots weight no matter how light the chassis is. Incredibly the prototype has the best walking of any walker I've created so far, being the most stable. Here are some fails(the only ones i didn't delete): This walker was the only one with sideways legs and was actually capable of standing but it was incapable of walking. It had some glimpses of hope but never worked properly. This one was made to replicate the At-St walking chicken from Star Wars. The number of attempts to make it work were endless. The last thing i did were those huge supports just to see if it could walk forward at all. It couldn't, the legs just slipped sideways. I made various part changes, different weights and such, wheels.... But same results. This one has a funny story. Just for curiosity i was hoping to make a centipede that walked on pistons. Not only it didn't walk but it actually flew, upside down. I laughed so hard when i saw this thing take off and never touching the ground. Now that's an interesting thing to do in real bots as an evasion tactic. This one is the last i did and it is still in works. Like the 1st fail bot, it might just have some hope but could be false hopes. The original feet were much more "bipedal future like war bot" feet but then i had to change and test different way to make it balance. It doesn't fall but it doesn't walk either. So the video: there is the At-At Imperial Walker, which i suppose everybody know what it is is the only one of my designs which has a similar walking feature as the prototype. The At-At was made with the purpose of being the most realistic as possible just like in the movies with slow and heavy steps. after watching some videos and animations i could see that it walked one foot at a time trusting in its own weight to push it forward. Unfortunately it could not be literally replicated, otherwise it wouldn't be able to walk at all. So i had to make it walk 2 legs at a time like in the prototype. There's also the crocodile, which is more complex. It has more moving parts. I wasn't worried with the looks but i wanted it to actually work. It took quite some time. The walking motion needs a very accurate rhythm and precision, which was only achieved at the end of the clip. The video has been recently published so it still might not work http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuaU5KkdWws&feature=youtu.be#wsIn my personal opinion so far nothing has beaten the prototypes walking. I never actually reviewed its design except for the At-At. I might return to the good old wheeled vehicles because walkers are seriously frustrating to build. Once i get a good amount of inspiration for it then I'll go back to walkers. Right now i need to build something that kills, lol.

So, finals are coming and i won't be posting that much for the following 30 days. So i decided to post something a "bit" different. Not battle effective though: Meet the walker bot. A prototype that i plan to improve in the future but not expecting to win any battle. I included a video of its walking performance. Please ignore the empty space as it's just a test. I hope you like it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0v4zmaj0Zk&feature=youtu.be#

The rule of 7 is quite annoying for the arms but i might be possible. However it wouldn't be a HW anymore

I don't actually like it all that much. It looks far too spindly and flimsy to me. I imagine it's gonna be quite havoky with a burst-on-burst setup like that.
I was expecting some kind of glitch too with the bursts but in fact it works very smoothly. But due to superior weight at the front it will easily tip forward each time an opponent rams from the front. Actually that's something to add to the negative list. I cannot criticize your comment because you're pretty much right. This bot is just so delicate and fragile looking. All characteristics of my inspiration.

I just do what comes into my mind.... Even with all the down sides I'm grateful that you like it

Design made because of my interest in the praying-mantis, an insect that fascinates me and I usually keep and take care of. It was posted here just for looks. I think this bot looks a bit scary and intimidating but it's far from being battle effective. It's able to take down a few HWs, mostly those with same type of burst weapons or pushers but nothing more. The lower burst motors work independently from the top ones. By activating the lower ones first followed by the top ones you achieve a very interesting drag effect of the over kill blades in a vertical grasping motion, pretty much like the insect it was inspired on. >Fast >Accommodates 2 additional burst motors inside the chassis to upright the bot if flipped. They are 100% effective at its job. >Poor agility >Very wide >Extremely fragile >Able to clinch down the opponents with its arms but the weapons are not effective enough for fast destruction, meaning that the bot itself will most likely break apart before doing decent damage. >Empty spaces >Poor armor >Uneven weight make it easy to tip forward when rammed Yeah that's a lot of down sides. I think they are more though. Please name them if i forgot some, lol

Ok, first of all this bot was inspired by this: http://military-vehicle-photos.com.s3.amazonaws.com/2183.jpgThis one is pretty well armed but it's small for a SHW and can easily be flipped. To counter that i added side skirts operated by burst motors to upright it again but they don't always work. The 360 degree turret equipped with flame spike has proven to be a very useful weapon, crippling opponents enough to turn the tables in its favor. >Extremely fast and agile >3mm titanium armor plus 360 degree moderate component armor provide decent protection >Very good wedges plus the drums make it easy to get under bots and even flip them easily >powerful armament >Easily flippable >The side skirts usefulness to upright the bot is limited and it's success rate is low I thought in sharing the control panel. This is the 1st bot complex enough to fill the entire panel

Not enough razors !
What is the component holding the flamethrower spikes anyway ?
I could add some more if you like The flame spikes are powered by medium2 sized burst pistons

Another bot using a coat of Hex plates. Due to the rule of 7 this bot could have been much better. An example is that the side armor does not rotate, unlike to upper panels. Unfortunately nor do the flamethrower spikes rotate. Basically the top rotation will just prevent it from immobilization, if it gets flipped. But even like that the opponents will have a hard time getting to the chassis, even from below, which has 2 layers of hex plates. >Enough weapons to to deal with multiple bots makes of it a very fearsome opponent >Decent speed and agility for its kind >Very very very very well protected! >Could definitely be better if the game allowed (few rotating parts) >If flipped, the upper part will need a while to start spinning due to the weight. >Can easily get cornered by fast bots due to it's medium speed

Before you start yelling at me please note this was my FIRST bot EVER! I installed DSL but i had no experience in building. At that time i saved it because well, it was my first bot and i was proud of watching it work although its performance in battle was deplorable. The reason why i posted? Just to scare some experienced builders and for laughs P.S: Yes there is a large CO2 tank doing absolutely nothing there.

The hex plate bots took quite a while to build and patience. Thank you once more for the comments I want Armored Nightmare 2 on the exchange, it just looks so goddamn awesome.
Added to DSL HW. Have fun m8

They do all look excellent, especially Fortress. It's nice to see hexplates being used as a main component. On the UHW, perhaps you could swap to Lightning Teeth or Razors, to get stronger/tougher weaponry, and eat up some of the remaining weight.
Unfortunately i tried every spike available to put there but for some reason only lightning spikes fit. All the others show "blocked by other components". Even the typhoon spike! So yeah, i had no choice in this case but to put there the largest small spike available, which fits, which makes perfect sense, lol

Here are some updates Looks cool. I would build it up to 5000kgs but it your choice what you want to with it.
It was my attempt to build a 5000kg version of "Hideous beast" but it proved to be quite ineffective at higher weights. It now includes an additional burst motor, making it 5 burst motors as flippers! Nothing more to say about it. It's pretty much the same as "Hideous beast" but a bit less agile. It will be the last bot of its kind for a while. This one is certainly one of the most bizarre bots i ever made. Created mainly just for fun but proved to be a powerful opponent in most cases. It has a 360 degree turret with 4 flame throwers mounted on it. Painfully slow but this bot doesn't need speed. >Every angle of attack will damage the opponent no matter what >Mobile main weapon reduces the effort to hit the opponent >Sacrifices agility for superior protection >flippable but with the help of the turret in can upright >Armor is far from being useful when the bot has no means to escape >although scary looking, it's very small and easily tackled down and thrown I attempted to create a better robot in terms of armor which could be agile and battle effective and this was the result. With only 1mm plastic armor e doesn't need more to survive and win a battle. It has 2 simple axes powered by burst motors. >Protected from every angle. Superior armor and toughness >Decent amount of weapons >Low profile bot makes it hard to hit and can easily crawl below opponents >Slow, drastically reducing its effectiveness in every way 2nd version upgraded with better motors but compromises wheel protection. This one keeps the burst axes too. >Far more agile and faster, resulting in much better performance >Same advantages as the other >weapons power had to be reduced to allow the better motors to fit in it.

The side picture is not clear but the back wedge, although fixed, is just a tiny bit lower than the entire chassis and might make perfect contact with the ground. Might be just the luck of a perfect alignment. I can understand from your interest that it might not be normal but normal or abnormal, I'll keep it this way. It works, that's the main factor If you want i can repost the pic but now i have to go sleep. It's 4 am here, lol
